Good. I actually returned an iPad Mini and got an iPad Air instead due to the color issues. I photographed both screens. Even with an iPhone camera the difference is clear.
Can you imagine if you were on the team that helped to develop the mini 4? You'd think that you would clearly get at least 5 minutes to share all of the hard work and advances you made. Instead, you got 1 sentence. hahaha that's corporate politics. Someone got seriously shafted at Apple though. With all of the stuff they did with the mini 4 (thinner, faster, multi-tasking capabilities, better display) you'd think Apple would spend more time talking about it.
Every company does this. It's how they stay in business. What Apple does well or perhaps best is deciding what features/parameters their customers will miss and which ones they won't. Sometimes no one even notices what they're missing and sometimes the tech media blows it completely out of proportion so that people actually think they're missing something when they are not. In the case of color gamut, virtually no consumer notices such things unless they re comparing side by side to one with much better gamut. But you will never stop some people from quoting and comparison shopping based solely on specs.
Now we just need an iPad Pro with a real operating system like OSX.
Great news.
2GB RAM
A8
Good display
and so on ...
There's ONE MORE THING going for the iPad mini 4 that surprisingly, every review/hands-on report has failed to mention so far.
Yes, but they replaced it less than 6 months later.
Good. I have iPad mini 2 and it has a horrible screen (and I replaced it twice to see if I had a bad batch). Anything from limited color gamut to contrast shift when watching contents that shifts from dark to bright scene (and vice versa). Too bad new iPads lack 3D Touch and A9 processors.
WTF Apple?! Did anyone else notice that the "Smart case" is gone and replaced by the silicone case $59 and smart cover $39! I really liked the Smart case since I found the magnetic latch on the side of the smart cover to be the weakest link in the product and over the years will start to come off randomly.

One thing about the mini 4 that bests the Air 2! Namely, the speaker output. And no, the mini does not employ the louder speaker. The speaker it has does a far better job at NOT carrying the sound vibration to the chassis. For this very reason I gave up the purchase of the Air 2. I almost bought one on-line, but thankfully did chose to inspect one in person in an iSpot (one of Apple's resellers in Poland). Boy, how disappointed I was! I'm relieved to report, that the mini 4 I toyed with, although not perfect in this regard, did a far better job at NOT making me "feel" the sound it produces. With that out of the way, there's nothing left that prevents me from buying one now.
I have an iPad Air 2 and although I feel the vibrations at times, it poses no issue at all to me.
I got the ipad air 2 and returned it because of the vibrations. it felt so weird.
I find it baffling that the iPad Pro will not have 3D touch.
Don't forget no A8X and the display while being better than last gen it still isn't on par with the Air 2.
- taller
- thicker bezels
- assymetrical home button placement
- no darker 2015 Space Gray
