In that case buddy consider yourself lucky. Trust me, if you have dead pixels, you don't have look for them..they look at you and its pretty annoying.

In Russia, dead pixels look at YOU!

Sorry, couldn't resist... :)

Sold my 5th iPad today. Will wait until Apple release it over here before I buy a new one, or... maybe wait until iPad 2 before I buy.

I'm fine with my new iPhone 4 that I got today. No dead pixels, no dust particles under the screen or yellow tint/issue.

Why would you order one from Germany? Nothing special about them there? And they've been out there for a good few months..

EDIT: I too don't believe this.. Why would you sell it when you'd be covered under warranty..

I agree, I find this king of weird, mine works fine and came out fin since the beginning.

I would also add that my first two (and only) iPads were defective, but my last three iPhones have been flawless.

My first iPhone had a small, half-centimeter horizontal strip across the screen that stopped responding to touch. This was the first-gen. My iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 were all flawless. No dust, no dead pixels. My 3G did develop a dead pixel, but it was probably something I did. My iPhone 4 is still flawless after nearly 3 months.

But like I mentioned, my first iPad had a dead pixel and dust under the screen, and my second iPad (which I currently have) had a stuck pixel out of the box, it's always purple. So I can't say from my experience or even from other's that there's a quality control issue, since there's probably more people reporting issues than there are saying "Mine's flawless", but given my own history, it does seem like there are slight errors with the screen.

We have bought 3 iPads of various configs 32GB, 64GB wifi only + 64+3G and all of them are perfect with no issues.

That's not to say you can't be unfortunate and strike it bad - but I don't think its necessarily indicative of the whole.

ive dealt with similar problems

I'm also on my 5th iPad. These things are manufactured under a lot of dust. All you need to do is wipe your screen clean and use a flash light and you can find a lot of dust underneath your screen. This is quite common and this is very poor manufacturing on Apple's part or should I say Foxconn.

My iPad screen got scratched. I baby this thing around so much, and yet it got scratched. I dont even know how it happened.

Any chance they will replace it?

I agree that the QC is an issue.

First Ipad had a great screen but loose home key that felt like it was going to fall off. Second had a terrible screen with a dark yellow tint and very dim backlighting. Third had the yellow tint issue and a bulge on the back.

My forth, and final, is perfect without backlit bleed, dead pixels, dust, etc. It's a shame it took so long to find one.

I can't post pictures of 5 iPads because I only hade one iPad at a time.

So it's my fault that Apple ships units with dead pixels, dust particles under the screen and yellow screen issues? Yeah, right!

I can post pictures tomorrow on my dead pixel and the dust particles under the screen, when I have access to a better camera.

The only thing we are saying you are at fault for is making up an unbelievable story!

Then belive this

Well, belive it or not, I am now on my 5th iPad also, and are returning it monday.

1th. Major backlight bleed issue
2th. Scratch in lower right corner
3th. Bright pixel in center of screen, and vertical line in top of screen
4th. One dead pixel in center of screen
5th. Some assembly idiot put his thumbmark on the screen behind the glass cover, or it is some metal smudge, can't realy tell

Maybe all us idiots crave the product so fast that apple can't keep up, and downgrade the quality control.

You want pictures, why ? - I don't care if you belive it or not. But if all people checked their product properly, many more would be returned, and apple would have to do a better quality control.

This should be the number one gadget, and when I pay this much for a product, I don't want to see any of the above problems. One product with an error can happen, 2 more rearely is ok. But how can I be so unlucky to get five iPAd's with problems, well that seems to me, that luck has nothing to do with it, but to many iPads come out of the assembly line of poor quality.

I will try one last time to get it exchanged. Fortunally I live in a country where we have 14 days return policy. And the last four got returned the same day, as they where bought. What a waste of saturday.

To Be Continued...

Some serious OCD cases on display in this thread.

I have a single dead pixel on my device and it's quite a party pooper when I notice it during movies. It kills the experience. It's kind of OCD, but then again, most people seem to suffer from it so maybe we need another condition where people don't care as much? :D

Anyway, yeah, I had a dead pixel on my iPhone 4 and it was enough to piss me off.

I've had 2 faulty iPhones, and as for calling the guy an apple hater because he pointed out a bad experience with them....

Wow.

Isolated issue.

If it's a widespread problem it would have been covered by the media.

My iPad is perfect.

Weird. Sorry for you. Mine is and has been perfect throughout. Could not be more amazed by it. Good luck.

Well the iMac yellow screen is a massive problem, but I've never seen any articles in the normal media about it.

If you google there is page after page of yellow tint issues, going back across various models and revisions.

Hi Again

Well, today I am going to write a letter to Apple, if that is even possible for us "simple" people. But if we/I expect Apple to fix a generel problem, one have to let them know that such a thing even exist.

If all we/I do is complain on several forums, well how can we/I expect Apple to do anything, they have to lean about the problem, and we/I can't expect them to look around on the net, to see if people are happy or not with their product.

I think the case here is that you bought graded b several times, it is really much better to purchase a gadget on local stores than ordering one online.

No way

First of all, all my iPads was bought in local stores in Denmark. We don't have apple stores here, only resellers.

All the iPads I bought was packed, as they were never used. So the only option for Grade B, is if Apple have such a thing, and wanted to ship all imperfect products to Denmark ;o).

Second, what would the odds be that every iPad I bought was an exchanged "Grade-B" Product ? If that were true, to many people would have sent their iPad back, and why would they do that if the product was OK ?, and if the product was OK, but they just not wanted it, and therefore sent it back, then I would not care if it had already been opend, as long as the product was ok.

So we can speculate all we want, that does not remove the fact, that I was able to get 5 bad iPads.

P.S. I have now sent a letter to Apple, but I don't think they care that much ;o) - But then I have at least tried.

Low quality yellow tinted display on replacement iPad

I got my iPad replaced at the Apple Store due to intermittent issues with the Home Button.
I have checked the replacement unit for dust and dead pixels, but I didn't noticed until last night that the display doesn't seem bright enough (and the brightness control doesn't have as many low brightness levels as my original iPad) and also seems to have a yellow tint. It seems like a low quality display, unlike my original iPad, which showed white colors as white.
I use my iPad to read in the dark, reason why I noticed the difference quickly.
I definitely notice that this new display is of an inferior quality as my original iPad.

So I do believe when other people claim to have this problem. Now the question is how to solve it.

It is called OCD.

You comments sound like you are trying to convince yourself that you new pad is bad! LOL!

My iPad has a pink stuck pixel. Annoys me when I see it, but most of the time I don't.

A friend's iPad has a dead pixel. Doesn't seem that uncommon for iPads to have screen defects.

I am a apple nut, I've had 3 iPads and. 11.6 MBA and a 17" pro just this year, none had a dead pixel nor any other problem.
Oh that's in all the years have owned them not just this year.
