Personally, I buy and test, inspect and fuss till I find the perfect tool for me with functionality, value and perfect build - when found, I keep it for and be productive on it for over 8 years at least, which point I put it on craigslist and sell it within 4 days in MINT CONDITION for 100 dollars less than original purchase price, and everyone is happy!!

Happy day!

Love you all thank you.

W h a t ? We talk about electronics.

By the way, i love my rMini and can't blame Apple for little build quality. My rMini as good as I expected it to be.

Great on you!

I too LOVE my iPad Air, finally after 6 returns I found the perfect one for me yay!

It's not twice the price and it's not the Apple on the back you are paying, but the design, the operative system and the entire ecosystem behind that.
Do you prefer an android cheap tablet ? Feel free to buy one and good luck.

Okay, 1.74 of the price. Big difference. If I wanted an Android tablet I would've got one. For years I've been told by every Apple fan that Apple's products have superior quality, yet here we are with people telling OP that he should just deal with his iPad having dust under the screen - as if they are trying to change the narrative, all just to not admit that Apple has quality issues. Or perhaps Apple's low quality is the norm now.

Cheap components ? Like an aluminum case and a good display ? Or a 64-bits CPU ?
rMini is just in another league compared with Kindle or Dell tablets ....

A lot more features or the usual marketing gimmick typical of Samsung 's products, good just to make the specs list longer ?

I can't speak about galaxy tabPro 8 since I can't find it in my store and I don't know it yet, but speaking about multitasking on a 8" device ....

Btw we are going off topic.
None of those tablets can run iOS so they are not a choice for me (nor something to speak about on this section of the forum).

It's in another league when it comes to screen quality as well. And not a higher one either. My Nexus 7 has a much nicer screen than my Air or the many rMini's I returned.

I will think long and hard before I buy another iPad or iPhone.

Just Google "nexus 7 dust under the screen" and report back.
Or try with any other major model instead of "Nexus 7" ...

You are going to find out that almost every model has defective units and quality control issues. Every one.

I'm not saying dust under the screen is acceptable, I'm just saying that searching for dust with an illuminated microscope is just ridiculous, because if you are looking for a defect on a consumer class device you'll probably find one.

Maybe in your world ... In mine the nexus 7 is just another tablet with android installed, and for that reason an useless device. It's a pity because I like the nexus 7 but ... it's android.

Who said anything about searching for dust with a microscope ever?

Take your iGlasses off and enter the real world.

There were people suggesting to search for defects in very ridiculous ways, like the "image retention test image" you could find in another thread ...

My concept of real world is one without an awful operative system like android.
From your signature I can see you have a Lumia and a Surface: well, I'm a very happy WP 8 user, who recently upgrade his Lumia 620 with a wonderful Lumia 925. So I don't wear any iGlasses, it's just Android I can't stand with.

It's not just that, but as a customer of Apple I'd be more than happy for these Gomers to stop abusing the return policy by buying something that isn't Apple from now on. Apple's generous and liberal return policy is paid for by none other than those of us who actually don't return Apple products ad nauseum, meaning our products cost us more so these people can jump through convoluted hoops to find flaws in their products so they can return them.

This absurd OCD-oriented searching for flaws in a product that would never affect the daily use of said product, ever, ever, ever, is such a disgusting and wasteful attitude.

No one could ever return another ipad again, and the prices wouldn't go down.

to see what is all under your screen you have to have a brightly lit room and you have to have good near sighted vision, tilt the ipad air or retina mini in all directions but still laying flat, I mean, lift each corner slightly and scan the screen, you'll find nice tiny shimmering dust of make up or aluminum dust or industrial debris tiny enough to end up in the assembly line and into your screen. the poorest quality control ever. i've already returned over 14 airs and minis.

If you have to do all that to find such a "defect", you must have issues.

Here's an idea: I'm not going to go to a bright lit room, put my cornea up to the screen and scan pixel by pixel one at a time to see if there's a speck of dust I'd never see in any other condition. Instead, I'll just enjoy using my iPad.

I know my ipad as slight light bleed on the sides at maximum brightness but you know what? I don't care because I never have it that high in normal usage. And if the room was so bright I needed it at max brightness I'd not be able to notice the bleed anyway.

Common sense folks... use common sense.

And the guy you quoted who returned 14 iPads is just insane. Who does that for real?

I have only returned one iPad and that was my original Retina Mini because I decided I wanted the 128GB instead of the 32. My Air is also perfect.

You completely miss my point, but hey, that's cool - my point is that if people who declare themselves proudly and with such impunity on these forums of their insane product return antics were to move over to other manufacturers and buy other products and no longer bought Apple products, I'd be a much happier Apple customer, as would I think lots of people, especially here on this forum where we've grown really tired of all ridiculous and insane, "I'm so cool, I returned 14 iPads" stories.

You are right, I did miss your point. Sorry. I thought you were saying that the prices were higher because of frivolous returns. I understand your frustration. I didn't take those posts as bragging, but if they were that is not cool.

Again, I'm sorry I misunderstood your point.

They should really put a limit on returned units. Something like "4 returns and then a full refund and goodbye".
