Logistically impossible, like same day deliveries on flowers you mean? Why is it logistically impossible to group the first 20,000 orders or what ever batch by postcode and dispatch to warehouses in that area for next day delivery?

It would be too expensive and the cut off time for delivery would have passed, these things have to be sorted in hubs and dispatched to their relevant delivery depots by postcode. This process will be going on as we speak and for Apple to process orders, label them and then have collected by courier to then sort and send across the UK within a few hours would not be possible.

Saturday delivery is possible though.

Cos they are shipping from china....

that's the real reason.

all the smartcovers for US orders shipped immediately. sorry.

I'm sorry - I missed the confirmation on this from Apple. I'm sure they're already in the country, and awaiting dispatch, otherwise we're going to be waiting 4+ weeks. And I'm sure that's not going to happen...

As in 25th. Why else would they do a 1am order time? No other logical reason for me...

I would imagine the unsociable hours are to ensure that they don't have any website crashes like they did for the iPhone 4 last year.

Die hard fans (like ourselves) will wait it out for the 1am start time, and others who are happier to wait, will try tomorrow morning. Less load on the website.

This is the same for the international launches and allows Apple to stagger the load on it's site, as each country gets to 1am (local times)

There's pictures online of Orange UK retail stores accepting delivery of their stock of iPad 2's.

Here you go:

Looks like their getting more than we thought they would, but still not too many.

Makes sense that mind but read that the oz site crashed due to numbers trying to order, were they middle of night??

Anybody intrigued as to what stock levels will be like within the Currys/PC World Stores?

We received ours today, and I got to hold one (store demo unit) very nice to hold. I'm still unsure weather to buy or not though, sold my iPad because lack of use but have missed it a bit to be honest!!

I'd like to know. That's where I'm getting mine.

Not this time, an initial batch will be in a UK warehouse, Apple call center staff have confirmed this

Lol like they know anything!! They didn't know it was coming out at 5pm in stores when I called even tho the press release had come out.

this time tomorrow will be fun, who was right and who was wrong!

Bet the only people on will be those who didn't get iPads tho. Probably me :(

Why do you think the Aussies wait time was 2-3 weeks from launch?!

Stop arguing about this.

NO ONE KNOWS.

The accessories this afternoon had a 2-3 lead time and they are arriving tomorrow.

Apple MAy be covering their own asses.

Most of the ipads will be shipped from China, but the first select few thousand are likely to already be with a supplier here in UK ready to ship.

Truth is, neither orf you are 100% right until its proven, so whats the point in arguing about this?

I hadn't heard about that, but I think that is a testament of just how popular the iPad 2 is globally. I don't think Apple could have done much more to ease strain on the website.

I did read though that there is a large quantity of Chinese living in Australia, and they are estimating of lot of those iPad's will be leaving Australia once received. Scalping I think is the term used.

Interesting though I've not heard about any issues with supply / demand outside the US. Perhaps Apple have been stockpiling the iPad's for the international launch. We will have to wait and see what surfaces over the next few hours.

Good luck if you're ordering online.

We do know tho. As has been said. The AUS site was 2-3 weeks from start. Therefore none in the country. I'm not arguing. Pointing out a fact that some people are just being daft to ignore.

Did you even read what I wrote? Some of the ipad 2 stuff we order today is ALREADY on its way to us, regardless of the 2-3 week reported ship time. So please just quit!

My Smart Cover was this too, until a couple of hours ago when it changed to tomorrow. We should all know by now that because Apple says x it doesn't necessarily mean that... All I'm saying is that I'm sure the first few to order, may get theirs sooner than we think...

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

besides arguing is a great way to pass the next hour or so!
