Wow. was it not you that I had a previous issue with taking the most ridiculous interpretation of my issue to somehow discredit my complaint?

I don't have to switch all the way to the next pane to be inconvenienced by my input being interpreted the wrong way, which is what is happening. I'm not "missing" the target. The slider input target is either too small to be useful (which is ridiculous in itself given that the main point of splitting into multiple panes was to make things less cluttered and therefore larger, easier to hit targets), or the input target for the pane switching is straight up overriding it, even if you do hit it.

Anyway, if you want to dissect it further into how you think its really user error and not a design flaw, have fun. i've said my piece and filed my bug and don't really care whether you think i'm wrong.

i agree with you. moving the music controls to a second pane is a loss of functionality/reduces funtionality, whatever you want to call it (Im not going to waste time arguing over silly semantics on an internet forum when everyone knows what you actually mean).

Now instead of one swipe (up) to access often used music controls, you need two swipes (up and over). Increasing the number of interactions needed to do something that is frequently does is a step backwards. Period. It would be easier to justify if they added additional functionality that is used just as often on the first panel, but they didnt. Instead they moved the night shift icon up but didnt add an icon to replace it. Why is so prominant? are people switching back and forth more than theyre using music controls? Seems crazy. Same thing with airplay and airdrop.

Apple and has moving backwards in ease of use for awhile, which the music app is a testament too. its a shame.

The thing is, if I have a 5 year old Mac that I use every day, I'd be looking to buy a replacement soon. But a 5 year old Mac that I use only once a week -- I'm just going to keep using it. Paying for a new Mac that I know I won't use that often doesn't make sense.

So even if iPad isn't a total replacement for the Mac, it delays my purchase of a new Mac. Maybe by the time my Mac is ten years old, iPads really will be able to 100% replace Macs. Maybe a lot of us have already bought our last desktop/laptop computers, and we just don't know it yet.

This is me exactly

Please stop the arguing, a number of posts were removed as they were derailing the thread.

Late to this thread and I didn't read all of it, but the gist if it seems to be that ios10 does little to enhance functionality on the iPad. I already knew it had little to offer for the Pro users.

Really disappointing...yet another reason why iPad sales continue on the downward trend.

Viticci suggested that when Apple introduced iOS 10 at WWDC was focus more on how it fits with the iPhone... getting the foundations in place.

And that a iPad focused iOS 10 will be released later on... perhaps in early next year. Which I kind of understand if that's the case given that the iPhone is such a critical part of Apple success.. I rather Apple put more thought into the iPad.

One can only hope.

I was all set to purchase a pro 12.9 when it got refreshed and now I'm not so sure.

If Apple doesn't want to prioritize the iPad, then why should I?

What exactly are you looking for?

I had purchased my 12.9 iPP when it launched and it's been great... not sure what they can really improve on as far as hardware is concern. Now iOS for the iPad needs more refinement, but Apple priorities will first go to the iPhone... it's their cash cow.

For what the iPP is now especially with 4GB Ram... I'd say it's a good buy if you can pick one up at a discount. But for the upcoming iPP Apple will surely update the display with True Tone and upgrade the camera.. but don't expect a refresh that will knock you off your feet.

Posted this on the iOS 10 Beta Forum before seeing this thread.

Regarding the new way of unlocking in iOS 10 and interaction with Smart Cover etc...

That is especially annoying if you use an iPad without a Passcode/Touch ID and the Smart Cover. Until now you just opened up the Smart Cover and were on the home screen, but now after opening your Smart Cover you have to press the Home button to get to the home screen....

Especially annoying if your holding your iPad in Portrait mode with your hands on the side and opening it up like a book...

That's why I feel that Apple might release a more focused update for the iPad early next year... perhaps late this year ::fingers cross::

As of now... it's more tailored to the iPhone. I really wish there was a team strictly working on iOS for the iPad and another for the iPhone. So, it can get a different perspective instead of the iPhone viewpoint.

Yeah! The iPad will remain a toy until it gets a keyboard, mouse, and runs full OSX. You know, like a MacBook.

Wake up Apple, we won't stand for these non-MacBook iPads. I swear I'll go buy an Android tablet, because it's exactly like a full desktop OS!!
Just wondering if you bought that Android tablet yet, and how it's working for you?

I agree, aside from updating the display to TT...I'm not expecting too much hardware wise. But software-wise, a lot can and should be done, and the fact that they haven't is what's disappointing.

For ex: unless I am wrong, you still can't really add more icons to each row still, so there is so much space on the 12.9" screen just being unused. Would it have been too much to ask for Apple to loosen the reins?

The lack of any real software enhancements for the Pro line makes one ask, aside from the pencil...what more does it do that the Air2 (a tablet from nearly 2 years ago), cannot.

The answer so far, seems to be...nada.

So... you want more icons added? Is that what's holding you from not getting the iPP?

Speaking of the benefit of the 12.9" iPP over the Air 2 is screen real estate... which IMO is understated. I've had every gen iPad except for the 1st gen and using 12.9" iPP is like a whole new experience.

The Pro line compared to the Air2 is more about the added accessories that can be included. In terms of software there's not much different. Apple prides itself on having iOS compatible w/ all their iPads except for the 1st gen which is pretty incredible.

I think if Apple starts to take a hard stance on eliminated iOS enhancements from previous hardware to help differentiate... it will alienate their customer base. But IMO at least give the iPP a try to determine what exactly you want... what do you have now?

If memory serves me correctly, apple has made some new ipad features available in x.1 and later updates to their software. So just because there may not be substantial improvements as of right now, i am expecting there will be at least some changes in the near future. Most notably, and hopefully soon, fix the interface for selecting split screen apps.
