1 am is such a random time for online ordering, Apple don't like to make things easy for their customers do they?

I plan to order online. Then later on in the day after work join the queue at the nearby apple store to see IF I can nab one. I will also try reserving through Argos if possible

I thought about ordering online and waiting in line but i'm just worried they would charge me twice.

I'm not too bothered as I will return the one ordered online if I don't get to cancel on time. When you order from apple they secure the amount from your card but don't actually take payment till it is despatched.

Good morning to all you UK folk!

If anyone is interested I have compiled this large table comparing all of the international iPad 2 prices I could find and also have converted every price into GBP and USD just for an interesting comparison.

Have opened a thread here too if anyone would like to comment.

I hope you find it useful!

do these take taxes into account? doesn't look like it, eg: uk price includes VAT, but US price doesn't etc...

the way to compare apple products is to remove taxes/vat... this compares the raw price.. then you can see how much the local govt is stinging you for extras!!

All these prices are the tax inclusive prices listed on the recent Apple press releases regarding the Friday launch of the iPad 2. I figured taking this total price (or what I thought was the total price - you say US has extra tax on top?) would be the easiest way to compare.

US prices are quoted excluding tax in the Apple press release. Standard practice in the US as tax varies by state.

Similarly the VAT rate charged in Europe varies by country hence the difference in price.

Does anyone know if Argos will be taking online reservations/collect in store requests from 5:01pm??

If so that would save the headache of queueing..

I'll be trying to reserve via phone tomorrow morning. Cannot at the moment because the price is £9999. Reservations have a cap of £1000.

Argos say they don't have any at the moment, but weren't expecting any till tomorrow morning anyway.

PCWorld say they don't for the same reason, and to DEFINITELY expect Queues.

CPW Say to check back tomorrow morning too, and don't really expect many people. They're also happy to accept names on a First Come First Served (for names).

man that sucks.. just say you have an emergency or something!! which it kind of is.. lol

lol, problem is my whole team is out for one reason or another this week, and my boss is working in NYC, can't really leave nobody here for a whole afternoon.

to be fair to him, he did say he'd try get me an ipad out there but he hasnt had any luck at the apple store!

Hey everyone,

I've been informed that my Argos store got stock in today.

Call your local Argos store and ask if you can reserve one from about 1pm or so (when delivery is away).

Hope this helps.

i know what you are saying, i badly want to get my ipad straight away but saying that I have never had one so waiting over a week is hardly going to hurt.

Anyone else feel like there 12 again and its Christmas Eve ?

No, i never had to queue up to open my presents on christmas day, i just had to wake my lazy sister up and force her to come downstairs!

Also unless i had been really bad, i was guaranteed a present :(

My camping portable gas stove. Gotta eat decent grub :) it's a long wait and I have needs. Will take extra burgers for my fellow queuers :)

Where you queuing? :D

The queue has already begun on Regent Street for Apple’s iPad 2 which goes on sale in the UK tomorrow evening at 5pm.
32 year old personal banker Jewels Lewis from Notting Hill began queuing at 7:30am this morning after negotiating time off from his job as a personal banker.

i was speaking to the manager at my local pc world and he told me that they had been chosen to be the local store to get the ipad 2 on friday but told me they have only been given 20 units for friday and said that this the norm from apple and all the stock they have ordered (200 units) will come in for delivery on the monday for sale - "its apples way of building up the hype be restricting the stock to begin with so they can say its sold out and sell more"
