The vibration issues some found unworkable in the iPad Air 2 are not a concern with the Mini 4!!!

On the display, I'm not seeing anything bad in comparison to my iPhone 6 with photos. I'll be interested to see what Displaymate and other professional reviews has to say about the screen. Looks great in comparison to the Air.

As for battery life I've never been much of a battery watcher so take it fwiw, but it does seem to drain more noticeably than my Air in my admittedly very brief time with it. We'll see after a few days/cycles.

Hopefully 2015 Air 2 also get a fix on its chassis vibration. It is actually updated too albeit very miniscule (only Bluetooth version update). Hoping that Apple silently fixes vibrategate.

Picked up a iPad mini 4 - 64GB Silver tonight at the Apple Store. Got home and it had a couple dead pixels....so back to the Apple store. Everyone really nice, no problems with the exchange....opened in store and screen was good.

Initial thoughts:
- Wow.....it really does feel thinner and lighter than the iPad mini 2. As I was setting it up, just reaching to pick up the mini 2 you could instantly tell it was thicker and heavier. Very happy with the weight since I do a lot of reading.
- Speed is snappy. No complaints.
- Love having Touch ID on the iPad finally

Overall very happy. Haven't done enough yet to test the extra RAM.

Nice upgrade.

PS. I'm sure it's been said but the old smart covers DO NOT fit the new mini 4.

Hearing about the battery issue, I'll check it out as soon as I can. I don't game on the ipad, but I can definitely test the mini out using wifi and general usage. I didn't think it drained too fast. I did disable parallexing as well, but will re-enable it for default specs. A friend of mine is picking up my case tonight.

Also, someone mentioned about my color comparison. I only can test it against the iphone 6 and ipad 2. I would love as much feedback on the color comparison as I can get to pass on to you all.

Trebuin, thanks for this unboxing report.
I'm a photographer interested in using a Mini 4 to review images in the field. Color gamut is ...

Tapper, I'm interested to know how you port the images from your camera over to the iPad. What's your workflow?

That's what you get when you choose to use the 8 chip instead of the new 9. What he's describing is exactly what I see on the Mini 2. Looks like the 8 isn't making much of a difference. I hate laggy UIs.

An iOS 9 issue? 9.1 is running well on my mini 2 at the moment. Also be wary of testing things on a brand new device as there is a bunch of housekeeping going on that can impact performance.

My reasons to want to keep it.

2GB ram, I struggled for years with force closure of apps because of low ram.
I like how thin and light it is.
Touch ID
Gold color, I have had Space Grey with devices for the longest time.
Runs well on IOS 9.
The display and colors I have no issues with.

Jury is still out on battery life. I used it alot yesterday to set it up and install apps so hard to gauge overall life as I abused it the first day. And it does not get hot, a little warm but that's it. There is some vibration at highest volume nowheres near the ipad Air 2 and I don't keep it at full volume anyways. It was still a distraction at lower volumes on the Air 2.

I've noticed a decrease in battery life but can't tell if it is my downloading and installing. I will be using today to test this and should have details tonight.

Also, I'm pretty sure my installing is burning the battery due to heavy cup use uncompressing and downloading about 20GB of data. Not doing that today.

Trend one: 1hr browsing and some downloading, one app setup burnt 13% giving me about 8 hrs of use
What brightness level was set up on your iPad? I personally hope it was over 50 %, otherwise the battery inside this new iPad Mini 4 sucks... :(

Getting started from backup was amazingly painless. Battery life appears as advertised so far. Has been in continuous use for 2 hours and now at 80% so on track for 10 hours. Speakers OK with no obvious vibration. iOS9 is also a nice upgrade.

I am still syncing all my music/movies. I think the audio speakers are great. I also think the screen is Apple excellent. That said, it will never be as color punchy as the Samsung super amoled. The Apple screens will also not suck power down as fast on white screens like the amoled does.
I am very happy. I think this screen looks outstanding.
