It'll certainly not be as sharp as the retina iPads but it has different benefits in that it's not as big and heavy (relatively). I personally find the full size iPad too big for my needs. I have an 11" Air for serious portable stuff. I'm using a Nexus 7 just now which has a really good screen - classed as retina depending on how you calculate it. The iPad Mini using the same basis is 76% retina. Link below.

So, still 'prepping for shipment' here. Anyone know if they are distributing the same as the iPhone 5 in the UK, i.e they have the stock here already and will use UKMail again? My Macbook was shipped from China back in July.
 
Sorry if this has already been covered but has it been confirmed whether non-Apple retail stores e.g. Currys/ PCWorld will be stocking these on launch day?

Currys definitely aren't, they are ignorant as well, I asked in store this morning, and they said the Mini will be out by Christmas, and then tried to sell me the "new iPad" as the newest release.

So, ignorant or devious? But unless they haven't told their staff, no stock at PC World Currys for the launch.
 
Anyone order a white one that is preparing for shipment?

I am guessing not as it looks like apple mucked up with the supply of these:(
 
I am downgrading from iPad 3. My brother has bought that off me. Reason being i commute on bus and train to work at ungodly hours ( damn nursing) and using the iPad is uncomfortable after a while on a busy train and bus. So iPad mini will be perfect for me. I ordered Black 16GB wifi with a green smart cover and its to be delivered on Friday.

Bit of a Apple week for me in all directions, i have a iPhone first generation from eBay on its way to me. In good condition apart from a couple of dead pixels... £50. Bargain. Will use it as my holiday phone when i go to Dubai, don't wanna take my iPhone 5 on the beach really! And as an iPod touch. Gonna be a good week.
 
I'm in France and it still shows as preparing for shipment .

The smart cover , ordered separately ,was shipped yesterday from the Netherlands (as point of origin ) through DHL and is being delivered today.

I wonder if it will be the same for the iPad minis ?

Yeah, I hope/suspect that this is the case.

Mine's been 'preparing for dispatch' since Saturday morning.
 
I'm not too concerned as this has happened with Apple store purchases a lot for me but --- has anyone else got "preparing for shipment" and not yet got an order confirmation email ? As I recall I've had much later confirmation emails or indeed no email at all when ordering ipads and iphones before. Still got the device though, on launch day, as promised.

There were no white models available at preorder, my suspicion is that Apple UK only got a black allocation.

I suspect any white orders could still be in the factory and probably susceptible to having the order date slide if they are coming via the Americas with the windy weather they are currently experiencing.
 
Wondering whether i have made a mistake in ordering a white 4G ipad mini...

I am definitely happy to wait until the 4Gs are ready to get the ipad i want (not getting a wifi just because its out a month earlier that's silly) but the only reason i went for white was because of "scuffgate".

Maybe the 4G whites will also be delayed. Doh!

As an update, I emailed John Lewis to ask, they don't seem to have a release date yet either.

Same as with the iPhone 5 and same in Canada. As you said, they'll be shipped in bulk pallets to a central warehouse and then overnighted to their final destination on Thursday.
 
I missed the rush and got a 14th expected delivery :rolleyes: never mind, I can wait. (Will have to)
 
My white 16gb delivers 15th November after ordering at 8.01am, may try and pick one up on Friday or over weekend but no probs if i cant, will just wait for once!!, really looking forward to getting my hands on this device, just think it will suit my needs perfect due to size etc, plan to tether to my one plan with three on my iphone 5, sold my ipad 3 last week which was just a bit heavy for constant use, i was mainly using to run catchup tv to my apple tv in the bedroom at night, which by the way works very well:D
