I don't see the appeal. I have a 15PM Nd iPad Pro. Mini just seems unnecessary.
For many in the aviation industry, the mini is the only useable iPad as it is the only one that fits on most aircraft yokes.

why not an M chip? Why give it a 17 pro chip can’t they just give it a A18 like the iPhone 16 lineup?
A17 Pro is cheaper and enough for most features, M1 gets hotter and most multitasking features are not ideal for iPad mini screen anyway.why not an M chip?
Which apps only run on M chips? Not sure if the Mini has the thermal and battery capacity to run an M chip without throttling to the point of it not being worth it, though. All iPads should be M-series chips to run all iPad apps. Having apps that don’t run on brand new iPads is confusing. Even an M1 would work.
Maybe digital picture frame.I still have the first iPad mini … gathering dust. Trying to figure out what I can still use it for effectively. Sluggish so my kids won’t game on it versus their Gen 9s IP.
I’m open to suggestions!
i am using iPad mini 6 for three years (now wife is using it), never noticed the jelly scroll. YMMV thoughBack in the day… I was planning on getting an iPad mini 6 and was excited about it — until I saw the Jelly Scroll. No iPad mini for me.
Maybe this next one will be better.
true. Wife bought Kindle Paperweight, but still keeps Mini 6 because it is much more versatile.Work issues me a Mini and it's honestly a fantastic e-Reader.
Final Cut Pro and those AAA games come to mind. But you’re right on the thermal management. Just because the new iPad mini could run those apps and games, doesn’t mean it’ll be a good experience.Which apps only run on M chips?
Really? No stock shortages in Australia or many US and European stores.Supplies of the sixth-generation iPad mini are dwindling at "many" Apple retail stores
Won’t be called A17 Pro because that’s being manufactured on the N3B node process which is being phased out soon. Unless Apple wants to continue using the more expensive N3B process which I wouldn’t expect given how much nicer that cheaper N3E process must look to Tim. Now it’s possible that Apple will call a variant manufactured on the new cheaper N3E node process A17 to differentiate it from the A18 used for the 16/16 Plus and the A18 Pro used for the 16 Pro/16 Pro Max in some way. That would be a little confusing and I would fail to see the logic in Apple choosing that naming path.![]()
Chip Details of 16 Upcoming Apple Devices Revealed
The chip details of 16 new Apple devices have been discovered, according to technical information posted on X earlier today by a private account with...www.macrumors.com
Eight unreleased Apple devices with the A14 Bionic, A17 Pro, and M2 chips were among the list of chip identifiers (CPIDs). There are two upcoming A14 Bionic and A17 Pro devices, and four upcoming M2 devices. MacRumors believes they relate to the following products:
- A14 Bionic: iPad (11th-generation) in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations. The model number does not correlate to what the iPad (11th-generation) is expected to have, so it may be a modified iPad (10th-generation) in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations instead, or potentially a HomePod with a display.
- A17: iPad mini (seventh-generation) in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations. This may be the A17 Pro chip or an A17 variant.
- M2: iPad Air (sixth-generation) in 10.9- and 12.9-inch display sizes and in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations.
I don’t see any indications that stock of the current iPad mini is dwindling. Almost all Apple Stores in my area (NYC Metro) have them in stock, only one doesn’t. Amazon, Best Buy, Target, etc - all in stock. Looks like we have a nothing burger here.Really? No stock shortages in Australia or many US and European stores.
Are you getting your info from the guy that swore black and blue the announcement was going to be Sep 10? 🤦♂️
Where are you going to hold the device, if there are no bezels? That's one of the difficulties I had with the iPad mini 6th gen—the bezels already felt slim enough. It's fine to get rid of the bezels if you're just using it to watch videos or perhaps to read e-books, but I felt much more comfortable with the 5th gen. bezels than the 6th. Personal preference.Shrink the massive bezels please.
What were her complaints about the Kindle?Got the wife a Kindle about a year ago... She reads a ton of books... after about 5 days "Send it back, I'll go back to the mini"

Seams likely.or could it be that Apple will surprise us and introduce a foldable iPhone, that turns into an iPad mini unfolded???

Base line architecture is more important so an A17 Pro (3nm base for M3) is a more advanced processor than the M2 (A15 based 5nm) for instance.
This. Please give it an A18.Why give it a 17 pro chip can’t they just give it a A18 like the iPhone 16 lineup?
