Nope. Just like every other iOS device release. It'll have underwhelming specs, aside from the one "revolutionary, unbelievable, legendary" feature that isn't really that new or exciting. And everyone will love it...

Also...

The iPad is getting thicker, and Leon is getting laaaaaaaaarger!

I know you are trolling, but just wondering, what do you want to see? The iPad 2 can hold its own against other Android tablets still with the exception of the Transformer Prime maybe in specs. The software and especially the browser of the Prime is still slow according to the Verge even with 4 cores.

Specs don't matter. I have a feeling Apple haters don't get geekgasms because Apple's products don't come processors with cool names like "Tegra" or "Snapdragon" even though they don't even know how they are better. Would you like Apple do add ports like HDMI or USB just so you can check off boxes on your checklist? I'd say adding iMessage and FaceTime along with all the servers and infrastructure they takes is already a larger feat than shoving a quad core chip into a tablet.

Being a little bit thicker than ipad 2 would be fine as long as it has the rumored high rez screen and still keep the battery life.

Does it matter? He just proved that Apple has done it before.

And seriously, people making a big deal about the iPad 3 being slightly (and that is ever so slightly) thicker that complaining about it need to rethink their lives. Seriously re-think your life and why you even care.

No it doesn't matter. I was just making a comment about what I thought and he proved me wrong. I was then asking for more products that have done this. Also I think you might want to rethink your life if all you do is attack people about what they say when you are hidden behind a computer screen. This is a discussion board and I was here to discuss something. If you want to discuss something I'm all ears but they way your tone is now you really shouldn't be on this site.

Dear MacRumors, Repeat after me:

"I MacRumors solemnly swear that I will never repeat any rumor that comes from any iPhone or iPad case-maker, any unnamed Asian parts supplier or any financial analyst - named or not, ever again."

That photo looks an awful lot like an iPad 1 back shell without the logo cut out yet.

I don't mind thicker as sometimes these things get almost too thin to hold comfortably. I'd hope more that they kept the weight from growing too much. Weight is far more noticeable to me than thickness considering how thin these devices already are.

If true, I would guess it's because of the screen bleeding. Say what you will, but it is an issue and is due to thinness, compression of components, and how the glass is adhered.

If anyone paid attention to Jobs, they would know that the iPad 3 can not be thicker. When Apple released the risky iPad, they took a chance and succeeded. Then they released iPad 2 which further smoked the competition. The point is for better or for worse, Apple sets the rules.

Now would you make the tablet thicker and move the goal posts? Comparing the iPad to the iPhone isn't valid-the iPhone has never been the slimmest phone on the market, and probably never will be. So you can make a compromise in a competitive market of adding a bit of space since you're not the one pushing where technology is completely-just where you want it to go. This compromise is OK.

But furthermore, increasing the size of the iPad sets a bad example. If engineers can enlarge it, how is Apple innovating on design over its peers? The answer is, its not. And allowing one compromise like this without a good reason would allow more, until the product gets tied down in worthless features.

iPad 3 can not be thicker unless the marketplace demands a feature which requires it to be. iPad has no competition yet, therefore such a feature does not exist yet. These rumors are false.

The iPhone 3G is larger then the original iPhone in 2 of 3 dimensions (the 3rd being the same).

Really? I guess I don't know as much about apple as I thought:(. Are there any other cases of this happening?

The first iMacs were way thicker than the TAM ;-)

Apple has proven over and over, how much they value thin devices.

If it ends up being true that it's a bit thicker, that won't bother me at all. I have confidence in Apples engineering. It will be for good reason.

You forgot to use the word 'fanboy' in your diatribe

BTW only one rumor said it was thicker and that was by 3 hundreds of an inch (.7 mm)

or 8 percent thicker than the iPad 2

Flat Back

I don't mind a little thicker to have a better screen but I hope they keep the flat back. A better front facing camera would be good also!

I'd go for a mm or two thicker if it had better sound quality - stereo and more bass. That would definitely be worth it.

Already is stereo, Apple just positioned the speakers in a somewhat retarded way (if one is a big fan of stereo on crummy speakers).

Is this a dock connector port?

Is this a dock connector port?

Since Apple must make all products thinner than the last iteration, I'm personally gonna hold off for iPad 10. It should should be about 0mm thick by then.

Seriously though, a few millimeters won't make too much of a difference... it may not even be noticeable in real life applications. Plus, I doubt people will suddenly flock over to Samsung or another competitor if the iPad 3 ends up being a few millimeters thicker than the old iPad or other tablets.

As long as the iPad 3 outperforms the iPad 2, I think we'll be okay.
