Same problem here! Delivery estimated to November 5th. What shall I do?

Mine is coming through Baltimore and had the same "Mechanical failure occurred." I called Apple for clarity because UPS told me to call Apple (why UPS told me to call Apple is beyond me) and they refunded me the cost of my Smart Cover.

I have two separate orders and both delivered by UPS but different routing.
I received one of mine today which were routed through Chantilly VA. But the other one that route through Baltimore had a "Mechanical failure occurred." early this morning and shows no sign of delivery today... Kinda mad, too.

I am thinking about call Apple to complain this evening... but what can I ask for?

And what do you expect Apple to do, fly out and fix the UPS airplane/truck?

on apple's site it says 2 weeks.. is that a cover their *ss thing or does it really take 2 weeks

I ordered a 64GB White & Silver iPad Mini at 12:07 AM PST on Oct. 26th. and have an Estimated Delivery Date of November 16th. Two days ago I got the "Preparing for Shipment" on my order status. Anyone have any idea how long it takes for the Preparing for Shipment status to actually change to Shipped? haha. Just curious. Was really hoping to get mine delivered today. Guess the 7 minutes I took to place my order bumped it.

LoL I had apple corporate in Austin call me today and say that one of my iPad mini's has ran into a problem, the box was empty at fedex's holding facility in Nashville... Either a fedex employee stole it or a foxconn employee never put it in the box lol

I am pretty pissed with FedEx right now. It had a scheduled delivery of today by noon. Well 12:50 rolls around and the status gets updated to "package not due for delivery" because apparently the trucks left for today. How convenient for them after it was held in CA for five days. Good logistics work FedEx. Will try to pick up in town.

It's now 5:45pm, still no sign of my UPS driver with my 16GB white iPad mini :(

It's 4:48PM where I am and same here still no sign of my UPS driver as well. All I know is I will get it today.

Edit: wow just as I write this UPS just pulls up. Very stoked.

Has anybody had any problems with the delivery people not honoring your pre-sign sheet?

Yep, it appears that is up to the Driver's judgement. I guess if they feel it will get stolen then they have the option of ignoring the pre-sign sheet. Everybody was taking about that here a few days ago when the smart covers pre-sign sheets were getting ignored.

I guess a little box that comes from Apple is a pretty tempting item so the drivers are not just leaving them.

Delivered by UPS at around 3:00 (I was at work but had someone sign for me). Quick couple of minutes to set up and now it is charging. But first impression was excellent! I really liked the feel and look of it. :)

Well, apple customer care upgrade it for a Saturday delivery . At least that they can do and sent me a coupon code for it. How about it?

Or maybe Apple should just give it to you for free in reaction to a mechanical problem with a UPS vehicle/plane. Sad that some people think someone else should compensate them for the normal ups and downs of life they experience.

Almost 4:30 here, still no UPS. Come on!!

Me too. They can get it across the country on like 4 different flights in 10 hours but to get it across town on a truck takes longer.

Aaaand it's here. I had given up hope when 5:00 rolled around, couple minutes later and there was the ups van outside.

Apples is aware of the situation and send out an official apology letter to whom in the area that got affected. That's what called good customer service! What's wrong with it???
