That's exactly what I'm saying. When you test it for 30secs in the store you certainly feel it, but I own the Air 2 and I can tell you that after using it for a normal amount of time, say 20-30mins, you walk away from the session with your hands tingling. That's something a quick test just doesn't tell you.

And of course there's a lot of people using the speakers. I don't even own earphones (the ones that came with it stay in the box).

Okay, I gotta admit. If I use it with speakers for a long period of time it might get uncomfortable with tingling sensation in my hand. But then again I use earphones where I commonly use my iPad.

Maybe you could put some dampening materials then cover it with a case to weaken the vibration? All the while waiting for the issue to reach Apple's ears.

And that's really what the thread comes down to - everybody uses these things completely differently. There are sometimes no right answers for everyone, just for your own scenario. I personally not only use speakers 100% of the time but also don't use a stand, so I'm always holding it.

The best solution for me is to take it back and use my Air 1. If Apple comes out with some sort of solution I'd repurchase in a second. In the meantime, the Air 1 is a fine device...

The misunderstanding here might arise from the fact that people is thinking this vibration issue only happens in Air 2. It does not. It happens with Air 1 too. It happens to my iPhone too when I crank up the volume. I think it is more correct to say that the issue is vibration is more noticeable in Air 2 due to the thinness of the chassis. In the long term, this indeed will cause inconvenience to hand.

Good thing that you still can return the iPad. Hope you enjoy using the Air 1.

Loooooool. #suckstobeyou sorry to hear that man. Sure you want to lose a core, a gb of ram, 100mhz, Touch ID, weight savings? All over a little vibration? Come on brah, you're trolling right?

I am not trying to pick a side here but maybe you could try to stand in his shoes. Could you live with inconvenient thing beside you every single day? The vibration is not a big issue to me or to you maybe but for somebody else it might.

Are you trolling, brah?

Weight savings? All 32g? 100 MHz?

He can just save the money now and buy next year's model, which will have even better features and maybe not vibrate while playing sound. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

Fair point brah. I should be more sensitive but you know, it's the Internet and not everything is as it seems at face value.

What else is there in life that pisses us off, the computer you work on, the car you drive, the house you live in, and so on. I just struggle to buy into these posts as having much substance behind them.

Looooool. I like you man. Reps for you.

The sum of the parts are greater than the whole, it's the iPad air 2!

If he "never" uses earphones and "never" uses a stand for it, well the trade off is worth it for them.

Not everyone is upgrading, some even with ipads from many years ago.

Just got my Air 2 going from Air 1. I was afraid of how bad the sound would be because of the vibration. However, it doesn't affect the sound at all. It's just that you feel it. Feels like really powerful speakers, as if you have your stereo on loud and you feel the speaker. At least that's how it is on mine. Of what I was reading I was thinking it vibrates the actual sound, like something loose inside vibrating but on the contrary. It just feels like an actual speaker.

I've upgraded from the iPad 4 to the air 2. This tablet is apples greatest achievement to date. That's why I'm struggling to relate to these issues when people say they want to go back to last years model.

Absolutely agree. It's very noticeable compared to my Air 1. However, sound quality of voices seems a little better on my Air 1. Wil probably still keep the new one as I don't listen to the internal speakers that much. Still a bit irritating all the same.

Just got back from the Apple store and tried out an Air 2. I can tell you the vibrating issue is REAL. I played a song on full volume and the lowest possible volume and the whole lower part of the tablet vibrates to the point of it being a real noticeable issue. Wow was it shocking, and wow was it a deal breaker.

I'll stick with my 4.

I just return back from bestbuy to test out this issue, and its was there. Even at 40% you could feel it. Right next to Air2 was last yr Air and only at max volume could you feel it but it was very minor. How could people accept this? Going to hold on to my ipad4.

This is one of the most idiotic posts I've read in quite some time.

No brah, I ain't trollin' Lolzzz #ihatehashtags

(Did I do that right?)

After selling my Air 1 for $300, I'd have to put in $340 to get the Air 2. I made the decision that it wasn't worth that cost to me because of the vibration issue. The iPad Air 3 might be. Might not be, too. Guess I'll have to make that judgement then. Isn't that ok?

The vibration is real. I can't believe Apple didn't catch this in its testing. It's really annoying and a glass that should not exist especially on a $500 product. It's amazing how people defend apple always even when they clearly screw up.

Mine vibrates noticeably even at low volume. Not just in music but also on spoken words, too like audio books or YouTube instruction videos. I'll live with it for two weeks to see if I get used to it, but right now it's pretty annoying and distracting. We'll see.

I seriously doubt Apple didn't catch this. They just chose to ship it anyway. As evidenced by bendgate, Ive is interested only in making their products thinner regardless of what side effects it causes. Par for the course nowadays.

I usually use my iPad with a Bluetooth that streams all audio so I don't mind it. Maybe it's a natural drawback from the thinness? Dell is coming out with a tablet that is slightly thinner so it'll be interesting to see if it has the same issue.

sigh thought this was fixed on the Air ...

Yeah, this was something I noticed with the Airs last year and with this Air I picked up a couple of days ago. Certain movies sound like crap on low volume and get worse as you increase the volume.

As folks have been saying, it seems like a design issue more than anything else. Unfortunate to hear this is more prominent on the new ones.

So you have sold the air 1 and purchased the 2? It's now less than 12 months till the iPad air 3 is released. Nothing in life is perfect but you're going to get less for your air 1 in 12 months. Swings and roundabouts. Of course it's ok for you to do what you want, I just don't want to see you losing money over what's not a show stopper by any means.

Well sure, but by the same logic should I sell my car now to buy a new one, even though I don't need a new one, just because the one I'm driving now will go down in value next year?

Glad to see its NOT just me. Thats a very irritating problem ###

And thin is okay. But Holding and using iPad Air 2 is horrible. Give me back some bessels and thickness. And some real battery life

Sounds like you haven't purchased an air 2. So it's all a non issue? iPads are cheap compared to cars, cars have ongoing maintenance and registration costs.

I just wanted to make the point that if you have an air 2 (which I think you don't now) you could just deal with the speaker issue until the 3 comes out.
