I think Apple are going to wait to see how sales go in the US before annoucing a firm date for the UK.Seeing that some US preorders are now being pushed back to April 12th doesn't make me feel very confident of the "late April" availability for the UK.Lets just hope that if the ipad is a sellout in the US that the extra stock does not get diverted to there with the rest of us getting pushed into May/June.

That's not the way big companies work; there's a huge amount of 'behind the scenes' stuff that needs to happen for a country product launch, much of it will have been in place for weeks/months and won't be predicated on 'waiting and seeing' how sales go in other markets. There simply isn't time to do major rethinks on launches with a couple of weeks notice...

Having 'no news' is frustrating but we ARE still a month out from the UK launch. Expect it to be available roughly on schedule and at roughly the pricing people seem to be discussing (from £399 is a likely number) and we're probably not too far out...

I'm putting my money on the 32GB Wifi being £510, I was hoping for it to be £450 as thats my self-set max budget for an ipad.

The 32GB wifi is $599 in the US, and the Mac mini is $599 which is sold for £510 on the UK store.

sad but probably true

the 64gb 3g iPad is $829, which is the same price as a mac mini 2.53 with an AVI adapter...

the UK price based on those equations is £689.00 which actually sounds bang on the money...

my 2p;

i think the delay in pre - order is being timed exactly to coincide with the ipad hysteria stateside, then boom stick it up for pre order in the eu / uk right after us launch = sell out - just like nintendo did with the Wii :mad:

we are all being played - lol ..... :rolleyes:

also on the price point a lot of uk peeps seem to be missing out on the fact that the 16gb wifi base model is not $499 for the majority of the USA it's about $535 - $545 when u factor in the relevant sales tax for that state.

so i think we will be very lucky to see £399

back on subject - i believe our pre - orders will start tuesday the 6th, just my guess...?

.. god, that's awful :/

450 is my self-imposed max too..

self imposed rules are the easiest to break eh... :D

why not;
get the 16gb, no rules broken... then u will have an excuse when the next gen one comes out to upgrade..... because u don't have enough space and cant be bothered with constantly syncing! - therefore you will "need" the new model and the old one will make a great gift. :p

I'm pretty sure Apple will run out of stock on pre-orders even without any additional hype!

Apple still have the slogan "...at an unbelievable price". I believe they will stick to that as much as they can. Hopefully they try and go for the low side of unbelievable! ;)

Hope it's not more than £399 for the 16g. Or it's no ipad for me!!
Maybe!!!

And a little off topic but if catch up tv works on the ipad as well as it does on the iPhone then I don't think I'll bother watching my tv again!!!!

Not come across this one. Whats it like on 3G?

Superb! I only got told about it yesterday and only had a quick play with it, but it really is very good. Quality isn't as high as iPlayer etc, but the streaming over a decent 3G signal is very smooth. Didn't compare with WiFi so not sure if the quality is any better.

They have submitted an app too apparently which should be good when it appears.

Back on topic... I reckon the £399, £450, £500 price points for the WiFi models seem pretty realistic and a shiny 32Gb will be coming my way if that's how it ends up!

A late announcement of prices probably means they aren't going to be pretty.

Still, 24th release with pre-orders on the 2nd sounds likely.

If Time Capsule and the cheapest iPad is $499 in the US store but Apple is already selling the Time Capsule for £399 in the UK Apple store then it should be logical that the cheapest iPad is £399 as well.

I'm sticking with my original prediction of a base model price of £379, with the other wifi models being £449 and £519.

I think these prices sound about right £379 is a price point down from £399 if Apple are going for the whole 'extraordinary price' route. :)

My own money is is 399 - 499 - 549 being the price points for the Wifi models. And I think we shall have some solid news (price announcement, availability date) from Apple within the first week of April - otherwise it will be further delayed. The prompt shipment of US models is, however, comforting, as they are all being shipped from China too - which means that there is no difference whatsoever, other than destination address, between US and International shipments.
