Just noticed...but am I the only one thinking it's a little strange, that there should be FOUR storage space options (8-64) while ALL other iDevices have only three (if they have any)? Somehow that makes this a little implausible...

Agreed. Doesn't sound right.

Don't get me wrong....I don't have a problem with Apple offering an 8GB option.....I think any 8GB version should be closer to $199....not $249.

$50 more than a 16gb nano will not happen...

$249 is the minimum IMHO

they should have done 16 and 32 and 64. with the 16gb the same cost of what they would price the 8gb. its a media consumption device and not being able to do most of what you could do on a model with more space destroys the entire point of having it.

If someone wants to buy the 8gb version, who are you to tell them they shouldn't even have the option?

Basically all 7" tablets have an 8gb version available.

If they are pushing this for books and digital magazines, then you'll run out of space in no time, particularly with mags. Some of the digital magazine editions are 500MB to 1GB in size.

If you get the 8G one, you have to use wifi a lot )

We have to keep in mind the iPad Mini will be targeted as an e-reader first that highlights iBooks. 8GB of storage is not that far fetched if one were to only use it for reading, email, and web-surfing. $250 USD sounds about right.

The 8Gb is probably there as an entry model so that it can be compared to their android equivalents on a price level. If Apple only introduced 32GB as the entry level at a higher price than android entry levels, then the average consumer (not the type that would visit these forums) would probably turn away the moment they see the price.

Am I the only one who is bothered by the lack of a Retina display? Apple is going Retina on all new devices, except some of the MacBooks, and yet it is suggested that the iPad Mini will not have one? For me, Retina should be standard in Apple's products now. If not this time, it will surely follow with the next refresh, which would definitely keep me from buying one now. I hope that some parts of the rumours are just not true.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7.0 only has 8Gb, I only have to sneeze on it and it fills up....

but then it does have an SD micro card slot!...which is always a nice option!

And

iPod touch 32Gb US$ 299
iPod touch 64Gb US$ 399

Does this make sense ? So the smallest tablet is 8Gb and the smallest touch is 32Gb... I don't think so.

Yes totally agree here, especially they've just shipped the latest gen iPod Touch. If these prices rumors become truth, the iPad Mini would definitely kill iPod Touch.

i said replace the 8 with the 16 with the same price. so pricewise they would get more for the same cost as the 8 would have been. why would you want less if 16 is the same price? dont twist what i said.

$249 for an 8gb sounds very realistic. I just hope it has GPS capabilities. If it does, I'm game. If you are smart with what you listen/watch/download 8gb is not too horrible. Sure you got to be economical about it. I use the google music 3rd party app that lets me stream my music collection. I stream my movies through Plex.

I know it would be easier to have more storage, but to save 100 bucks and get all the great features of IOS 6.

All that being said, having GPS is a must. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it does.

Pad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular 8GB: US$ 349

This all makes total sense to me. It's SOP for Apple these days.

It's like the old iPod touch (and current 'free on contract' iPhones), offer 8 gig as an almost unusable entry point. They'll market it with the Cloud and Airplay, but know most people will eventually upgrade to a more profitable model.

What's disappointing is they are trying to shake $349 for a 16 gig device when Nexus does it for $100 less and are heavily rumored to be releasing a 16 gig $199 model and $249 32 gig model shortly.

If it's between a 16 gig $199 Nexus and a $349 iPad, that will be a very easy decision.

Can we give credit to this "leak" evoking a 3G iPad Mini whereas 4G technology is emphasised for the iPhone 5 and iPad 3

And where exactly does the link/leak say it's 3G? I only see that in the article, not in the screenshot.

I've been hoping for 64GB + 4G LTE. It makes sense for Apple to do it, but then I could also see them only offering a 32GB version.

Storage is the cheapest spec to increase and one of the cheapest components in the entire device, yet it is the sole determining factor in the model's price. Going from 8gb to 16gb should not be a $100 premium.

"The company's internal documentation shows a choice of 3G or just WiFi."
yes the screen shot just says cellular. These really might just be iPad2's in a smaller form factor.
