Of course it will support Siri! So will Apple TV 3! Time to break out the credit card so Apple can take my money.

Ok, so if AppleTV 3 supports Siri, how easy would it be to use a device that doesn't support Siri to send requests through the ATV? Much like the proxy method people are using now with the 4s.
Perhaps Apple will support this method giving people Siri on any iOS device over Wifi if they have an AppleTV.
You could have your own Siri assistant right in your house to answer all your questions. If they could keep the $99 price tag it would be great.

I really, *REALLY* don't understand people like this.

You sold an iPad 2, to buy an iPad 3?

Why?

An you never will, so stop trying.

Some folks have more disposable income than others and do not need to sacrifice wants for needs.

I have to agree with several of you guys. Its a killjoy to see the new products in advance which makes the presentations less exciting, but yet I'm drawn to this kind of news. :)

It's not a shock. The bigger a person or company is, the more folks want to take the piss. These sites and such know that Apple loathes leaks etc so it's a game to do it as much as they can as a way to flip the finger at Apple

----------

I always place it on the table SC down... It would be a bit pointless to leave it on its unprotected side, don't you think?

I rarely put my down flat. but when I do it's typically either 'closed' and face down or open with the smart cover under it to be out of the way. I used to worry about putting it in my work bag but then the boss got me one with a pocket just for the iPad so nothing scrapes it.

----------

Tim Cook doesn't know how to lead Apple and just keeps Steve's old designs.

Or Tim most definitely knows what he's doing and isn't going to change a working design just to have a new design.

----------

You sold an iPad 2, to buy an iPad 3?

Because he wanted to. And that's all the reason he needs. He could have not sold the iPad 2 and still gotten an iPad 3 if that's what he wanted and frankly you have no business saying anything about either.

And that's exactly it...no one will know the difference which is soooo stupid... Tim Cook doesn't know how to lead Apple and just keeps Steve's old designs...

When a design works, why screw with it?

Apple has moved from being innovative to iconic. Design recognition is almost as powerful as brand recognition now. I don't blame Cook for not taking a new path with the iPad 3... really all that was needed to make an iPad 2 into a better, if not the best, tablet was the retina screen.

I thought disco was dead?

Long live the iPad!

I'll be ordering the HD or 3 or whatever's its called on day one. Period.

Fingers crossed for 128GB.

Look at the Apple 'logo.' This is not real!!

Look at the cutout for the Apple logo's stem. Now look at an Apple logo. The cutout is too big and the stem appears attached to the apple. And notice a couple of shots in the video show an iPad 2 case with the real logo and then you see the attached stem in later shots again Clearly another fake!

Although we've already seen many stories about possible iPad 3 part leaks over the past few weeks, MIC Gadget has been able to get its hands on the rumored parts for the iPad 3 Front Glass, Rear Shell, and 3rd party cases.

The site put them together in this nice overview video:

YouTube: video
The video shows the iPad 3 exterior assembled, but no internal parts. They reiterate previous findings, such as a slightly thicker shell, larger camera lens, and slightly more tapered design. MIC Gadget, however, was also able to confirm that existing iPad 2 magnetic Smart Covers will work with the new design. Finally, they found that 3rd party iPad 3 cases which are already available to purchase do match up with the back shell.

The site seems to believe the iPad 3 will incorporate Siri. Apple introduced the Siri voice assistant with the iPhone 4S launch, but hasn't yet extended its support to any other devices.

Apple is expected to announce the iPad 3 at a media event that is taking place on Wednesday, March 7th.

Or, in my case, I'm just paying the depreciation on my iDevices now instead of in a couple years when I'll need to upgrade because my original iPad either broke or is no longer able to do what I want it to. The depreciation I paid on my iPad was about 100 bucks. If i pay that every year, after 5 years I'll have paid for a new iPad. I'd say you wouldn't say someone upgrading a 5 year old device to one that's new would have too much disposable income...

Take another look, this time use your brain.

For the people complaining about no design change how would you change it?

I cannot think of a way to change it and keep it slim. What do you want a Triangle iPad? I really hope you do not want a 16:9 iPad. All glass iPad like the iPhone? What? Tell me because I cannot see a way to change it.

Where did those cases come from? I'd like to get that clear case before the 3 is released, assuming this is legit.

That's exactly what my thought was. My iPad isn't even coming out of the box until I have a back cover. I still have my smart cover from my iPad 2 and I have the screen protectors all ready to go, but I need that back protection. I would gladly buy a case now so that it's here in time.

Agreed, I used mine once, then attached the Griffin clear rear cover. The SC is now for sale...I'm amazed at how many people still use them...A gimmick and one that can as you say, cause scratching and damage.
Funny I use a smart cover and I don't have any scratches on mine.

why should they create a new design just for the sake of something different. I'm not suggesting keep this design forever but I don't think it's necessary to change up their designs every year unless there is some great technology advancement where it makes sense for them to do so.

exactly my strategy.. it's actually cheaper selling the last gen model and buying the newer model than waiting 4/5 years and upgrading brand new.

IMO Apple is first and foremost a design and marketing company. They make products you lust after and market them very well. When they have a design that works they don't mess with it too much. Jony Ive has said that new and different are easy but better is hard. I think Apple works really hard at the better part and once they get there they don't mess with it.

You gotta love the apple:apple: porn... lol

Absolutely, I think all videos like this should have music that sounds like it came from a 80's "glamour" video.

two quick thoughts:

1. As far as people talking about whether or not they will upgrade from an iPad 2, I get it. I think it's a worthy topic and a lot of the tech blogs will focus on this after it's released and after it's reviewed.

Just remember Apple doesn't care. Their goal is not to have everyone who has one buy another. Many will, and that's all good, but Apple's goal is to sell to the people who haven't yet bought one. Consider the 4S, everyone agreed that their is no compelling reason to upgrade if you have a 4 (and while many did, most didn't). And they have sold more 4s's than every other iPhone put together.

2. My guess is that Apple wants Siri on all iOS devices, but I will not be surprised if it's missing from the iPad 3. Anyone who has a 4s can attest to the fact that Siri is often, "sorry that she can't take requests right now". And if they are having trouble keeping it online now, to add the tens of millions of iPads. And then the next iPhone HAS to have it, and that's another stress to add to the servers.

Siri is coming to everything, eventually... but maybe not yet.

Gotta go watch that video again.

Bit pissed it's still a mono speaker, but that's just a minor complaint.

Advertising/PR is effective, but as the saying goes, you can't polish a turd. People buy stuff they like.

Umm, I assume you've never worked in marketing for a large and financially successful corporation. Our economy is built on people buying things, like 'em or not. You certainly may only buy things you 'like' but as a pretty savvy innovator, marketer once said "...figuring out things people want before they know they want it..." doesn't mean they need it, they just 'learn' to want it. Creating a desire creates revenue streams.
