Felt a bit of lag while it was restoring, are you sure it wasn't that? Now that everything is installed it is pretty smooth. Typing this while playing video audio in the background, no issues.

I notice it as we'll whenever I close an app or even try to type something. I didn't restore from backup I set up as new

Last weekend the guy who runs the genius bar told me that he has fixed lag issues (especially with keyboards) on many iPads and iPhones by going to Settings > General > Reset All Settings.

It sucks because you have to enter your settings in again, but I guess something gets stuck in the OS and that clears it up. Probably just buggy iOS 7 code. Note: Make sure you do not press "Erase All Content and Settings" as that will wipe your phone!

I just mentioned this in another thread, but I think iOS 8 will likely not have a ton of new features and mainly focus on implementing some of the performance improvements that Apple has made in Mavericks. The two OS share a lot of the same code, so it seems likely that some of the performance and battery boosting additions could make their way to iOS 8.

There are some weird things going on.

Try this - open an app and then return to the home screen first by using the home button then do it again by using the "pinch to close" gesture.

On mine the home button method is smooth as silk but the pinch gesture has a very noticable stutter. Very weird and smacks of something in iOS that needs optimising.

Yep I noticed the same thing with the pinch gestures. Very ugly!

I'm noticing that the blur fade in and fade out when activating Siri is stuttery on my Air. Anyone else having this issue? Never had the issue on my iPhone 5.

Did side by side comparison with mini....

The Air was consistently faster, and did not reload pages/apps. Scrolling is MUCH smoother on the air in all instances. The mini had to reload my twitter app every time after jumping into 2 other apps, the air never did. I do not notice any lag at all.

I see this on my iPad 4. I see it as the "outer ring" of home screen icons sticks and hesitates before finishing the animation. It only occurs when using the "pinch" gesture to return to the home screen from within an app. Using the home button, the animation is smooth. One difference is the gesture is a zoom from the center of the screen, whereas the home button zooms from the app's icon position on the home screen (both seem to require the same effort, so it's not obvious watching the animation why it would be slow).

The same problem also shows up on an iPad 3, so even considering the 2x improvement of the 4 over the 3 (and now, these reports on the Air), having both/all show the same hesitation definitely points to the OS as the problem.

Left a lengthy feedback (iPad) for Apple. I suggest others seeing this (or any odd behavior) send feedback. They do listen.

Set mine up as a new device, and it runs MUCH smoother than my Mini did on iOS 7. I have no complaints about lagging, stutter, or crashes. My Mini was crashing constantly this past week, so I'm enjoying the Air. While I had my apps saved on my rMBP, I decided to only transfer music and video from my iTunes. All apps were downloaded from the App Store, as I didn't want to take any chances. ;)

P.S. Animations are barely noticeable on the Air compared to the Mini. I never updated my iPad 4 to iOS 7.......

Oh gosh this is so embarrassing for apple..I sold my iPad 3 and pre ordered an air, and was hoping they wouldn't dare to ship a new device with obvious bugs like that..but they do..poor Steve and what they so to his legacy.
Seriously I don't get what's up with Ive. He's such a perfectionist, he must see those flaws??!

How do I turn off the wiggly icon feature its making me sick?

Same lag

I thought it was my iPad air, ANd i was going to return it to return it, but i van see u hace the same issues, so....i tried to open 6 apps and it rebboted 3 times.

After rebooting i have the dame opened apps as before. Weird.

Its too laggy and aldo the keyboard and multitasking gestures. F"""

You can turn off the animations in Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion

FYI this actually fixes the stutter when pinching to leave the app, though the bottom icon bar has a weird visual glitch at the end. I see patches for iOS 7, though I'm surprised the pinch animation glitch made it through testing. It really is jarring.

I'm finding really simple things lag, like rotating in the App Store or closing a game like Pivvot looks rougher than on the iPad 2.

Make sure to turn on "increase contrast" in accessibility also. This greatly reduces the stutter when bringing up spotlight or the on screen keyboard or the control center.
