I'll get mine on Tuesday so ill let you know it doesn't seem like it though. i watched a video on you-tube and he didn't have too. but it is definitely month to month. i double checked and asked during my order. so i can cancel whenever with any termination fee. :)

Upon the initial set up it does require that proceedure but only once. After the initial set up, nothing is required, it'll automatically connect. :)

I like the way AT&T does it mechanically. No fees to start or stop. Pay for a bucket of bandwidth and if you need more, buy more which starts that day. I guess there are no rollover megabytes, which would be a large improvement. At least you would have them if you needed them since you didn't use them.

Virgin resells the Sprint network which IIRC roams on Verizon as well. They only have 3G in LA, but coverage is wider than other offerings including mountain and desert communities. Their device is sold out online but retailers like RS, BB, WM have them. $40/mo unlimited, no contract.

It costs $35 every time you cancel Verizons month to month plan to hook up again after you drop it for a month.

Yeah, that's the biggest downside of Verizon's plans. I only need 3G data when I travel about 4 or 5 times per year. If I went with Verizon, I would have to either continue to pay for the months I don't need service or terminate and pay $35 to activate it again when I need service again.

That's why I'm sticking with my VirginMobile MiFi. $40 a month for unlimited data. No activation fees. Just add $40 when I need it. I did have a problem with speed when I was in Denver, but I'm willing to give up coverage/speed to save a lot of money.
