People don't watch the keynote to see the new Apple products anymore. They just watch them to see what things in the keynote are what they expected to be there.

All I ever hear these days is the iPad is expected to have this and expected to have that and expected to do this and expected to do that.

I think most articles go like this these days.
"blab blah blah expected blah blah blah expected expected blah."
Does not matter what the blah blah is. it's all the same.
X person or people expect this or that from Apple. And they will be happy or sad in the future whether or not Apple does what they have expected Apple to do. No variety. All mindless sheep with the same articles.

I really don't understand your point.What"variety"are you craving?Car chases?Sex scenes?Gun battles?

You sound like a socialist right up Obama's alley. This is America... and we are all free to do whatever we want with our own money... and not have someone TELL US what we need to do with it.

Ha ha ha, that is delusional!!!! You just object to the gov't telling you where to spend your money. You are more than happy for corporations such as :apple: to fill that roll instead!

Just sayin' - that's the way it is. :D Companies spend umpteen times the national budget telling you how to spend your money in the media. That's our reality - nothing against you, but I hope you can disengage yourself enough to step back and realize this.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Of course it will support Siri! So will Apple TV 3! Time to break out the credit card so Apple can take my money.

Well, technically, they take the bank's money... It is the bank that take yours... (unless you don't pay your bills...)

Stupid...

This seems like the first time we've seen a side view of the thickness up against an iPad 2 (unless I missed something earlier). The difference is so small that it really won't make much of a difference. If you didn't tell people, I don't see how they'd ever notice.

And that's exactly it...no one will know the difference which is soooo stupid... Tim Cook doesn't know how to lead Apple and just keeps Steve's old designs...i hope ALL design rumors are wrong and we see a radically different design...who agrees?

It will be really awkward if the iPad 3 (or iPad 2S, iPad HD, whatever) won't come out with the same look as we're seeing.

I'm shocked--shocked, I say!--to find no one bitched about SIRI on the iPad. While most people either don't care or would like it, there was a small, vociferous group here recently that claimed SIRI was stupid on anything other than an iPhone.

The only hurdle for SIRI is to get microphones which can distinguish voices farther away than a couple inches. If Apple (or anyone) breaks that little problem, and they will, almost everything will be taking voice commands soon. I hope the iPad has a functioning SIRI, but I could do without it and not shed a tear.

For secretarial work, dictation of mail and documents would be a beautiful killer-app. Naturally you would want to edit the document later since we tend to speak quite different from how we write.

I have to agree the glass looks more inset this time around. Although that could be from the missing mid-frame if a iPad has one.

So either I see it being the same thickness or Apple not mentioning a word about it being thicker.

You do realize that Apple has 5 years of products in the pipeline under Steve Jobs, with this one being one of them right? Competitors are barely catching up to the first iPad, and now Apple is releasing the iPad 3. Brilliant move on their part I'd say.

totally agree with you. I don't see the point of upgrading to the ipad 3 if you have an ipad 2. I would understand people upgrading from their ipad 1 but not from the ipad 2. spending 500 or 600 just because of a better display, better camera and a better processor, its not like you do a lot of demanding stuff on an ipad. I find it funny how people these days just waste money. People should stop squandering their money and do something productive with it.

Retina display itself is enough to justify the upgrade from an iPad 2 for $200-$300. Higher end CPU and GPU are just icing on the cake. Just because you lack the funds to upgrade, don't dump on the party for the rest of us. K? :)

Holy hyperbole Batman! The 2012 U.S. budget is approx $3.7 trillion . I don't know of any company in the world with an advertising/PR budget even 10% of that amount.

More to the point if advertising and PR was as completely brain washing as you contend we'd all be driving Chevy Volts and clamouring 3D TVs. Advertising/PR is effective, but as the saying goes, you can't polish a turd. People buy stuff they like.

I still dont get the smart cover. It's got to be the worse possible option for a case. The second you put that iPad down, the back of it will be scratched to pieces!

You cant beat a third party front & back one IMO.

owned my iPad 2 since release and only used a green smart cover..
put that thing in my backpack and used it everywhere..let my friends kids use it..everything.

Just sold it on craigslist last week and listed it as LIKE NEW condition..and it was not a lie. Not a single scratch on the back..i was honestly a bit surprised myself.

even after sticking stickers allover the back and having to remove them with razor and goo gone...was surprisingly like new..
one thing i can say about apple aluminum is that is doesnt wear easily (there is no anodizing to rub off)

also, what is with all of these people who are surprised or think that this info isn't legit.
anyone who has been following apple releases for even the past 5 years would know that a few days before a device intro..there are ALWAYS part supply chain leaks..
i can't remember a recent apple device (especially i devices) that DIDNT have some sort of parts leak..
this is par for the course...

its ipad 2 s it looks nothing like which ll hold the label of ipad 3, just like ip 4s this is an incremental but essential update

I find it funny how much Apple allowed this product to leak. It is like companies don't care about corporate secrets any more. One of the most leaked products ever. To be fair it wouldn't hard to predict Apple's product line up for the next few years.

The iPhone 4S was pretty well leaked last year too. Especially that new slim tapered design. :p

I think Apple knows more about what's leaked than we give them credit for.

nobody..

absolutely NOBODY agrees with that statement

apple has a lot of stuff that is to be revealed this year and coming 2013, its not wise to point fingers at tim cook, the company is in good shape and it ll cont. to be,

Yes, because we all live on the streets and spend all of the money we can scrape together on a gadget rather than pay for food to feed our equally homeless families.

I sold my iPad 2, sold an extra monitor I had, and have been working side jobs for "play money" so that I can buy an iPad 3 that will in turn provide not only entertainment, but also a solid device to work off of when I travel. When I buy an iPad 3 it will be with money that I worked hard to earn outside of my normal income/budget exactly for this purpose.

We do productive things so that we can afford to buy a gadget every now and again. Making stupid generalizations about people that you know nothing about makes you ignorant.

How would you propose they create a "radically different design" given the current capabilities of the unit?

Sold my iPad 2 today so I'm now ready for this device, I took a guess that the iPad 3 wouldn't be thicker than the iPad 2 and if there is any difference, it will only be marginal. I'm hoping so anyway.... That retina display will be a true joy.....

I really, *REALLY* don't understand people like this.

You sold an iPad 2, to buy an iPad 3?

Why?

How Exactly would you change the design of the iPad 2?

The Design is Beautiful, iPhone 4S's too.
