Hereford & Worcester PC World and Currys will have no stock on Friday!

Comet will have 1 32gb Wifi in stock..................1!!!!!

Argos - no idea!

Best Buy - Merry Hill, no idea!

I hate this 5pm launch - don't think I will be able to get anywhere with enough time to spare.

is there still no confirmation as to when we might be able to use the reserve system on the argos site/phone line? my plan is currently to order from apple at 1am, but try argos on the friday, i'm stuck at work until 5.30 so can't get to argos til 6, tho a friend might pick one up at 5pm for me if poss. I'm stuck in Newbury, so still not even sure my argos will get any!!

I noticed today that you can't "reserve and collect" the Nintendo 3DS so I wouldn't hold out hope.

PC World Worcester told me today they will and Comet Worcester have already taken deposits for a couple, but got an email today from head office saying they were not to take anymore. But will have stock.

Actually it's very good. You just need to know how to use it properly to get the most out of it;)

But you said stores were going to be inundated with iPAD 2 didnt you[1] :p :p :p ;)

Bloatwares the best that can be said about it.:p

Needs (IMO) to be two seperate applications, one a lightweight media player (Apple could do a lot worse that 'borrow heavilly' from the Media Player interface).

A second application that acts as a store front.

At the very least the windows version needs a LOT of "cleaning"

[1]That was meant in jest and hope it is taken that way

My local comet advised me they were only getting 1 of each model in...and then they let me reserve the one I wanted :D They already had a few reservations made.

Since I've taken the whole day off work anyway, I'm gonna pop in just after 9 just to ensure everything is ok and they're not changing their mind about reservations (which I do suspect!) and then if there's any problems I'll try reserve one at Argos. If I can't do that, to the Glasgow Apple store I shall go.

Question: Is the 32GB wifi only version generally the most popular? It's the one I was planning on getting (not sure black or white yet). So if this sells out I might have to decide on a second choice model - I want to avoid getting a 16GB model as I know I'll need more than this. So what do people think - would it be best to go for a 64GB wifi only, or a 32GB wifi+3G, the latter being £20 more expensive? It's a tough choice as I could see myself occasionally using a 3G service if it was there, but it's not essential.

The 16GB is most popular i think. But that was before the price decrease this time around

God knows!! I phoned the main Customer Service number and that is what they said to me.

Either way, it's really looking unlikely that I will be getting one on Friday :(

This forum has made it worse for me - I wasn't that fussed before - now I NEED one!!! Although it would be quite handy for a work commitment I have on Sunday!

isit worth getting the 3g though just for the gps, even if you are only going to use it via wifi/tethering?

Whats everyone getting for cases/skins etc?

Rob

In my opinion the £100 extra your paying for it isnt worth it, but! Im buying a 3G model anyway (want the freedom of 3G). :D

I'm going down the Belkin path as they offer better value for money.

I seriously adore the idea and thought that went into the Smart Cover, but it just doesn't cover the back and I couldn't bear a scratch. I wish Apple would release a case like the one for the current iPad 1.

16GB Wifi for me, using GPS from iPhone 4.

Need to phone PCWorld tomorrow, and a friend can hook me up with an Argos Discount, so will be rolling around the UK for that.

Still looking for SKU's myself. iPad wifi has assisted GPS which is crap. 3g iPad has proper GPS.

iPad wifi does not have assisted GPS. It does not have GPS at all. It works out your location from the wireless networks it picks up.

iPad 3G has assisted GPS, which is GPS with the added ability to use wireless networks to get a faster lock on.

A-GPS is better than GPS.

Just clearing this up because many people read "assisted GPS" on spec sheets and think it is somehow "not real" GPS, which is not true.

Exactly, it is real GPS but assisted = better.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to be disappointed once again. I had to wait ages for my iPhone 4 and now my iPad 2. You would think that Apple would ensure sufficient stock would be made available and I would be disgusted to think that London once again gets all the priority. What about the rest of us?

Their marketing dept should realise that if they look after us then we would be a little more loyal. Making people queue outside their shop is just a way to generate media interest and nothing more. All this speculation could be stopped and people will be much happier with a simple post/announcement on the numbers that will be made available. Do they really think 20 of each model will be enough to satisfy the interest? Foolish.

I'm kind of tempted to get the 3G even though I have mifi (would use same sim, cut down) because it saves having another thing to charge/carry. But I'm not sure I'd use GPS. And I can't really justify another £100. And case wise, I want a smart cover, but can't decide between pink, red or navy. Again, can't justify the extra £24! Then I'm getting a cheap iPad 1 sock and hoping it will be okay for the iPad 2 with case. Then that will protect the back and I can rest the iPad on it with folded back smart cover which should stop it getting dirty! Ah my carefully thought out plans... Bet they don't work!
