Apple puts restrictions on when retailers like Best Buy can sell it so Apple has to play by the same rules. They need to maintain a level playing field with their retailers.

I got my email 3/9/12 at 6:40 am. But mine is not showing up as anything yet, Fedex still says my numbers are not valid. Is anyone else's like this still? Is anyones number a little different from what I consider normal Fedex numbers? Mine begin with 5269534.....

Has anyone called FedEx and asked if you do a Hold at FedEx location if they will let you pick it up earlier than the 16th?
Mine was picked up in Nashville TN on March 9th and says future delivery requested. Looks like they are going to hold these bad boys till Friday for delivery.
Mine shipped via FedEx. Has the "future delivery requested" status, though. I was actually in Middletown yesterday at the airport. wish I could have had some visitation with it.
1) You have to call Apple to ask FedEx to "hold" prior to first delivery attempt. After first attempt you can call FedEx and do it yourself.
2) You can't p/u before scheduled delivery date. In all likelihood the package won't even be removed from the trailer until the evening before scheduled delivery. There is literally no easy way for them to get to a package still in the trailer and they will not waste time hunting down a package not due for delivery.
You don't have to wait until after the first delivery attempt. I won't be home on friday until 4:00, so I have mine set to be delivered to my FedEx Office store. You can do so on the FedEx tracking page for your package. I'm so glad they let you do this because I'm never home during the day and I'm afraid if I pre sign for it, someone will steal it. Plus my actual FedEx "hub" s is about an hour away, compared to the FedEx Office Store, which is right down the block.
Praying for an early delivery, I've seen that FEDex will hold their packages and UPS usually will not. It still says March 16th delivery but I'm going to need them to deliver early..Ga is not 5 business days away.

I'm hoping the statement that FedEx will hold shipments and UPS will deliver hold true. Mine has also been in Louisville at a UPS facility since yesterday. I could have ran there yesterday to get it and be typing a message on it instead, haha. I am hoping for a day early delivery. I was hoping to take it on a trip...that we leave for Friday morning before UPS delivers

Just call UPS tell them your have a flight to catch and it a gift for someone and to deliver it right away in the morning, or if you can pick it up on the Friday from there depot.
Both of mine have been sitting in Nashville for days.
Strangely the AppleTV ordered at the same time is still processing.
I think it doesn't matter when it begins to move since they will probably just hold them until the 16th. But I wouldn't complain if it came early.
