Timmy don’t disappoint us! just because you can doesn’t you should… but please give mini the love it deserve! i will surely buy

We have an old Mini 3 floating around, and the form factor it's one of those devices that you really like or really ignore, sometimes both in the same week.

It has its uses...use it for something, then switch to use your 11" iPad and realize you have so much more screen...but then you get up to get a snack and grab the Mini becuase its there and just feels more pickup-able moveable, and spend next 20 mins doing the same thing on it that you were just doing on the 11" iPad.

Look forward to a spec jump for storage and ideally an M series (2 or higher, ideally 3) processer to have it last a solid 5-6 years, at least a few more years than an A processer.

I want it, I hope Apple make one in silver too, not starlight

“Apple is rumored to be planning to refresh the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMacwith M4 chips, so an iPad with a similar A-series chip would fit in with those announcements.”

It would make more sense to use an M-series chip in any new iPad, just to future-proof it for Apple Intelligence and stuff.

All iPads should be M-series chips to run all iPad apps. Having apps that don’t run on brand new iPads is confusing. Even an M1 would work.
Which apps only run on M chips? Not sure if the Mini has the thermal and battery capacity to run an M chip without throttling to the point of it not being worth it, though.
The Mini is in a weird place now that the rest of the iPad lineup has gone in the direction of becoming more laptop-like. It can’t really follow because of its size. It’s the only one that’s still purely the original intention of the iPad, an “in between” device. But also not sure it can spin off into its own product line because it shares so much in common with all the other iPads. Just a weird place.

Back in the day… I was planning on getting an iPad mini 6 and was excited about it — until I saw the Jelly Scroll. No iPad mini for me.
Maybe this next one will be better.
i am using iPad mini 6 for three years (now wife is using it), never noticed the jelly scroll. YMMV though

Supplies of the sixth-generation iPad mini are dwindling at "many" Apple retail stores
Really? No stock shortages in Australia or many US and European stores.

Are you getting your info from the guy that swore black and blue the announcement was going to be Sep 10? 🤦‍♂️

Eight unreleased Apple devices with the A14 Bionic, A17 Pro, and M2 chips were among the list of chip identifiers (CPIDs). There are two upcoming A14 Bionic and A17 Pro devices, and four upcoming ‌M2‌ devices. MacRumors believes they relate to the following products:
  • A14 Bionic: iPad (11th-generation) in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations. The model number does not correlate to what the ‌iPad‌ (11th-generation) is expected to have, so it may be a modified ‌iPad‌ (10th-generation) in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations instead, or potentially a HomePod with a display.
  • A17: iPad mini (seventh-generation) in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations. This may be the A17 Pro chip or an A17 variant.
  • M2: iPad Air (sixth-generation) in 10.9- and 12.9-inch display sizes and in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations.
Won’t be called A17 Pro because that’s being manufactured on the N3B node process which is being phased out soon. Unless Apple wants to continue using the more expensive N3B process which I wouldn’t expect given how much nicer that cheaper N3E process must look to Tim. Now it’s possible that Apple will call a variant manufactured on the new cheaper N3E node process A17 to differentiate it from the A18 used for the 16/16 Plus and the A18 Pro used for the 16 Pro/16 Pro Max in some way. That would be a little confusing and I would fail to see the logic in Apple choosing that naming path.

I don’t see any indications that stock of the current iPad mini is dwindling. Almost all Apple Stores in my area (NYC Metro) have them in stock, only one doesn’t. Amazon, Best Buy, Target, etc - all in stock. Looks like we have a nothing burger here.

Shrink the massive bezels please.
Where are you going to hold the device, if there are no bezels? That's one of the difficulties I had with the iPad mini 6th gen—the bezels already felt slim enough. It's fine to get rid of the bezels if you're just using it to watch videos or perhaps to read e-books, but I felt much more comfortable with the 5th gen. bezels than the 6th. Personal preference.

IMO this is the only iPad that makes sense. Perfect form factor for an e-reader where iOS still serves it well. For every other iPad size, with the exception of a few niche cases it just makes more sense to buy a MacBook.

Base line architecture is more important so an A17 Pro (3nm base for M3) is a more advanced processor than the M2 (A15 based 5nm) for instance.

As most others have stated the new mini will most likely have the A18 (due to manufacturing processes) which is essentially a downscaled M4 chip. The only factor im not sure about is whether the A18 on the mini 7 will provide full stage manager functionality on external monitor.
