Manchester people - what's the plan? I know the Arndale seems the obvious choice but I'm thinking it might not be the best bet in the long run. Was considering the Comet by Strangeways and then just legging it back to safety.

Yes...if you manage to catch that 5 minute window when they are available.

For immediate delivery the window is likely to be small, yes, but even if the lead time is a couple of weeks... where's the problem? Seriously, I don't understand why some people treat a lead time of anything other than 'now' as the end of the world, especially for a product that's in high demand. Put this another way... you can place an order on-line when they go on sale and be more-or-less sure you'll get one within three weeks going by the US sales. Or you can go down to the local Apple / Comet / PC World / Whatever store and take a chance. If you get lucky you can have the iPad the same day, if you don't you might be waiting for longer than you would just ordering on-line.

Me, I think I'll try and get an order in ASAP on-line and see what the ship time is. If it's over 4 weeks I might just bite the bullet and see if anything's available local, if it isn't I'm probably not likely to be massively further back in terms of getting my unit. It's not as if Apple charge you for the purchase until it ships, if you find one in the meantime you can always cancel.

I'm thinking Trafford Centre!

The screen looks much more vibrant than the original iPad. It is brighter and closer to the glass surface so looks more like the iPhone 4 screen in how it pops out.

I have taken an original iPad invisible shield and cut it into about 30 pieces to cover the rear if the iPad. It looks a bit silly but it is protected now and when the iPad 2 invisible shield comes it will looks much better again!

Please stop D: you're making me very jealous.

Got the money in the bank waiting for a 32 GB one. I can't justify more than £500 for what will essentially be a toy so 64 GB and 3G are out. And I'll order online, it comes when it comes.....Much as I'd like it on day one, I'm not going to queue and feed the Apple marketing machine.

Invisible shields been out for a couple of weeks: http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/apple-ipad-2-3g-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php have mine in hand, seems a bit silly when I don't actually have one to apply it to but I like to put it straight on after unboxing.

I was in HMV in glasgows silverburn today and they have iPad2 in there system and they let me pre-order for £10 deposit and will call whenever they get them, they don't know if will have on launch day, but moat interesting was the price I asked for the White 32gb wifi and it's £479!!! So £20 cheaper than original iPad price at launch!

Has PC World just released a new Google Adwords advert for this?

Now when searching iPad 2, my second yellow highlighted google ad is this;

New iPad 2 At PC World - Buy Your New iPad At A Great Price.
Free Delivery or Collect @ Store.

Anyone spotted this before?

And the 64Gb WiFi - £559. 64Gb WiFi + 3G - £659

Nice prices.

Might pop into Silverburn and see if I can pre-order one.

Any chance of the main Buchanan Street HMV taking them? xD I knew I should've went in to kill some time today! xD

Ohwell, at least there's a HMV, John Lewis, Curry's, Apple Store (and props some more I've forgotten...) all on the same street, pretty much... :D

I hadn't noticed that before. Shame you can't pre-order one to collect in store on Friday. But at least the wheels are in motion for a launch.

I ordered a invisible shield on Monday but it hasn't even shipped yet!

My bits of iPad 1 shield will do for now! Lol

Did anyone go to the Trafford centre for iPad launch, if so what time did queues start. I don't think second party stores will get many models given the shortages.

i still don't think it will be a 5pm launch... well.. i hope it's not anyway...

did john lewis have a notify me page before??

Went up Weds I think, staff member kept sending me there, just seems like another non store specific one though and more for online orders, most likely on the 25th for whenever they get them!

Have updated site http://bit.ly/iawa2kiPad with the rumours and other comments on Comet, launch etc.

^^EXCITING UPDATE CONFIRMING 5PM LAUNCH BY APPLE RESELLER TRUSTED SOURCE^^
