I'm using one and I can say the display is way more beautiful than my iPad Air, so beautiful I'm refrained from using a screen protector.
Look into a glass screen protector from one of the respected vendors.

I am really happy with mine on iPads and all iPhones. I hate the look and feel of plastic protectors, and so far ( knock on wood ) my glass protectors appear to work, have shattered 2, all while keeping my devices screen protected, and retain the smooth glass feel I like on these iDevices .

Good. I actually returned an iPad Mini and got an iPad Air instead due to the color issues. I photographed both screens. Even with an iPhone camera the difference is clear.

With all of the stuff they did with the mini 4 (thinner, faster, multi-tasking capabilities, better display) you'd think Apple would spend more time talking about it.
No one will give them credit for the effort it takes to miniaturize full-size iPad tech into a smaller package. Instead, they would likely be bashed for trying to talk up what is otherwise year-old tech.

Note: I am aware that it wasn't without a small trade-off in processing power, likely due to battery size and heat dissipation concerns in the smaller unit.

Well, just as soon as I finish paying for the trip to Vegas that we just got back from.

Finally! No more colour gamut haters on the iPad mini!

Color gamut is a valid concern if it falls below a certain threshold. Web content tends to favor some variant of sRGB, so it's difficult to regard something as a high quality display if it cannot meet that. Beyond that point it isn't very meaningful as a measure of quality.

My first iPad was the Air,soon happily replaced it with a Mini 2 and realized it's definitely a superior size/form factor comparred to the Air.

the screen colour issue though was noticeable between Mini 2 and Air /iPhone 6,it's great to finally see Apple addressing this stupid and intentional flaw.(to help boost Air sales against Mini? Who knows).

Now I just need to wait until January so I can grab a deal for the Mini 4. The best iPad yet.

Apple was just trying to cheap out for the sake margins.
Every company does this. It's how they stay in business. What Apple does well or perhaps best is deciding what features/parameters their customers will miss and which ones they won't. Sometimes no one even notices what they're missing and sometimes the tech media blows it completely out of proportion so that people actually think they're missing something when they are not. In the case of color gamut, virtually no consumer notices such things unless they re comparing side by side to one with much better gamut. But you will never stop some people from quoting and comparison shopping based solely on specs.

Try washing your hands once in awhile, it works wonders.
i got an iPad 3 and two iPhones none of those leave smudges like my iPad Air 2 does. its. def. the coating and has been talked about before. while i can clean my iPad 3 with two soft wipes i have to put real pressure on the Air 2 to remove it somewhat

The mini has always been my favorite iPad. It is nice to see it get treated correctly this year! (mini 3 was the iPad 3 of old).

I would disagree with the comparison. iPad 3 introduced the retina display on iPad, which was eye-poppingly fantastic at the time. Performance wasn't blazing (it did have a better processor than iPad 2), but screen alone was worth thr upgrade. Mini 3 added Touch ID and another color but kept internals identical.

Can't blame them, that would be tantamount to admitting they left the Mini 3 behind like an ugly stepchild, besides they were too busy talking about the new iPhones, iPadPro and :apple:tv.

had a mini 1&2. loved the formed factor but still missed the larger screen size, picked up an Air 2 last January and am constantly amazed at how thin and light it is. I do like the overall size of the mini and the 4 is tempting, but one of the big things to consider is that 3D touch will likely come to the Air 3 and maybe mini 4 next year. for anyone getting the 6S, i would imagine not having 3D touch to access sub menus on the ipad will get annoying (like having touch ID on iphones and Air 2 and not on Mini 2).

That and with the Air 2 only about a third heavier and hopefully going to get lighter, and potentially the ability to get smaller by the rumored removal of the home button next, its feels (to me) like its worth waiting for next year while enjoying the air 2.

Yes, but they replaced it less than 6 months later.

This Mini 4 is quite a capable little machine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone and that might be the first time I can say that freely about any Mini.
