Ordered mine within 2 hours of the event ending (would have been sooner except the had those pesky server problems) and got a confirmation. Changed from processing to preparing for shipment on Thursday evening. Been there since.

I received a phone call today from FedEx with a tracking number that requires a signature for delivery Tuesday:
I reviewed tracking number online and package org is Middletown,pa
No shipper listed

I did order the new iPad. Is this it?
I know of people that received the ipad2 early with a preorder

Hell, I live in Harrisburg which is about a 10 minute drive to get to Middletown... My iPad is just sitting there too... so close yet so far away...

Not in the US, you don't, because there was no preorder for iPad 2. You must be thinking of one or the other of the iPhones, which some people did receive a day earlier.

Look at your apple store order... it should have your tracking number listed.

I called FedEx today, and before I could even finish my question the rep asked me if I am calling about The new iPad, i said yes, he said sorry it is not available for an early pickup.

I have an idea. Let's form a militia. If a hundred or more of us storm Middletown PA, they'll have to give over the iPads ;)

"Sir, there are people here asking about picking up their iPad early."

"We can't do it. How many are out there?"

"Uh... all of them, I think."

LOL! Sounds more fun than lining up at Apple stores!

"That sounds like a Zombie Apocalypse! Start blown' their darn heads off!"

err.... um... oops. Lesson: never trust a Fex Ex worker who is an overeager fan of The Walking Dead.

I had the same situation as you did. Showed "preparing for shipment" from Wednesday, until this morning. Just got my "shipped" notification a couple of yours ago. What frustrates me right now, is that it is sitting in Onatario, Ca - which is a mere 30 minute drive from my house! I SO want to drive over there and just grab it myself!!

Terminator.

All, To deliver early means they must scan the item. That leaves a trail to the culprit. No one is going to risk their job so you can get an ipad early.

Yeah mine is showing shipped too now. Holding about an hour away from where I live. :)

Mine has been sitting in Louisville KY for 3+ days now. They better get it moving again to have it here in Fort Worth by Friday! My ATV3 is supposed to show Friday via overnight delivery. Looking forward to Friday, that's for sure!

Both iPads are now shown as shipped (with separate tracking numbers) as of yesterday. They aren't showing up on FEDEX yet, but I'm glad to have confirmation of shipment.

Just got the shipping confirmation email, and the fed ex tracking is already up and running... im a happy camper :D

Mine arrived at the Louisville, KY UPS site Sunday morning at 11:46am. No movement....*crickets*

My guess is they are leaving the ipads at major distribution centers until Wednesday. On Thursday morning they will be routed to whatever local center they are supposed to be at. Then on Friday, they deliver. So i'm guessing I won't see any movement on the UPS tracking for another 36 hours or so...

Finally I can join in this thread!

Got my shipping notice at 3:53pm EST for White 16GB Wifi only.

I had placed my order at 8:55pm Mar 8th 2012. It turned to 'Preparing for shipment' 3 hours later the same evening. And finally now it is shipping from MIDDLETOWN, PA to NC.

Mine is waiting to be delivered in Middleton, PA. I live in NYC.

Also, I just got my smart covers today. Looking good so far. :D

So who wants to join me on a roadtrip to the FedEx in Middletown, PA? I'm ready to camp out there until they hand over my iPad.

Mine has been in the shipped status for quite a while now. Something tells me it's just around the corner from me waiting. Im still waiting to be billed though.

If you lived next door to the Fed-Ex facility you would not get it until the 16th. Even if your neighbor or a close reletive worked in that facility you would not receive it until the 16th.

not true. very few people have gotten theirs early. not likely that you will get yours early. but you cant say that for sure.. youre also the same guy who said that its not uncommon for the first products to have deffects or bugs in them since they are the inital supply and have been sitting in the warehouse. on all of apples launches, that has never been an issue.

What I'm honestly not grasping is why Apple cares if they arrive a few days early. Why not make the customer shelling out $500+ dollars happier? It's not like they are getting their hands on a prototype, the thing has been announced and paid for.

Hmmm, a day before St. Patrick's. I wonder if I followed a rainbow to the end if I would find this magical pot o' gold that looks a lot like an unmarked warehouse in Middletown, PA. :D

If you got your iPad 3 days early, and you knew millions of people wanted to buy one, you may be inclined to sell it for a hefty profit before launch day. Apple knows this and doesn't want you to do that!
