I just got off the phone with Apple and explained to them that UPS said my iPad mini would be delivered tomorrow, and that I did not know why given that I love in MD. The apple customer care person said that he thinks its because of the "mechanical failure" and that it would be delivered tomorrow if I do not get it today. And as a gesture of courtesy he refunded the cost of my Smart Cover that I ordered. So that makes me feel a little better.

I should just go to the store, buy one, and then let them make a few delivery attempts before refusing.

I have two separate orders and both delivered by UPS but different routing.
I received one of mine today which were routed through Chantilly VA. But the other one that route through Baltimore had a "Mechanical failure occurred." early this morning and shows no sign of delivery today... Kinda mad, too.

I am thinking about call Apple to complain this evening... but what can I ask for?

arrived around 3:15pm, not bad for UPS in our neighborhood
the driver said he had something i really wanted, he's had a few in our zipcode
really easy to hold with 1 hand and view or type
 
FedEx online says mine should be delivered by 3pm. Which is odd because FedEx usually comes to my area around 4pm.

It's 12:45 meow and it's been on the truck since 8:30am.

Same here. 3PM, its 1 now.
Im supposed to be at work by 2:30. Looks like im gonna be "stuck in traffic"

Everyone else who I know also ordered it already got theirs! So frustrating!

Mine is coming through Baltimore and had the same "Mechanical failure occurred." I called Apple for clarity because UPS told me to call Apple (why UPS told me to call Apple is beyond me) and they refunded me the cost of my Smart Cover.

Not me. Took the day off, and I can't even shower now, because I'm home alone, and afraid I'll miss the doorbell. :D

Hurry up UPS guy!!
 
^ Same. I mean literally I can't do anything. I can't even go out grocery shopping and the likelihood that UPS may come by the time I head out to the store. I'm just sitting at home reading my book while I wait.

I got mine at 2:30PM from Fedex! I also got my Sensu stylus and my smart cover yesterday.

It's so awesome!

I have to work from 7PM to 4AM though. :( I have Saturday-Monday off though so..woop!

Where did you get a stylus? Are you using it for drawing? I've never used a stylus on an iDevice before. I even had a few Palm pilots & found my finger worked just as well.

I'm going to grab Photoshop, so I might just look into a stylus for that.
 
I just got one off amazon. Nothing super fancy but it had good reviews. I'm using it primarily to take notes in class with some drawing on the side.
 
Mine just got here! This thing is beautiful, but oh so cold! It's been in that cold, cold Fedex van since 7AM! Other than that, this thing is super light and thin, but you can definitely tell that it doesn't have a retina display, but it is a non-issue IMO.
 
Ah, shoot me. My building manager just called to say the package has been delivered, but she left for lunch and will be back in 1 hour :D
 
Nevermind! Now HOURS after it left, the status on the UPS page shows it's out for delivery NOW! YEE HAW!
