It is called OCD.

You comments sound like you are trying to convince yourself that you new pad is bad! LOL!

WTH! Why would I do something like that??? I was happy to get a replacement so the Home Button problem would be fixed, but I didn't expect this.
There's something wrong with the display, period. Apple support asked me to Restore it, hopefully that would fix.
Over the years, several products like notebooks, iMacs, etc., have had this kind of problems when the display white background is not white. Sometimes it's caused by the backlight being a fluorescent tube; in other cases, a manufacturing defect. Considering that Apple had to expand its iPad parts suppliers to meet demand, this display could have come from a lower quality display manufacturer.

I've placed my iPad side to side with another one, and the difference is noticeable.

I am a apple nut, I've had 3 iPads and. 11.6 MBA and a 17" pro just this year, none had a dead pixel nor any other problem.
Oh that's in all the years have owned them not just this year.

Well, based on my previous experience with Apple products, I wasn't expecting this problem either. I got my iPad back in July, there's a chance the newer batches have an inferior display, or just simply a display made by another manufacturer.
Unless you had the original display to compare with, you wouldn't know the difference.
I have read a while back about people complaining about poor display quality on the iPad, and because I didn't have that problem, I thought they were just making it up. Well, I'm not.

My iPad has a pink stuck pixel. Annoys me when I see it, but most of the time I don't.

A friend's iPad has a dead pixel. Doesn't seem that uncommon for iPads to have screen defects.

I agree. I don't see why this has to be lie.
I have a dead pixel on my iPhone 3G and my 4.

Here's my list of displays purchased in the last 5 or so years

Samsung 19"
Samsung 19"
Samsung 22"
Samsung 24"
Dell 24"
10" Netbook
12.1" Notebook
15.6" Gaming Notebook
5 iPads
3 iPhones

Only one that has EVER had a dead/stuck pixel was 1 of my 2 Samsung 19"s

Well, I talked to Apple and they setup an appointment at the Apple Store. Hopefully they still have my old iPad, so I could show them side to side the difference. Hopefully this is an isolated case. iPad displays use LED Backlights, so this problem shouldn't be happening.
I'll report back later tonight.
Just make it clear that I'm not making this up.

My original iPad had two specks of dust inside, only visible when the iPad was turned off and viewed in certain angle. I didn't really care for that, as it wasn't noticeable when the iPad was ON. But this yellow tinted display problem is troublesome, as it decreases contrast, changing the whole reading experience.

Anyways, I should be getting an iPad 2 when it comes out, but plan to keep this one in the family too. We'll see.

Why do people think that their experience is the same as everyone else's?

"My computer has never had that problem, therefore you can't be telling the truth and you're an Apple hater".

Kinda ignorant thinking really.

One thing I really hate are fanboys. No matter how much proof or what you say you'll have to argue your point otherwise they'll say you're making things up because Apple never make bad things. Not only that, they turn it around and blame you for the thing being bad.
Every single Apple I purchased such as the Iphone 2G, Iphone 3GS, and Ipad had issues! The first iphone 2G was purchased online line through Apple and it had dead pixels. I went to the Apple store and got a new one and this one had backlight leakage. They offered to keep exchanging until a good one was found but I opted for my refund.
The iphone 3GS I pre-ordered from AT&T and the screen on this one was yellow! Why is the screen yellow? That is not a feature Apple! Neutral colors are not neutral when there's yellow in it. I took this iphone 3gs to the apple store and they gave me a refurb. This one was yellow too but not as much but it also over heated. I restored the phone hoping it would fix it but it did not. I took it to the Genius bar and had to argue with them and at the end they would not do anything until it over heated again. And that it did and I took it back and they exchanged it.
The ipad had a total of 6 light leakage around the screen. How did I ever see this? I was watching netflix in the dark right before bed and I thought what the hell was this? I took it to the apple store and they exchanged it. It was nice not having to argue your point that there is something wrong with it for once. I received a refurb for the 2 day old ipad. I wish Apple would really exchange for a new one even if it was not purchased from the Apple store. All these things that are purchased from retail stores should also carry the same exchange policy as if it were purchased from Apple. After all it is their products.

I went through 4 ipads that had dust, dirt, pixel issues. I was so pissed because I just wanted one with no screen flaws.

It also took me 3 tries on my 27" iMac so if you think that Apple doesn't have a few issues I think you aren't being honest.

My wife's 3Gs is so yellow I can't even stand to look at it. That one I purchased from ATT and apple wouldn't exchange it (even though they said it was way to yellow). I will never purchase anything from ATT again and will never leave an apple store without looking at my product first.

this is true.
i had one myself when it was first launched. it was a beauty.
when i bought one for a friend like a few month ago (oct), i was stunned by the fact that there were dust under the screen.
we went over like 4 changes, before we declared that yea, the problem is inherent for the latest ipads. (batch issues?)
