I feel for the 3G folk. I was afraid of crap like this. Hopefully people in other countries with the iPad 3G get better data service. I'm glad I stuck with the Wi-Fi only model.

Just very glad i didn't waste my money on a 3G model. I originally had a 3G 64 gb on pre-order, but on April 5, I crumbled and purchased a 64gb wifi model, and cancelled the 3G.

So glad I did! I have 2 iPhones 1 8gb 3G, and 1 16gb 3GS. My wife also has an 8gb 3G- and all phones have mywi. Needless to say anywhere i go, i have the FULL 3G experience. I don't have any of the problems with AT&T that many other users are reporting. My 3G service is consistently 200kb/s down - and allows me to do anything i throw at it. May be because of my area, not really sure.

Originally another reason I wanted the 3g was the gps chip- WHO CARES? Is what I realized- being that I've got my iPhones with my gps apps. Glad i did not fork over unnecessary money, and everything worked in my favor.

This seems like a real slap in the face to those who waited and purchased the 3g model. Boo @ AT&T!

No problem, dude. I will be picking up the 64GB 3G iPad you didn't want. I'll let you know how it is when I'm not in a range of any WiFi hotspots. ;)

Bell South Mobility aka Cingular aka At&t is Hella Super Duper lame. :p

Keep supporting the beast and they will continue to Rob you.

Using cell towers for locating is not called A-GPS.

A-GPS is GPS.

Not your fault for mixing them up... Apple's idiotic original advertising did.

Exactly the assisted means the cellular network assists the chip with immediately downloading the satelite almanac (and other things), which does wonders for time to first fix etc.

ATT won't take a PO Box for a billing address. They will on the iphone but no go on iPad. Had to change my billing address of 27 years.... now that's a pisser.:eek::eek:

I don't have a P.O. Box but I do have a 'private mail box' which has a box number at the end of the street address (e.g., 1234 Main Street #123). The AT&T authentication routine wouldn't recognize the address - kept coming back with the street address and no mail box number. Finally I just said it was correct figuring I could someone later to get the address right. However, on the confirmation screen there was my street address AND mail box number (evidently derived from my credit card info).

My 3G on the iPad pretty much performs the same as the 3G on my iPhone 3GS. Because of that I can expect a huge number of customers to not be happy. But did you really think the nations fastest 3G network who does not allow tethering with your iPhone to all of the sudden overnight be this miraculous network with 7.2Mbps speeds?

Not likely.....with or without snake oil spread over them! Sorry folks!

I bought the 3G iPad with very low expectations and have not been disappointed. I basically just want the ability to get email, do lite surfing, etc. when I'm out and about. The iPad 3G will fill this need. Nothing more, nothing less until those folks get the nations fastest 3G network repaired like it should be!

It is interesting to note though, that here in Chicago, I've seen the fastest speeds in the past month that I have seen prior. And I'm checking all the time...at home, at work and at points in between. I have actually been up over 3Mbps recently and had never seen that before. So at least here in Chi-town it does seem to be better lately.

Wow!!! Are people really this ignorant??? 3G is NOT Wi-Fi speeds! The reason that the quality of video is less is because the download speeds aren't fast enough and so the video sites change the quality to compensate. It has nothing to do with conspiracies or AT&T throttling 3G. If you want Wi-Fi speeds over a cell network, then you best be going with Sprint.

The ABC app will likely be updated to allow for use over 3G. Heck, Netflix works over 3G, at full quality (when bandwidth permits).

TEG
Interesting to note that many of the complainers are not 3G owners....netflix works fine. As this poster says it's the abc program that needs to be updated and probably will be, guardian, well I can live without that. Everything else seems to work great, I love my 3G and sold my wifi for what I paid for it!

Hahahha:)

You are either ignorant or uninformed, and I will assume it's the latter.

I tether my 3GS's connection to my wifi iPad - and can do anything I'd like and everything works just fine. All netflix, abc, and YouTube apps work perfectly at the highest quality with no hiccups, blips, or pauses. Where I currently reside, the only Internet connection I can get is either dial up or AT&T/Verizon 3G.

Because of this i have 3 iPhones, one i use basically as a modem tethering my Internet for my home network. My everyday internet is fine. I say all this to prove the point that 3G is for sure capable of supporting this- and most any type of activity.

For you to say that it has nothing to do with AT&T's greed is [in my opinion] ridiculous. Maybe certain areas are not ready for this type of bandwidth, but that's AT&T's issue, not the customers that thought they bought an "unlimited" 3G experience.

More power to you, I hope you enjoy your new iPad soon :)

LOL, you're saying a tethered 3GS over 3G plays your videos on your ipad full quality, I call BS!!!!

Here's a test you should probably check out.

BTW Einstein, ignorant and uninformed mean the same thing.

Interesting tests there. Yes i am telling you videos are capable of full quality on 3G. A 3 megabit connection on average has no trouble with that, and i can say that I have had no problems whatsoever with the 3G.

I'm in northern ny in a densely populated area, which may have something to do with my positive experience, but either way, it's not the 3G technology that is to blame, as you claim.

I've been using 3G on my iPad all day and I'm pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going go be a lot slower. Pages load pretty fast.

Regarding ABC, they obviously just have to update their app so it suits the wireless network. AT&T is not limiting streaming video over 3G... The videos in the yahoo app play perfectly fine.

I'm really glad I waited for 3G. It'll be nice to use on the road, vacation, and just anywhere there isn't wifi.

Maybe some should have read the Terms of Service agreement??????

Maybe. But regardless of what the TOS says, tethered 3G provides a better, cheaper experience :)

I hope everybody is enjoying their new iPads :). Good night from NY.

Don't cry for me, Argentina!

This ****er is awesome. When I will be outside of a wifi range I really doubt I need to stream ABC or download anything big. Basically I'll be surfing and using other essential features like e-mail and such. And I can surely do all that with the 250MB plan. I can watch my own videos and movies without streaming.

I am happy as a clam right now! :)

Can we please not turn this is to a battle of the iPad versions. Everyone should be happy for one another REGARDLESS of their choice. Coming on here and saying "I am SO glad I did not buy the 3G!" is not very nice at all really. All you are trying to do is make people feel bad about their choice. We all have iPads, thats a good thing, who cares if someone got a different version.
