The iPad Pro now has a Keyboard with a trackpad.
Apple is switching to ARM.
The devkit is powered by an A12Z from the iPad Pro 2020.

How can you be so sure that it wont come to the ipad pros?
(7) mac os doesn’t support touch; (8) there is no customer demand for such a thing; (9) nothing, in The entire history of apple, suggests to anyone who has been paying even a modicum of attention to their business methods that they would do such a thing

RIP anyone that bought the 2020 iPad Pro. That version should have been released only as a dev kit for AR cameras, almost no benefit over the 2018.
Having upgraded from an iPad Air 2 to a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9", I'm not remotely fussed about a new model coming out soon, and I'm sure most people who did buy the 2020 device will have the same sentiment.

For anyone citing the iPad 3 then 4 - the 3 was a gimped product, subsequently 'fixed' by the 4. This is not the case with the 2020 iPad, it's an absolutely superb device.

No way a new ipad pro will come they just released a 2020 one
That’s what I said in ~2011 when apple released the iPad 3 in March and then 7 months later released the iPad 4.

I was a poor college student and was stuck with what was essentially an iPad 2 with a Retina display that it couldn’t power

OK. I was trying to argue and take you seriously.
But oh well..
There is absolutely no demand... yeah sure.
The universities are full with Microsoft Surfaces because you can take notes and even do programming and run any major application on these devices.
The iPad "Pro" hits a wall very very fast compared to such devices.

A lot of the points you made earlier are also not valid. Lets not start with "Apple said so". Yeah Apple made jokes that macOS will clearly be different from iOS. But what Apple "says" is not always what they "do".
Big Sur looks like iOS now. And my guess is this wont stop there. Anyone who can connect the dots will see that we will eventually get there.
All we can hope is that they will do it right.

What about the memory by the way? Wasnt Apple selling 4GB RAM Macbooks in the last couple of years.

i was thinking the same thing....but after i use big sure on the dev kit...im not so sure anymore
Big Sur new UI is meant and it will be easy to use even with your finger...but lets keep this aside...
Lets look what can you do if you buy the magic ipad keyboard with trackpad...when you attach your ipad pro on it to switch to macOS...and use the trackpad and keys...you are not meant to use touch...touch will remain secondary thing, if apple allows it...
Now...to be able to run macOS under ipad pro...Apple needs to have at least 8 gb RAM on it....the RAM is the only issue here...the A12Z is already powerful for macOS also

Fine. But the ipad still doesn’t have enough RAM.

Not to mention, if Apple wants to make a portable touch mac, they will. It will not be an ipad.

People who are comparing the (early) 2020 iPad Pro to the iPad 3 are missing the point of what was so bad about the iPad 3 which was it was woefully under powered for the screen resolution, so much so that the iPad 2 was better long term.

Here at least Apple upgraded the Pro if ever so slightly, but it was an improvement over the previous model with more RAM, more storage, better camera and slightly better GPU. It would have been worse if they kept selling the 2018 model and people bought that instead.

Having the Pro come out now makes a lot of sense as it then allows for the standard iPad to have the A12 and the Air to have the A14 while the Pro has the A14X.

The new iPad Air would make for a great cheaper iPad Pro like device and would be something I'd consider picking up, though the rumored price increase seems to defeat that somewhat if true.

Oh well.... why they make iPad Air an iPad Pro with nearly identical screen sizes? That doesn’t seem right.

Judging by the illustration in the main article, the only thing sets iPad Air and iPad Pro 11” apart would be Face ID and under screen Touch ID, maybe minus Apple Pencil 2nd gen support.

I think iPad Air would not look like those rumours suggests, even if iPad Air has A14 instead of A14X.

10. Big Sur is in beta already, if it was coming to the iPad it would also be in beta. A future version that melds the OS's, perhaps, but not Big Sur. Next year, seems unlikely too, but one never knows.

11. In my opinion, the UI elements to combine the touchscreen vs mouse/trackpad interface in an interface that is workable are not close enough yet. Yet.

just here to chime in again and say the "air" moniker no longer makes any sense and should be retired
I agree but it shouldn’t be retired. I think this rumored device should be called iPad and the current iPad Air but with 32 GB of Storage should replace the iPad (7th generation) as the entry level devise

1. Who are these leakers? Is there any evidence at all they can be trusted?

2. Just give me an 11.x" with mini-LED. Hopefully it's a Pro with quad speakers and 5G this year. If the Air went Pro-like but without mini-LED, I still wouldn't be very interested unless it was really inexpensive (which it won't be).

I’ll be buying one of the new pro 12.9’s as an upgrade to my 2nd gen pro 12.9, which will then be passed to my wife, who will then give her 1st gen 9.7” pro to our son...and so on. But, to be honest, my 2nd gen 12.9“ pro is working perfectly. If it weren’t for obsolete tech at the bottom of the stack, we’d likely just keep and use what we have.

Mentions of the iPad 3 bring back memories.

"Introducing the iPad 2 w/Retina display, umm we mean iPad 3!"

Yeah right...
The Macbook Air with 4GB RAM was a lie... yeaah suuuure. uhu
anyways I am not arguing with you anymore

to everyone else who wants to join the discussion:
Even if the the RAM would be considered "critical" on the iPad. I dont think its quite comparable. The iPads have very very fast Storage. Which by the way is a double edged sword of course. Because of that , Apple never saw the urge to bump up the RAM on iDevices frequently and extensively.
If you take a look at the Android phones which come from slower UFS (and even used to have SD cards) you can see that they always required a lot of RAM. 12GB RAM in a OnePlus 8 Pro... (to be fair the latest version of UFS is fast, but still.. you get the trend).
Anyways. lol. I was trying to say that Apple could potentially pull off some "Magic" with good App hibernation, given their crazy fast storage. I remember reading that Apple uses nvme protocol for the iPhone 6s NAND. One should not underestimate whats possible on the iPhones/iPads.
