On the bright side....this might mean its pretty cheap and nothing like the $1000 price tag thats been floated about.

Id sure hope so. looks like there will be several price points though, given the different amounts of flash memory you require.

It's kind of ironic if you have noticed that at the beginning of the show, SJ mentioned that Apple had to come up with something better than a netbook/phone/notebook for the mobile experience.

Meanwhile, this thing doesn't even come close to the laptop experience, because it's still much more practical to take a laptop with you than this strange form factored big iPod Touch.

Probably no flash.. no 'real' os x apps either.

Waste of R&D money, they could've better put it into the iPhone 4G (giving it a OLED screen, etc.) or a new/better/more anorexic MacBook.

it looks like a 13" MBP screen with a home button, that border and the icons' spacing is hideous! hideous!!

flop! flop! flop!!

was just thinking .. pixel doubled iphone games = a full ipad screen?

So the ipad has a 960 x 640 resolution screen? or there abouts? or am i off my rocker.

If you can't see how this is better than a netbook as far as *what it can do for Apple in sales* as far as multi-streamed revenue (ebooks, gaming, stealing customers away from netbooks, etc), you're behind.

This is right on.

I am not denying that this could be a great move for making even more money on Apple's side.

However, this device adds nothing to us people already owning a MacBook for portability, an iMac for desktop use, and an iPhone for portable use.

Oh and by the way: I don't see this thing stealing netbook market share. Netbooks support flash and have output ports. This device has neither.

since the border has so much space, I can see someone building a add-on control input to slap on the bottom of this, maybe an analogue with some buttons

Specs are weak..

Screen needed to be 10.7 (Matte Screen)
Storage needed to be >64GB

Sure, i bet this device looks great from a sales & stock holder stand point. While I care that Apple is successful, I'd also like to see them create devices that push what you do with your computer/software. I just don't see this device doing it for me, even if it is a great e-book/magazine reader.

Well that was the original report remember?

" Apple Tablet is as if the 1st Gen iPhone meet it's match against a rolling pin"

I guess your thinking abilities do you no good.

I was referring to the software & app store, more than the physical form factor of the device. Thanks for your helpful insight however.

what a huge piece of junk lol. an oversized ipod touch really? this was the revolutionary device? LMAO!!!! I guess I'll be waiting for the MBA update to get something for travel. File this under over-hyped piece of crap which will probably sell anyways.
