Picked up an iPad Mini 4 last week to replace my iPad Mini 2. Definitely a worth while upgrade between the better screen and the new dimensions of the device. Absolutely love it!

This is welcomed news, particularly about the reflections in ambient light. I've was about to buy a refurbished Mini 2 to use in conjunction with my Phantom 3 quad copter but one of the main issues with any devices for this purpose is reflections. Might have to spend the extra coin on the Mini 4 now with these improvements.

Good. I have iPad mini 2 and it has a horrible screen (and I replaced it twice to see if I had a bad batch). Anything from limited color gamut to contrast shift when watching contents that shifts from dark to bright scene (and vice versa). Too bad new iPads lack 3D Touch and A9 processors.

With all of the stuff they did with the mini 4 (thinner, faster, multi-tasking capabilities, better display) you'd think Apple would spend more time talking about it.
Can you imagine if you were on the team that helped to develop the mini 4? You'd think that you would clearly get at least 5 minutes to share all of the hard work and advances you made. Instead, you got 1 sentence. hahaha that's corporate politics. Someone got seriously shafted at Apple though.

Every company does this. It's how they stay in business. What Apple does well or perhaps best is deciding what features/parameters their customers will miss and which ones they won't. Sometimes no one even notices what they're missing and sometimes the tech media blows it completely out of proportion so that people actually think they're missing something when they are not. In the case of color gamut, virtually no consumer notices such things unless they re comparing side by side to one with much better gamut. But you will never stop some people from quoting and comparison shopping based solely on specs.

Oh, I'm well aware. Also, even owning an Air 2 myself I never noticed the difference unless side-by-side. That's why I really didn't care. However, why now all of sudden they added a better display is whats throwing me off. Did they get a change of heart of all of a sudden?

WTF Apple?! Did anyone else notice that the "Smart case" is gone and replaced by the silicone case $59 and smart cover $39! I really liked the Smart case since I found the magnetic latch on the side of the smart cover to be the weakest link in the product and over the years will start to come off randomly.

There's ONE MORE THING going for the iPad mini 4 that surprisingly, every review/hands-on report has failed to mention so far.

One thing about the mini 4 that bests the Air 2! Namely, the speaker output. And no, the mini does not employ the louder speaker. The speaker it has does a far better job at NOT carrying the sound vibration to the chassis. For this very reason I gave up the purchase of the Air 2. I almost bought one on-line, but thankfully did chose to inspect one in person in an iSpot (one of Apple's resellers in Poland). Boy, how disappointed I was! I'm relieved to report, that the mini 4 I toyed with, although not perfect in this regard, did a far better job at NOT making me "feel" the sound it produces. With that out of the way, there's nothing left that prevents me from buying one now.

It's about time. I sent mine back when I saw the screen a couple of years back. It was so dull compared to the iPad 4 I had back then. Funny they did it so quietly. Like with the RAM increase. As if these things aren't even worth mentioning, when in fact they are a huge deal when it comes to using the devices.

Maybe the reason why everyone "failed" to mention it, is because it is a non-issue? I have an iPad Air 2 and although I feel the vibrations at times, it poses no issue at all to me. In addition I have never heard of anyone having an issue with it around me (and yes, I know that is not a representative sample).

I find it baffling that the iPad Pro will not have 3D touch.

yes, someone at apple totally went crazy about that. here in germany it is 45 € + 69€ for the smart cover and the case. 114€?! really?!?!? they almost doubled the price! :/

finally someone is talking about that! I got the ipad air 2 and returned it because of the vibrations. it felt so weird. anyway, just checked the mini 4 today in the apple Store and YES, it is muuuch better. same song, same volume level on both devices and while the air 2 was giving me a 'massage ', the mini 4 was vibrating only a tiny bit. so glad that they did something about that. :)

Don't forget no A8X and the display while being better than last gen it still isn't on par with the Air 2.
Display wise,imo: Air2>Mini4>Air>>Mini3.
