I ordered my 16gig wifi on the 7th and it just shipped. I live it Los Angeles and it says it shipped from Ontario, CA for future delivery. Will be delivered by 3pm on the 16th.

If you lived next door to the Fed-Ex facility you would not get it until the 16th. Even if your neighbor or a close reletive worked in that facility you would not receive it until the 16th.

Close relative... not so much. Friend of mine is married to a FedEx sorter, and they've always managed to eek theirs out of the pile before delivery day. They're just instructed to keep their mouth shut about it and never post any pictures or brag. Had their 4S's a whole 72 hours early. And despite my kind and friendly begging -- they wouldn't help me out.

I ordered mine on the 7th and it is now in Nashville, TN. Man, next Friday is going to be awesome!!!!

Mine got shipped from the same area I live in. It's so close I can ride a bike to pickup the iPad. Shipped FedEx with an ETA of the 16th. Heck I might get it Monday. Would love to get it tomorrow if FedEx would release it to me. :D

This happens with every single release and people always make a huge deal about their item being shipped a week ahead of release date but guess what? UPS and FedEx are holding on to those bad boys till the 16th. Everyone who ordered and was promised delivery on the 16th will get it no sooner than the 16th.

This is not always the case. A lot of people (myself included) received the iPhone 4 one to two days before the official launch day.

Mine is in Louisville, KY now...woohoo!

I preordered within 2 hours of the iPad announcement event and mine is still in Preparing for Shipment (moved to that status yesterday afternoon). I'm not worried though, I know it'll get here on the 16th. If I see a tracking # on Monday, that'd be nice.

My 16GB Black Wifi iPad, just changed to preparing for shipment. Im in Canada and ordered around 4pm EST March 7th.

Woo! Both of mine are on their way. The engraved 16gb is traveling through China and the 32gb is getting ready to be sent out from PA while I am in Ohio.

Cannot wait! Both me and my mom's first Ipad!

Just got my shipping notice! Looks like it was picked up in Middletown, PA!

Delivery says the 16th, so not really expecting it early, but one can hope...

Ditto! Mine says "Future Delivery Requested" on the bottom of the Fedex tracking page so it looks like I will be getting it on the 16th.

Ordered 32 GB black wifi on launch day.

Just got shipping confirmation from Pennsylvania en route to Queens, NY. :)

Both of my iPads have shipped and are on the way. Currently in Nashville.

The AppleTV is still processing.

Everything was ordered on March 7th early in the afternoon.

Just got my shipping notice. 32gb white AT&T, ordered on the 7th around 6pm. When I ordered my 4s I didn't get a shipping notice until 2 days before it was delivered, but it made it on time!

mcgillmaine, by chance is your shipping to a business?

Was thinking as my two are via fed ex to a business that maybe Apple uses fed ex for business delv and UPS for res?

thanks

trido
I got my email today. Item has shipped! It's through FedEx and the tracking number has the estimated delivery 3/16 by 3:00pm. I also see that it was picked up in Middletown PA with details "Future delivery requested".

I'm guessing apple has told FedEx to hold it at there processing center/hub till the 16th.

I live in NC

I ordered over the phone on the day of the announcement. It still says "processing." Should I be worried?

No.

Wrong. Mine is going to a residence and it is via FedEx.

If people who claim to almost worship Apple had been paying even the slightest bit of attention, they would have noticed the reports several weeks ago, which even included pictures, of cargo airplanes in China being loaded with what was reported as the new iPad. Apple was shipping so many new iPads, that they monopolized all the cargo planes from China to the point that other companies couldn't ship anything.

It's clear now, they were shipped to major FedEx hubs where they sat until the 7th. When the orders came in, they were shipped to your local FedEx warehouse where they will again sit until Friday, the 16th.

Mine was shipped today, via FedEx to a residential address. It is in PA now and seems to have a hold on it till the 16th.

What I'm honestly not grasping is why Apple cares if they arrive a few days early. Why not make the customer shelling out $500+ dollars happier? It's not like they are getting their hands on a prototype, the thing has been announced and paid for.

Hmmm, a day before St. Patrick's. I wonder if I followed a rainbow to the end if I would find this magical pot o' gold that looks a lot like an unmarked warehouse in Middletown, PA. :D

It seems like Apple has enough stock to start putting iPads in the hands of preorderers by Monday. Would be great if they just let FedEx/UPS deliver them.
