What are all the complainers looking for in the new ipad that it doesnt have? You were never going to get a higher res screen right now, so what else is there to complain about? To me Apple has done everything they needed to for an upgrade. They are unable to mass produce a screen with double the resolution so I was not expecting that.

Personally I was looking for some OS upgrades, they did virtually nothing to the OS. The hardware stuff is a decent incremental upgrade, but in all honesty I would have been happy with more RAM and nothing else except a revamped OS.

Holy F'en crap they are still talking about garage band on the live event. I'll have to assume there are no other announcements then and this is what we are getting.

This is exactly what I was thinking. They have nothing to offer anymore. It took them under 15 minutes to show off the iPad, and 10 minutes for each accesory. They just spent an hour on iMove and Garageband. LOL!

IMO, it's basically identical to the current one. Last year, I bought one in a hurry. This year, I'd think twice. They put 2 cameras in it, and new processor, and a new design. Overall, I think I might pass on this one.

What do you think?

What do I think? Short of a "retina" screen there is nothing more the could realistically have done.

You probably wish they changed the design. Oh wait, they did. Dramatically!

You would probably be barely satisfied with a quad core and relatively happy with 8 cores.

i hope they make a version of the old case for this thing, i actually liked the old case

I'm pretty certain I'll be replacing my current iPad with the white iPad 2. Apple did pretty good with this update, in my opinion.

I'm a tech nerd so I'll buy one at Best Buy ASAP, compare it to my iPad 1, and if I don't feel it's a necessary upgrade I'll return it.

Anyone know if the memory was increased??

Yep. I got stuck using iMovie the other day and I have to say - one of the most annoying editing experiences I've ever had. Downgraded to iMovie 6 HD from iMovie 9. Ew man

Plus who cares about garageband. They are making this into a toy - why feature apps, how about featuring feautures

+1 It's not that I dislike the concept of the "cover", it's just that I can see that nice aluminum backing getting all scratched up. My current ipad is pristine thanks to the apple case. Plus the ipad is so slippery I'd never trust my sausage fingers with it naked.

Why are people getting angry? LOL.

I'm just saying. Last year, they really had something to give. Everything was awesome! The only reason I'm not interested to buy it is because I'll be using the SAME OS to do the SAME thing I usually use it for. If they changed the OS just a little bit, like Android did with Honeycomb, I'd probably rush to buy it like last year.

What is the difference in weight between the new one and than the old one?

What's the difference in battery life between the new one and the old one? Thanks.

guys, hdmi mirroring

is kinda win, i love that, and it would help me so in my job.

im thinking of picking the white one, just to stand out, dunno, im a guy.

anyways, **** ye apple, you didnt dissapoint

I think the takeaway is that unless someone really likes Honeycomb, I don't see any compelling reason to buy a tablet other than an iPad based on hardware and price.

I believe the new apps are pretty significant. My impression is that the gulf between really ambitious iOS apps and Android apps is going widen.

Same battery

Weight is 0.2 pounds

or about 100grams

OMG the iPad 2 is so disappointing, I mean, where is the:

- 8 mp rear facing camera with flash
- Retina display
- SD Card slot
- Thunderbolt port
- USB port
- LTE
- 128 GB storage
- and, most of all, the Honeycomb like interface - I was waiting for a massive UI overhaul, but no, this is Steve Jobs. I need a better Safari, Photos, Notifications, Widgets and a better Maps app.

Kidding!!! - sort of. It's a good, solid 1.5 iPad upgrade. Nothing revolutionary (apart from garageband), but it's OK - much better than how bad people are making it out to be.

That's funny, because they increased what you can do with it quite a bit - both the HDMI output and the cameras open up functionality. They're not something like being able to twiddle icons around, I grant that, but I am sure people will find a use for those two things.

The big changes I want will have to wait for iOS 5.

As far as hardware goes this is a solid update.

I'll probably buy it soon but I don't own any iPad right now. As an upgrade I don't think I'd advise people to rush out and buy a 2nd one.

iPad 1 is 1.5 pounds
iPad 2 is 1.3 pounds

Battery life stayed the same at 10 hours.

i agree, with the same price point and tons of new features, and improved cpu graphics it has a killer price. 800 dollars for a xoom, no thanks, while i love the notifcations etc in honeycomb.

the ipad 2 is just killer

Lot's of interesting things I'll never use.

I think that sums it up.
