If this had of come out a couple months ago I would have been excited. Spose that's the thing about rumours so far in advance, right? Like opening christmas presents to sneak a look.

As for instruments I play guitar and piano and I'd rather play the real thing thanks.

I think the white one looks whack.Distracting to action on the screen too.

iTunes home sharing is GREAT. HDMI mirroring is awesome too. Look forward to seeing the video quality I would totally use that being a dad.

Was hoping for usb port for connectivity of cameras so you can tether on location.

I will get one in black. Hopefully carriers will subsidise them straight away.

No talk of RAM anywhere, spose it's same as last one?

No retina = no sale. The thing is a snooze-fest. Call me when iPad has a retina display, otherwise I'll stick with my 11" MacBook Air.

Seriously, the pixels on that thing are huge. It is straight up unacceptable.

Well.. I use my 27"imac as well as my Ipad and I[phone 4, and I would hardly call the Ipad display unacceptable. Unless I'm actually looking for the visible pixels, I really don't notice any difference between the 3 devices.

They all serve their purpose.

As far as me upgrading....not this time. Don't need a camera or faster processor to surf the net and answer emails, or watch tv on the Ipad1.

Sure I would rather have the Ipad 2, but the upgrade isn't worth it to me at this time....maybe later!

I'm a little surprised there wasn't more because it's starting to seem like the iPad 3 can't possibly meet the expectations everyone will have next year already. Ask yourself what the odds are that the iPad 3 will include all of the following while maintaining anything close to 10 hours battery life:

Retina display
128 GB storage
LTE and global/world 3G
A6 quad core processor

Seems slim to nil that we get all those things. Maybe no Retina display until iPad 4? I guess development on some of these features is basically split with the iPhone, so maybe that's how they do it? Still, with all those things likely coming sooner than later (and considering how much of a game changer any of those three combined would be), jumping in on the iPad 2 seems like a waste of money to me.

We're halfway there. The dual-core processor and new GPU were both nice surprises. The new thin casing is a home run. The lower weight is good. Now put a retina display and 1 GB of RAM (I would bet quite a bit this one has 512 MB) and they'll have a product I want to buy.

Why are people getting angry? LOL.

I'm just saying. Last year, they really had something to give. Everything was awesome! The only reason I'm not interested to buy it is because I'll be using the SAME OS to do the SAME thing I usually use it for. If they changed the OS just a little bit, like Android did with Honeycomb, I'd probably rush to buy it like last year.

I agree completely. Its great hardware updates but nothing special. What REALLY needs the overhaul is the OS because we need a new notification system, widgets (weather, email, Cal, FB etc) to get info without requiring opening each app, and multitasking to rival WebOS. I expect these all in iOS5 but we'll just have to wait...

A retina display for iPad would cost over $2,500. Not happening for a while.

Let's see.... 135PPI on the 11.6" Air versus 132PPI on the iPad. Yeah, you're right, that's just unacceptable! Actually with the exception of the smaller Air the iPad has a higher pixel density than ANY Apple laptop, just FYI.

So I'll asume this thread will be full of whining about unrealistic expectations not being met and just skip the rest. For me the iPad 2 is a tempting upgrade, largely because I've got to replace the wife's laptop this year and my current iPad would be perfect for her. Frankly the ridiculous depth of the new unit is almost reason enough in and of itself to upgrade, the rest is just a bonus.

The key for me is going to be iOS 5. If they introduce significant changes there that make full use of that dual core processor then I'll upgrade. With the developer preview surely not far off now we should have a reasonable view of what's coming within the next month or so.

I think it's a decent upgrade, but I am definitely going to wait until iPad 3, which I am certain will come out in the fall of 2011. Lets face facts, this upgrade is not enough to keep Apple at the top of the market for the next 12 months. No way! To keep up with the competition, they are going to need to launch iPad 3 this fall.

IMO, the iPad is different than the iPod or iPhone. The iPod pretty much owns the mp3 market, and the iPhone has no viable competition. Depsite it's flaws, the XOOM is definitely the first iPad competition. Apple is going to have to keep up with the market, which is catching up on tablet devices. iPad 2 looks great, but the real tour-de-force is going to be iPad 3, and for me it is worth waiting another 6 to 9 months.

I think people are confused by the term memory and thinks its about the RAM.

I think its huge, improved gpu, new games that really take the power of the device, output that to the tv = win.

Save me some time in work, and now i can easily demo all my stuff on the big screen. Awesome.

I think its a huge upgrade, and i do think you will see quad next year, as they are already coming this fall

It would cost 2.5 times a 27" Cinema display? Nonsense. The rumors have more or less confirmed that Apple's deal with Samsung was for retina displays on the next iPad.

Everything that Apple is doing, across its product lines, suggests major resolution enhancement following Lion. I'm sure the iPad will go along for the ride.

what you are talking about, it got the same speccs or better then the best android tablet out there, at half the price point almost. There is not going to be a tablet this fall.

speccs arent everything, look at xoom ,even with a 1gb of ram, and tegra 2, pinch to zoom lags like crazy

Anybody else HATE the redesign? I think the first formfactor looke much better, and they could have stuffed an even bigger battery in. Sometimes I despise Apple's lust for thinness...

For me, I am surprised by the lack of:

Increase in capacities, should start at 32GB and go up to at least 128G or 256G in my opinion.

New input, no USB, Thunderbolt, same old same old.

Everything new seems logical to me, so it was no big surprise.

It is nice to see they are keeping the price, so in fact you are getting more with the newer model without having to pay more.

Not sure if its enough to compel current iPad users to upgrade though, they might wait another year for the next release.

Seriously doubt that iMovie would work under the current iPad memory constraints, so I think this one has more memory. Apple has never been one to release memory amounts, in fact I looked at their iPhone 4 info and couldn't find how much memory it has on their official specs pages.

Personally as an iPad 1 owner, I don't see anything really compelling that will make me buy an iPad 2. The problem will be if tons of great apps come out that only support iPad 2 and not iPad 1...

Really hope that iPad 1 with OS 4.3 will also get the Safari speed boost mentioned in the presentation.

What do I think?
If I had an iPad 1, I would think the upgrades are nice but not worth buying a new iPad over.

iPad 2 is the whole reason I held out on getting an iPad 1.

Should be fast enough to put me off buying an air... so I'm in.

The main issue I had with the last one was - it was too slow on the internet.. it became frustrating.. and the lag for the keyboard - it couldn't keep up.

Those issues should be remedied.. so this to me, is a good update.
