Just ordered the cover .. it means I can get the iPad from anywhere and not 'worry' about the cover thing. Will use my old iPad 1 cover if there's an overlap where I have the iPad but no cover :)
This thing is really happening .. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D

i don't think it's really "ordered"... check your "my orders" section.. does it appear there? mine doesnt (uk store)

Seems my friend was right - Apple Stores have signs in the window saying they're closing at 3pm to get ready.

Bit like Chinese whispers but "word on the street" seems to be that the key stores are stuffed to bursting with brown boxes full of iPads. No firm numbers but it seems to be "a lot".

According to a friend (of a friend... working in a pretty high up position at the Brighton Apple Store) they're getting A LOT of iPads in stock.

The supply isn't unlimited but they're not expecting anything like the issues in the US.

They're still sort of in the dark about fine details of how the launch will be handled but it's expected that the store will be shutting around 3pm for a "bit of a refit" and opening again at 5.

I do know the person in question and know that they are in a "position of power" so to speak but I'm not a close friend so this info hasn't been given to me first hand.

I don't have any reason to disbelieve this though.

Anything to do with the iPad 2 online was always going to be 2-3 minimum. Apple want the stock to be as high as possible for people that have taken the time to queue up.

If it was next day delivery on the iPad 2 online why would people queue? leaving Apple with no free press :)

I wish it was less but thats the reason its not.

2-3 weeks shipping on the first orders online really sucks monkey balls
That is truly ridiculous
*switches rant mode off
Oh well

well thats my strategy nailed now if it is 2-3 weeks shipping. Will order at 1am and then try to get one somewhere tommorrow, if succesful i will cancel on line order as im sure they dont charge card until it has shipped!!

ps ordered case as well but does not show in orders????

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

I believe that the delivery times will be 3-5 days initially when iPad ordering goes live at 1am. This is just my opinion though.

Gonna just stick it out around Notts and hope I get one I think.

Probably won't.

Does anyone know when Apple charge your card on online orders? My account would not take 2 x £579...

Remember when ordering online that while they don't take the money from your account until shipping, it is effectively set aside and unavailable to spend. At least it has been every time I've ordered something from Apple regardless of whether it goes on a visa debit or credit card.

Just in case you order online and rock up to a store tomorrow thinking you have more funds than you actually do. Having cancelled an order with Apple, the money doesn't go back straight away either, it can take 2 or 3 days to reappear as available funds.

Just thought I'd mention it :)

If it's 2-3 weeks on the australian store... then what's it going to be by the time the aussies have ordered a bunch, and so have all the other launch countries that pass 1AM before we do? They might sell another million or so by the time it's our turn!

Just got confirmation email for the COVER

Ok, so the cover order actually went through fine .. I also used it for the '1-click test' which will be used later assuming I can stay awake until 1am! .. The munchkins wear down my ability to stay up late! lol
