Umm no.

Last time we wasted time listening to some Asian blog with "inside info" Case Logic manufactured tens of thousands of 5" iPhone cases.

I find nothing wrong with it being thicker as long as it means it'll be just as light and comfortable to hold..

I've got a Playbook now, and I love the flat surface, It's 0.9mm thick but easy to hold on to..

You can stack 9 of them next to an iPad? Sweeeet!

not an effing chance the iPad3 will be thicker that the iPad2

:apple:

The original was 13.4mm and the iPad 2 slimmed down to 8.8mm

So even if it goes back up to 10mm thick, it doesn't ***** MATTER for what you get in return. I'm sure Ives is just fine with that for the trade off of a retina display.

Some people say the iPad2 is actually TOO light and needs a tad more weight. I tend to agree.

Really? I guess I don't know as much about apple as I thought:(. Are there any other cases of this happening?

Does it matter? He just proved that Apple has done it before.

And seriously, people making a big deal about the iPad 3 being slightly (and that is ever so slightly) thicker that complaining about it need to rethink their lives. Seriously re-think your life and why you even care.

Why not? The iPhone 3G is thicker than the 2G.

I personally wouldn't care if it got a bit thicker... but in my opinion I just don't think Apple will go for thicker at this point.

Some people say the iPad2 is actually TOO light and needs a tad more weight. I tend to agree.

And that is why Apple does not listen to customers before releasing a product.

A minimal size increase (as size increase doesn't mean huge weight increase) doesn't bother me. If this is true, it's obviously because of the alleged dual-lightbar design to have retina display.

We'll see. I hope it's not as thick as the original iPad. That's a little too much.

Nope. Just like every other iOS device release. It'll have underwhelming specs, aside from the one "revolutionary, unbelievable, legendary" feature that isn't really that new or exciting. And everyone will love it...

Also...

The iPad is getting thicker, and Leon is getting laaaaaaaaarger!

Apparently we aren't watching the same product releases.

I quite liked the Ipad 1 but times have moved on.

Other tablets are about as thin as the Ipad 2 so for that reason thicker would be uncool.

What am I looking at? Pillow? Airbag?

Lol

since when Apple is revising their hardware by making thicker ones...:DThose rumors are sometimes funny

I'm ready to go on record with this: no way.

No way the iPad gets thicker. No way it gets heavier. Not. A. Chance.

The iPad is already heavier than is optimal for one-handed usage. If anything, it must eventually become thinner and lighter.

Rubberize Back of iPad

Dear Apple, please make it option for thin factory rubberization of back of iPad. The metal backs get way scratched if not covered, and the 3rd party covers/shells are way to bulky/ugly. Thanks!

Going thicker

Would be the first time in history of an idevice and the modern mac desktop and the modern laptop line.

This is great news! I hope the iPad2 drops in price so that I may buy one at a discount!! I do not plan on buying an iPad3 unless it comes in 3D or something spectacular.. Siri or retina display is ok but not out worth the extra $$$.

Not going to get thicker. Tech gets smaller which means they can fit more in the case. They don't need to make it thicker.

They do if they want to make a Retina display and add a mini-display port.

And please don't say they can use a dongle from the 30-pin connector because one needs to keep it powered while its connected via mini-display port.

Can anybody EVER remember a time when the next generation of a mac product was thicker than the previous? Perhaps once it was 0.02 inches thicker once, but never significantly.

I don't believe it. The only reason would be increased battery life, which is great on ipads as it is.
