iPad 2 UK Thread

yeah and I don't mind wandering off to buy food or drinks for us n that. We need to all help each other in these exciting times. I'm sooo excited it hurts.

How do we do this? Do I wear a red carnation or something? I can't see a way of PM'ing you on here so I can give you my email or tel no etc.

Just got off phone from Argos CS. they said ipad 2 will be able to be ordered online tommorow from 5pm for home delivery but at this time they dont know delivery timescales.
She confirmed that some stores will be stocking them but at this moment they dont know which ones????

there's only about 60 odd stores i think that sell iPads anyway, so it would be one of those i guess...
 
is anyone going into sheffield meadowhall Apple tomorrow?
i am just wondering if i should go but i do not finish work till 3.30 so wont be there will 4.30.
anyone know what lines will be like? are british people as crazy as people in the states?

what do you guys think the line will be like? i have no experience with this as i have never waited in line ever.
i am in leeds but closest to me is Sheffield.
 
Just seen MacWorldUK tweet that currys/PC World are accepting trade ins on the originial iPad when purchasing an iPad 2. No word on how much they will give... No article on their page yet.
 
The customer limit is 2 per person at pcworld and Currys , and that includes separate transactions, so you can't buy two Friday and two more next week

I haven't heard anything about this at my work, I work for Currys/pcworld
 
Anybody want to "buddy-up" for Cardiff Apple store tomorrow - I'll be there 1ish at a guess.... Handy for loo & food breaks etc...

I wouldn't say we're as crazy as the states but by 4:30 the line will be huge.
 
Does anyone have any idea what Amazon might be doing? For example would we be able to get a Saturday delivery like you can on other products?
 
Just popped into Covent Garden (work near by) and spoke to a nice lady there about iPad 2. After 5 minutes, she told me that they were expecting half the supply of Regents Street - circa 500 across all models :/

There's been a lack of info from them... apart from their page where you register for interest... and i've not heard anything from them

Is that with the GoPro? There's no way to get the footage onto the iPad anyway, without a computer to convert the movies to add to iTunes then for iPad. So might as well just do it with the computer?

There is such thing as consumer law - they cannot opt out of this.
 
KRCS Update

Spoke with my local KRCS after about a week... he said they won't know what stock they have until they open the boxes at 5pm tomorrow.

So i asked what if 100 people had been queuing up since 9am, only to find out at 5pm, when you opened the box, that there were only 10 x iPad 2's. His reply was "there would be a lot of disappointed people".

I mean.. wtf kinda crap is that?

This whole uncertainty and lack of information is really getting on my tits now... i may just order online at 1am, and then forget about it.. job done...

by the sounds of things there will be many disappointed people tomorrow

Pc world

Spoke to a chap at my local PC World (Catford, London).


they will be getting ZERO for tomorrow. He said only the top 160 stores in the UK will.. i.e. the Megastores.. nearest one to here is Croydon.

will you guys be kind enough to save me a spot if i decide to come to manchester instead of sheffield?
i dont finish work till 3.30 but i am kinda thinking maybe i could get the afternoon off.....
 
Well i'm happy as I don't think many people will be heading to the Cambridge Apple store :) Also have an Argos, PCworld and comet within a few minutes if that fails.
