One thing to factor in is that Corporate purchases ramp up Mid March to Mid May. Personally, Given the fact that current iPads are being sold in bulk to several corporations, If you want to get the corporate sales you want general availability by 4/1, and announcement 6 weeks prior.
and those debating whether or not the iPad should be considered a phone (thus dictating that it gets a mini-USB in the EU).
Does all this really matter?
It's safe to assume Microsoft is not sitting still in this area and I'm sure we'll see a significant update from them that will make the iPad 2.0 and any Android device from 2011 look like a joke.
Too bad for Microsoft it will be in 2015! LOL!![]()
so if it ships in February.... that means there will be a media event in January?
also apple will be announcing verizon iphone around january-February....
Could these announcements be in the same media event? will there be a verizon ipad 2?
OMG, I'm talking about major releases that generate lines of hundreds of people. Hello!
They are solely iPhone and iPad! Duh!

Apple's current charger can charge any micro usb equipped phone provided that a usb to micro usb cable is available, so it meets that goal.
Apple could choose to supply a standard usb to micro usb cable and a dock connector adapter featuring a female micro usb port in place of the current USB to dock connector cable if they wanted to though. Basically it would look the same as the current cable Apple uses at first glance, but the dock connector would be removable to reveal a micro usb plug on the cable.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the current size is wrong, or unsuitable. It's simply a desire of mine to have a slightly more portable version for traveling.I played with a Galaxy Tab and didn't like the size... seemed like an odd size for a tablet. Great for an e-reader though. It just did not seem big enough to be really useful for more than e-books and showing photos. The larger sceen makes email, typing and web surfing much more natural. I have to agree with SJ. But that is my opinion too.![]()
"upstream component partners have all been notified of the shipments schedule"
I wonder if Samsung also knows about this?
I was going to buy one in March but if I buy the one in March, wont they just come out with a new one a year later? Should I wait and buy that one? Can you imagine how cool the 2020 model will be. I will probably wait for that one.
No, read the Digitimes article instead of the MacRumors post(because the entire post is just a he said she said blunder). The article states that iPad units will start being shipped from the factory in February but iPad itself won't launch until April.
Hmm, not here. Minnesota seasons:Right about the date but really, if you go with the "weather conditions" here it's:
Winter: December, January, February
Spring: March, April, May
Summer: June, July, August
Fall: September, October, November

Actually a mini-USB socket is a absolute given as the European Union mandated it as the standard recharging method on all cell phones. Of course just because the connector is there doesn't indicate USB functionality.
I don't think the Ipad would fall into the cell phone category. Just the Iphone of course. I know there is a 3g ipad but they also have 3g laptops, netbook, hp slate, acros.... and the ipad is a tablet.. I dunno just my .02 from reading more into the mandate.
