If anyone is going to Solihul Touchwood centre and would like to buddy up Pm me, I will be getting there for around 1pm.

I'm in two minds; either here or Cribbs Causeway. I can't make up my mind which is more likely to have larger stock. If I do decide to go to Touchwood I'll pm u tomorrow as not having any toilet breaks sounds like cruel and unusual punishment!

I live and work in Solihull and have the afternoon off finishing around 12 - I should be queue worthy around 1pm myself :)

Decided to stay away from Apple stores on Friday, after iphone 4 release at Regent Street. Was there for 6 1/2 hours and I had reserved them. Was chaotic.

Have been doing some digging with local retailers.

Argos Extra Old kent road will have them in, have been assured by the manager who is a mate.

PC World Old kent road has an Apple store, manager there took my name and said he'll call on Friday morning.

Comet Old kent road, again store manager is a mate, said their delivery will be thursday evening or early Friday morning and he'll guarantee me the 2 I need.

There is also a Currys on Old kent road, not sure if they are getting any.

Hope this might help some peeps. :):)

I sort of know you might not wanna hear but I got mine yesterday from the US. The point is, you won't regret the hassle it's great. Had the first iPad and loved it, this is even better. Faster def lighter and in white somehow looks and feels smaller. Gonna wipe out the Kindle now I think.

Good luck to all of you

Magic, just what I wanted to hear.

I have the iPad 1 and use it every day, fantastic device. Been reading the forum for the last couple of weeks and keep telling myself I don't want/need the new one even though the exitement is building up again just like last year.
I even went to the Apple store in Bristol this afternoon to suss it out for Friday. Bad sign that.

Gonna have to have one! White with blue or red leather. Come on Friday!!

It was a toss up between Bullring and Solihull, the Bullring will no doubt have better stock levels but then comes the obligatory queues, parking costs and I don't fancy carrying a couple of iPads around the city centre on the night.
Solihull has a decent sized store and hopefully good stock levels, it is also surrounded with other stores that will hopefully have stock including the big PC World.

pretty much my thoughts too

Anyone from Notts got a plan?

City centre:
KCRS - Expecting big queues and not much stock
Argos - Can't see them getting many - Parliament Street or Broadmarsh
PC World - don't know if the city centre one will have them.
Carphone Warehouse - ?
John Lewis - ?

Castle Marina:
PC World / Comet - Surely not much stock either?

OR train to Leicester Apple store

I went into the apple store yesterday near me to ask about a leather smart cover (I have a blue plastic cover) and almost every employee in there crowded around me so I let them pass it around and play with it for a bit! :)

You went in there even though you knew they weren't available yet?

 So you're THAT guy.

You'll be in Starbucks with it next - PRAYING that somebody notices it/you.

Interested in this too. I'm guessing about ~£30, it would be a bit lame for Apple to charge anything more (not that £30 isn't expensive for what it is...)

US store has them on for $39.00, the smart covers are $39 and $69 so we might just get a symbol swap

Anyone else thinking that £40 and £70 for a case is extortionate? If you think about it, it's ALOT of money for some plaster (or leather) and a few magnets.

And then theres the issue that the smart covers don't "cover" the back (unless I'm mistaken...)

What are your thoughts on cases? I will be transporting mine around in my bag quite a bit and last thing I want to do is scratch the back up...

Thoughts?

Is anybody going to Leicester Highcross?

Tossing a coin between Leicester and Solihull. And Birmingham if I had a three sided coin. ;)

I have a feeling it'll be £26, like lots of iPhone accessories. (Dock, crappy earphones, maybe Bumper case )

Anyone else think this whole "queuing up/disappointment/low stock" thing is gonna turn out to be a damp squib, and that most folk will just be able to walk into a store selling them on Friday and pick one up?

Anyway, what's everyone's plans for Glasgow? I finish work at 2-ish, but am an hour's drive from Glasgow - I want one on Orange so am in 2 minds whether to head to Braehead and try the Orange Shop, or head for the Apple Store in the City Centre?

Braehead has the advantage of an HMV, Argos, CPW, Currys, PC World and Orange Shop all fairly close to each other.

My girlfriend reckons Heart fm in Bristol reported a couple of people there today at cribbs queueing up ready... surely a wind up from them!?!?! lol. She's going up tomo so will ask her to confirm haha!

Said in the Glasgow launch thread that i'd head down to the buchannan street apple store about 12/1pm, I cant really see there being a massive queue in glasgow. Although I might be mistaken, i'm pretty hopefully of getting one.

Out on the piss on friday night so I probably wont even get a shot of it till saturday.

I'm kind of tempted to get the 3G even though I have mifi (would use same sim, cut down) because it saves having another thing to charge/carry. But I'm not sure I'd use GPS. And I can't really justify another £100. And case wise, I want a smart cover, but can't decide between pink, red or navy. Again, can't justify the extra £24! Then I'm getting a cheap iPad 1 sock and hoping it will be okay for the iPad 2 with case. Then that will protect the back and I can rest the iPad on it with folded back smart cover which should stop it getting dirty! Ah my carefully thought out plans... Bet they don't work!

I'm planning on getting a leather smart cover, and a Belkin iPad 1 sleeve to put the whole lot in!

I am meeting my mate in Livi at 10am and heading to Glasgow. Should be at the shop for 11. Got my camping chair looked out. Not standing for 6 hours.

I've been carrying my iPad1 around in bags for a year now completely naked. The back is fine, screen is a bit scathed though. So I'd say don't worry about the back. As for the price, it's from Apple - what were you expecting?

My white 16gb ipad 2 arrived from the US yesterday and it is fantastic!

I hope you fellow UK guys get one when they are released over here 5pm Friday. :)

I did order one online from Apple but they cancelled order after a few days. They did this to US citizens too so i would get out and queue and make sure Apple don't let you down with online orders like they did to me.

Good luck everyone.

Do you guys reckon there will be a good supply of cases?

Ipad might be in short supply but surely this won't be the case (no pun intended) with the smart covers.

Thinking about visiting stores at 6pm friday when the ipad rush has died down - i already have a white 16gb imported from the US.
