Do we know for a FACT that Apple will be releasing an Ipad 5 this year?

They keep their cards so close to the vest.

Nope, but it's likely.

Then again, we do live in a quantum world... for all we know they could have released the iPad 5 in every possible way at every possible moment of time already

Awaiting the ipad 5 very impatienctly.

I really want a 128gb one, but no way will I fork over 800+tax, plus accessories for one. (Comes out to 900-950)

Now if they can amek it 700+tax, then very possibly, but Im sticking with 16.

This way if they also come out with a retina Mini, I can buy both for only 30dollars more?

Apparently someone saw an iPad 5 case poking out of their vest so definitely later this year for an iPad 5. It will probably coincide with the release of iOS 7.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my IPad, IPad2, and Ipad3. I can't wait for the IPad5!!. Even though each Ipad has faster speeds, better graphics, and improved resolution, I'm sure the new IPad will more than meet my needs. With Apple, you never complain about what you have.

except when apple deliberately releases an inferior display on its products for cost cutting and then charges much more than android tabs having better displays

Just stop what exactly?

If you're THAT bothered with someone else opinion, then put a blanket on your monitor.

I think he's bothered by the fact that you don't realize how common this is in the world of technology. And yes, the iPad 6 will be released in 2014. By comparison, Samsung alone has released 18 tablets (if you include nexus 10) since 2011. Asus has released 23 tablets in same period of time (including the Nexus 7 tablets).

That's how the market is with anyone. It doesn't wait for anyone. You should have no reason to complain because you still have a great product. You buy a 2013 car now, and then they release a 2014 version then you can't really complain.

Another 1st gen 16GB Wifi here in desperate need of an upgrade. Between all the crashing it keeps doing and now the battery issues, I'm not sure if I can hold off upgrading much longer! How long do we have to wait? October?

I thought they would come out in September. :(I sold my iPad a little too soon now I have to wait few months lol:-(

I thought August, in time for school to start. I hear there is going to be an announcement on Sept. 6th, but that is only phones and October is going to be everything else? IDK, I'm so confused.

Me to. Only have a note 2 right now. When school starts I'll be carrying around the laptop for the first few weeks then :(

I really hope it is announced in September. I know October is very likely, but I really hope it will be sooner then later!

Your current iPad will continue to function and everything you do now will still be supported even when the newer better model is released. I'm on an iPad 3 and its still as fast as it was when I bought it. Don't sweat the upgrades and enjoy what you have until you decide it's time for an upgrade. iOS 7 is not mandatory. Enjoy your 4. :)

If you knew that cycle, why are you so surprised that iPad 5 will be out in 2013 - late 2013 too it has to be said? If you knew that cycle, why didn't you wait? If you know that cycle, do you also know the cycle for other firms? Do you also know the level of support offered by other firms for older models? Next to nothing.

This is a post I made in a different thread:

I'm finding myself in a bit of a pickle here. I currently have an iPad 2 that I use for work. I'm a teacher, and my school is moving to a 1:1 iPad program for our 3 oldest grades. I've agreed to sell my iPad to the school for $200, and I will put that money towards a new iPad for myself. My conundrum lies in the anticipated release date of the iPad 5. Given the expected features, I would really prefer to get the 5. However, the news that the next iPhone version is expected to be introduced in mid-September makes me wonder if they are going to wait until October to even announce the 5, and I'm not sure I can go that long with no iPad at all (obviously I will need to get my current iPad to the school by the first week of September when the students return).

Is it even remotely possible that Apple has the iPad 5 available for sale by early October?

Obviously, I'd prefer a September launch as well. Just have to see, I guess.

If that Sep 10 event is anything to go by, probably looking at Oct/Nov for iPads. Wish iPads were first, not interested in upgrading my contract free, unlocked iPhone 5 in the slightest until the screen gets bigger.

I've currently got a Mini and an iPad 3. When the next lot are out, I'm selling both and going one iPad only - not for monetary reasons, more for simplicities sake.

Still vacillating to some degree over what to get though. I like the idea of a retina mini (whenever it arrives), but it'll almost inevitably be a slower CPU/GPU and less ram than the full fat.

I'm seriously considering getting an iPad 5 this time around, I want the fastest cpu/gpu/most ram combo, and I fear the next Mini will essentially be a shrunken iPad 3 in spec terms. Fine in the short term but my iPad 3, although not nearly the obsolete (some people really need a dictionary) p.o.s some people think it is, is beginning to creak a little, especially where more graphically intensive games are concerned. I've been very happy with it, but given neither of my last two iPad purchases (mini and 3) have been bleeding edge in spec terms, I'm drawn towards the biggest and fastest this time around.

I'd certainly miss the portability of my Mini - it's truly a tremendous device to take on the road - but I do find the bigger screen far more enjoyable to use all around, not just because of the better res. Maybe I'll keep my old Mini around purely for those occasions where taking the full fat with me is an impossibility, although I would like the simplicity of one iPad to keep updated/game on etc. Hmm, first world problems, tsk.

It's as close to a fact as we can get without actual confirmation from Apple.

1. Apple has always released at least one iPad a year.
2. If Apple doesn't release an iPad 5 this fall, they won't have a "new" tablet to compete with for the holiday shopping season. So it will be a big disaster to their profit if they don't release an iPad 5 this fall, ergo, they WILL release an iPad 5.
3. We are getting part leaks purporting to be from iPad 5. In the past, such part leaks indicated that the product is in production.

I know what you mean about the crashes, but your post is the first I've heard about battery issues with the 1. What's happening?

At this point, the eatliest 1s are more than 3 1/2 years old, so I wouldn't be surprised if some units have batteries that are no longer holding their charges.

I've got 135 cycles on my launch iPad 3 so I imagine people with iPad 1’s are looking at 300+. Therefore in a pretty degraded state. Saying that my old MacBook Pro had 500+ cycles and still managed 93% health, and my launch iPhone 5 still manages 1380 mah out of the possible 1430 (or whatever it is) after 272 cycles.

Thought that just occurred to me: if Apple launches both the 5S and the 5C (or whatever they wind up calling it) in an effort to convert fully to the Lightning connectors, would they look to do the same with iPads? Intro the 5 so they are only selling that and the 4, both with Lightning?

I got mine in June 2010, and I'm shocked that it still holds a charge like it's new. In fact, that quality is one reason that I'm considering getting a 5 rather than whatever replaces the Nexus 10.

How can I check the number of battery cycles?

Mine are jailbroke, using iBatteryInfo (free). Dunno if it's even possible with stock, maybe an app off the store does it?
