Am I the only one 'crazy' enough wanting to buy the 64GB 3G version ?
I'm praying for it to be £549, because if not then that's most probably going to put be off from buying an iPad ;( :apple:

The store usually has to go down half a day in advance just to change a sentence on there <exaggeration over> so shouldn't it have gone down by now if the announcement is expected at 1pm?

Oh please let this happen soon!!! :(

For the US launch there was a press release about pre-ordering a week before the preodering could take place.

It might be the same in this case - changing the iPad pages on the site as opposed to taking the store down (for pre-orders) can be instantaneous - Not there one minute and there the next.

I know what you mean. Although I think when the US announcement happened I think the site was down longer because they added all the iPad tabs in the store etc. *prays*

64gb 3g model for £549? nah..

it costs $829 + tax in the US
so if you add 8% tax (for example) and convert it comes out to around £590...

i don't think i've ever known UK prices to be even on par with US prices, let alone cheaper...

to be honest, it is a luxury item (unless u earn silly money of course), so it's priced accordingly...
it will probably come down in price in due course like the iphone.

Prices will be lower in the UK.

If the 64GB 3G version was close to £700 then you can pretty much get a Macbook for that. Whereas in the US, the 64GB 3G may be close to $800 but there Mac's start at over $1000.

I just called Apple's media/PR people and (after being a bit cagey until I confirmed my identity) they just said it's going on sale at the end of April and there should be an announcement sometime before then.

There was no "We'll be announcing it today!" or even a "We'll be announcing it real soon".

Might just be Apple secrecy but it's not filled me with confidence. :(

I'm getting a 64GB 3G but there's no chance it will be £549, I think

I'm also getting the 64GB 3G. I'd be happy to pay anything up to £700. Anything over that may change my choice.

shh! you'll give them ideas! Fixed it for you.

Since apple is having some conference about OS 4.0 for iPhone,iPod touch etc. on Thursday some people on the other thread think that is the time where at the beginning Steve will probably begin with 'updates about the iPad' and there he's going to mention the sales figures etc. and include the final shipping date for 3G and the EU price points. Looks like no updates today ... :(

There are quite a few things I need to know first. I'd like to know if we will get a deal like the AT&T one that means it can be activated and cancelled right on the iPad, and at a good price. If so, I'd consider getting the 32GB 3G model. If the account can't be controlled right on the iPad, then I think I'll go for the 64GB wifi-only model instead.

I definitely want 3G just incase I'm on the move. So I'm either getting 64GB wifi-only and getting a pay as you go mifi device to go with it... or I'll get the 32GB 3G model. It's cheaper to get a Mifi than pay for 3G... but if I can activate and cancel right on the iPad then it makes it more worth the price.

*Refreshes UK Apple Store page......again*

Come on Apple!!!! My mum just gave me a big wad of cash as an Easter gift and I'm-a needing to spend it.

12.50 & no change on the UK Apple Store & no email-waiting with baited breath sort of-it's difficult with a cuppa tea & an egg 'n bacon buttie!

Yep, onto another cup of tea.

I'm getting wi-fi only then a Mi-fi device (only £50), then I can use it with my MacBook pro and phone too. Also, I have BT broadband so get BT Openzone in quite a lot of places.

Hurry up. I've got things to do !!!!!

I'm going for 64GB wifi, and a mifi or similar should I need it. I'd even be tempted to jailbreak my iphone and use an app that provides an adhoc wifi network.

I don't like the thought of having a device which isn't a phone, locked in to network hardware... with 4G potentially around the corner and most of my usage near wifi, the 3G is something I'll add as necessary.
