Clearly nothing's happening on the UK announcement front or else we'd know about it by now. Press releases would have hit the RSS feeds by this time.

Ah well, back to keeping myself busy for another couple of days. Perhaps they'll announce their global plans at the same time as showing us OS 4.0 on Thursday. That timing would make more sense.

Going to the USA tomorrow till the 26th. Back in UK on 27th. Not sure if the 3G will be out by then stateside, but if anybody wants something picked up PM me.

I'm going for 64GB wifi, and a mifi or similar should I need it. I'd even be tempted to jailbreak my iphone and use an app that provides an adhoc wifi network.

I don't like the thought of having a device which isn't a phone, locked in to network hardware... with 4G potentially around the corner and most of my usage near wifi, the 3G is something I'll add as necessary.

Agreed. What I mean is that I will still consider the 3G model at least. But it will have to be a really great deal. If it isn't a breakthrough deal, then solutions like you've posted will suit me fine. Probably pay as you go Mifi.

What I really want to know about Mifi is this though:

1. Does credit carry over to the next month? Say it costs X for 1GB. If the month ends and you've used half of that, do you still have the other half to use in the next month?

2. The Mifi is a 3 device. Can I pop my O2 iPhone sim card into the Mifi?

:'( What a bad time to be off work, there is nothing to do except scour these boards and the same iPad stuff on the internet.

COME ON APPLE!!!

You need to get it unlocked, which 3 will do for £15 or you can buy one ready unlocked from eBay.

I'd either buy an unlock Mifi - so use it with any SIM - or buy one of these

However, I will definitely consider the iPhone 'tether' first, as I'm always likely to have that with me.

Yeah I know, but the most twisted thing is that I've been glued to my iPhone and reading/following all this stuff... my eyes are so strained!! Hmmm, if only Apple could release a product with a bigger screen and the same killer browser as iPhone... :p

The origin of the 1pm rumour was probably sound. It seems that UK Apple Store staff are all being briefed this week. Perhaps it was just that one particular store that was going to have their briefing at 1pm, and we just hungrily and erroneously extrapolated INTERNATIONAL PRE-ORDERS START AT 1PM TODAY!!!! from it...

;)

Thursday, I'm tellin' ya. I heard it from someone who knows about these things so it's definitely on.*

I text the lad whop told me this.... He hasn;t text back...

He's not really the type to wind people up

I didn't know 3 would unlock their Mifi. That's cool, because I'm already paying for my O2 3G for the iPhone. I won't be needing the 3G for the iPad very often, but I would be able to stick the iPhone simcard in the Mifi for the odd occasion when I do need to use it. I think that's what I'll do.

Not that the 3G model isn't cool. GPS and stuff is always handy.
