If they really sacrificed the rotation switch just for unnecessary thinness, I think Apple really lost it.

Shame it didn't follow the iPhone 6/6+ design and have curved glass on the edges. Guess that will be next year then.

So I'm going to need to buy all new cases just for .5mm less thickness?

Seems pretty ridiculous. Just give us a slightly bigger battery.

errr.... why do you need a new iPad to begin with? Seems a bit silly to complain about having to buy new cases when that shouldn't be an issue if you *really* need to buy a new iPad (as it's assumed that accessories are warranted when purchasing a new device)

no bigger, no care. I'll rock this iPad 3 until it quits. Currently I have 15.5 hr use and a half a month (15 days) of standby with 26% charge left.

Apple, take note: I'm talking about my iPad 3 and what one aspect am I referencing about it that is good right now? That's right, the battery life!!

FFS, this obsession with thinness needs to stop.

I guess not. No one has complained iPhone 6 was too thin. All they said was it's very thin and love it.
I like it thin and light. I wish it's lighter. Current battery in iPad Air is just fine, no complaint.

I gotta be honest....I see no reason to upgrade from Air 1. Tocuh ID is sweet on my iP6. but I am OK hitting 4 digits. I have not one game other than Temple Run type stuff, so processor is nothing.

I'm still confused about the mute switch rumors. If the device is thick enough for the headphone jack why would the mute switch need to go?

Mute button may be moved to control center. I use the button for locking rotation more. I hope they bring both into Control Center

Nah, I like the 9" screen. The Air needs to be lighter.
I like the screen too, but I realise that it's a battle between making a device lighter while improving its internals and still keeping/enhancing the battery life. Personally, I'd rather they kept the existing thinness while having a better battery and higher capacity.

Meh, call me when Apple announces an iPad Pro. Until then, it's just more of the same.

"Can't innovate anymore" indeed.

Yet increased screen size means they can?!

Making something thinner - making the current internals smaller/more efficient requires innovative thinking. However 'thinner' is a yawn to most people.

cuz it needs a bigger battery? just be a man and go naked.

There will be a 16GB iPad because there are people that will buy it. Just because you want something different doesn't mean Apple shouldn't offer what you don't want.

Yeah they should just go to 4GB on the base model since people would buy it.

Only increase specs after people stop buying a product. Sounds like a winning strategy to me!

i hope your passwords are more than 4 digits.

Stop this "thinness" obsession. It's not always better.

miniaturization IS everything.

Surprised nobody is wanting a display that is laminated to the glass like with the iPhone. Would hopefully get rid of that nasty hollow sound when you tap it.

That is no. 1 on my wishlist.

7mm thick eh? Just keeps getting thinner and thinner with Apple. They keep looking in the mirror and thinking, am I too fat? :D

Make it 8mm and give me a bigger battery please.

Yes because adding 'Pro' to a product is innovation.

Having said that, the iPhone 6 is a big step back; hoping no protruding lens on this iPad model.

I really hope they didn't get rid of the mute switch, it's a nice feature of iPad.

Yes, sure, someone will always buy entry level devices.. But with the cost of storage they currently average, it is an insignificant move for them (financially) when it could really help them compete as a "value add".

All I'm saying is that they need the corporate market, and the extra $100 premium when going to "acceptable" storage of 32GB, makes a huge difference when buying 5-10 iPads for a small business sales team.. I think it would greatly benefit their positioning in this segment.

Throw in, 2gb RAM and we got a deal. give me a Verizon 32gb in Space Grey. The iPad Air 1 iCal app and Safari crashes WAY too much.
Step it up :apple::mad:

What would you consider to be innovative?

A hybrid capacitive touch/stylus digitizer would be very compelling to me. For all it's faults, the Wacom pressure sensitive stylus on the old tabletpcs were fantastic for taking notes and drawing. I've heard it's still pretty good on the MS Surface tablets too. I enjoy mashing glyphs for many things in iOS, but on a 10.4 high PPI screen, I really want to be able to draw with high precision on it, with pressure sensitivity and eraser nub.
