iPad 2 UK Thread

I'll be trying to reserve via phone tomorrow morning. Cannot at the moment because the price is £9999. Reservations have a cap of £1000.

Argos say they don't have any at the moment, but weren't expecting any till tomorrow morning anyway.

PCWorld say they don't for the same reason, and to DEFINITELY expect Queues.

CPW Say to check back tomorrow morning too, and don't really expect many people. They're also happy to accept names on a First Come First Served (for names).

Is no-one concerned about buying from a non-Apple store?
In light of the light bleed issues etc, you do know the resistance to exchanging stuff with Currys/Comet et al?

Well that's my bubble burst then... :(

My replacement credit card which was dispatched on Saturday didn't arrive today... I have the pin number but no card!

There goes my online ordering chance then! Hopefully it will arrive during the day tomorrow and I will have a crack at a queue. For once, the 5pm launch could end up being a good thing!

I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream is gone from me.

Surely that doesn't matter? Can you not take any apple product back to an apple store? Does it HAVE to be bought directly from Apple?

Or am I just being totally stupid (quite possible, it is only 9.25am after all).

They won't restock a product they didn't sell no!

Yes you can. Just make a genius appointment and they should exchange it. Did this with an iPhone 3GS.

Main advantage of the Apple store is the 14 day return period if you don't like the device.

sorry to hear that mate could you ask a friend or a parent if you could use there card and give them the cash?

Shame theres no 2nd post anymore. Remember when you waiting for something to arrive & if it didnt arrive before breakfast then you could always go to school/work hoping it would be waiting for you when you came home.

To the person who was asking about dixons travel at Glasgow airport, they won't be stocking it tomorrow, they might in the future but not tomorrow, nearest was Edinburgh

Sadly this card is interest free on purchases (want to pay for it all over 3 or 4 months) so if someone else pays, and I transfer the money to them, I have to pay interest! D'oh!

I think you're wrong.

I got an iPhone 4 on contract from vodafone and had it exchanged twice. This wasn't bought from Apple.

And the warranty should cover it no matter where it was bought from.

Mark

That was a special case for the iPhone 4 because it was a ****ty product that didn't work properly when held normally.

I dont think they'll take most products back without them having been purchased at the Apple store! but I may be wrong...

The warranty will cover any faults with the device, but I seriously doubt Apple stores will issue a refund unless it was bought directly from them.

Applecare just extends the standard one year warranty to two (and longer access to the free telephone support).

So you don't need it unless you expect the problem to appear after a year.

Anyone in London heading to Brent Cross?

I *might* go to Brent Cross tomorrow
I'll see how I get on online, then might pop along about 3'ish
If the queue is silly by then, I 'll go home
So if you are queuing at Brent Cross, keep us posted as to queue length please :D

I went PC World TCR, not very helpful, but I guess I didn't speak to the right person, as that store is listed on the PC World website for having iPad 2 on launch.

Correct...

For the sake of clarity...

If you buy an iPad from an Apple Store you have a 14 day period in which you can return the device for a full refund. The only exception to this would be if you have damaged the iPad etc... This is a painless process and one of the many benefits of purchasing at an Apple Store.

If you buy an iPad from a third party vendor, e.g. Currys, Comet et al, it is extremely unlikely that they will offer you a refund without one hell of a fight. If the device is faulty they will normally offer to send it away for repair. Apple will also not offer a refund on a product purchased from a third party vendor.

However, if you purchase a iPad from a third party vendor and it is faulty the best solution is to make a genius appointment at an Apple Store. In the case of an iDevice they will perform a test and if faulty will exchange it for a refurbished model. In the case of the iPad 2 this will be a new unit for the foreseeable future as reconditioned units will not be available. The unit will be separate stock from the normal retail boxed iPads.

Hope this helps...
