I will believe it when I see it - i have been jonesing for one of these since the 2018 pro came out, and an iPad Air style mini is an instant buy for me. It would fit into my work flow very nicely.

Absolutely loved my first iPad mini. I upgraded to the original iPad Pro (and have loved it), but I defiantly miss the size of the mini. It was perfect for video and reading—even in bed since it was so light—and served as a great notepad for school and work. If it's got the same-ish footprint as the current mini and includes Apple Pencil 2 support, I'll likely nab one.

Been waiting a long time for an updated Mini and finally some light at the end of the tunnel. Very pleased to see it finally in sight. I know this sounds crazy but the thing love about the Mini is that it's mini, and now with the larger screen size it loses a bit of that appeal even though the overall physical size is the same.

The render looks like is still has a bit of a bezel but it's nice to have a portion of the front that you can hold comfortably without thumbs on the screen portion. A 1/2" bezel is fine with me.

I would love the same design as the iPad Pro (without all the features) but that's not what this article suggest they are doing. It says smaller bezels, then they are testing a design that does away with the Home button. If it had a similar design as the iPad Air/Pro they would not need to test other designs that remove the home button.

The mini isn't good for anything. It is too small to be an iPad and too large to be an iPhone.
I take it that you've never own a Mini before?

Those who love the Mini, like myself, don't see it as a compromised gadget but one that does things better than a larger iPad or a smaller iPhone.

I would gladly pay $499 for an iPad Mini that is basically a smaller Air 4.

Well your take is wrong.

The iPad mini has been on the verge of discontinuation since the day it was first produced. Receiving the fewest updates of any iPad. It just barely justifies its own existence, which is the only reason why it still has one. It is much like iPhone mini which is likewise a product Apple was pressured to make by loud whining voices, who failed to materialize into a market. If not for the fact that the design was a 2 year bet there wouldn't even be an iPhone 13 mini, but there will be, and after that it will fade away.

I'll believe this one when I see it. It may be that some aspect of the R&D that went into making the new iPad Air has enabled them to make a new mini for a low cost, but again, I'll believe it when I see it. Near worthless product that isn't good at anything.

On the iPad Mini 6, I believe it when it is release. Rumor has it in 2022, not end the year! Since Apple does not update the Mini for 6 year cycle, maybe Apple will give it an OLED screen instead of a mini LED and 8GB RAM and M1 SoC and call it a Pro!

My take, as in, my personal opinion? I'm so confused by your statement haha

I didn't make a justification why Apple should keep the product or why it needs to exist for Apple financially. I just said why I like it and why others will purchase it..

And by your lack of admission, it seems you've never owned a Mini, therefore, can't really argue why I would like it so much.

The guy that you responded too just said he loved it and your reply to him is that he is wrong.

We all know Apple prefer to put energy on blockbuster hits and just does not care about making products that would make a lot of peoples happy (15 inch MacBook Air anyone?).

I was hoping it would be the same size screen but a smaller physical package, oh well. It's kind of moot as my Fold 2 has supplanted my ipad mini, but I still like looking.
