My Khomo with twill finish is arriving today. Excited to get my new 10.5” IPP better protected.

While the look is so slick, unfortunately the products aesthetics are as well, and I’ve come to actually prefer my iPads in a case.

I'm waiting for Zagg to televise their slim keyboard for iPad 10.5"

It's just a waiting game now but it has been 2 weeks, hopefully their now building units
Looking at the reviews (sorted low to high), many people are complaining about the durability of the hinge (at least on the 9.7 iPad Pro model. Looking at it, I see it definitely looks nice and the added battery will prolong the iPad's usefulness but I wonder how much weight it will add on. I like my iPad Pro

I ordered the ICEO SmartCase from a german Shop - looks promising, being a look-a-like of the original ipad air 2 smart case which covers Front and Back. Unfortunately made out of PU Leather, not real Leather.

Already shipped, will probably receive it tomorrow.

cheers

Just got my iPad Pro 10.5" smart case from eBay (UK). It is pretty good, excellent fit just a few creases on the corners, but for £10 delivered I can't complain too much. Definitely my preferred style of case.

That looks nice. How are the cutouts? Does it have sleep/wake functionality, and a strong magnet?

The cutouts are very accurate, yes the sleep wake works perfectly and it is nicely lined (same as on the cover). The magnet is just strong enough to hold the cover in place if you turn it upside down, but if you were to shake it a bit the cover would open. On the whole I am very pleased - just don't understand why Apple stopped making these.

Just received this email re my i-blason back case order:

Thank you for placing your order at our i-Blason Amazon store.

Unfortunately we have identified that there is an issue with the iPadPro2017-10.5-Keyboard-Black cases you have purchased, so we have taken the decision to cancel your order.

Our design team are already rectifying the issue and we would hope to have a update version of iPadPro2017-10.5-Keyboard-Black case available on our Amazon Store within 2 - 3 weeks.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that has been caused.

Kind regards,
i-blason.com
Thats the last thing I wanted to hear when mine was supposed to ship out today. I haven't gotten an email yet but if I go back to the Amazon listing it now says 'currently unavailable'.

The more I think about this, the less I'm bothered by the adhesive strip, yet two other things came to my mind. First the elastic that keeps the case closed. I can see that stretching over time and being less useful in keeping the pencil in place.

Secondly, I don't think the contega has any magnets to automatically wake or sleep the iPad when the case is opened or closed.
I think you are probably correct with those concerns.

I'm thinking of adding an additional pen loop.

There are also lots of solutions to add a clip to the Apple pencil as well. I think between the two you should be able to come up with a little more secure solution.

I had the 9.7" Zagg Slim Keyboard and found that the main issue was in fact the strength of the magnet, it could have been stronger but then I adjusted to it. I thought it was fine to be fair

What DID impress me with Zagg was their customer support

I only purchased the keyboard direct from Zagg 2 months ago, and I explained that to the rep. She said I could send the old one in for full credit and they will discount that from the 10.5" when it's released. Absolutely fantastic service :)

IF the magnets on the cover are decent, you could use one of those magnetic sleeves on the pencil. I use one to stick it to my ASC and ASK. Works well

Has anyone else received the JETech case with fully open speaker cutouts? Saw some reviews with precise holes for the speakers. Didn’t know if they changed the design recently bc mine came with full cutouts

KHOMO just arrived at earliest projected date.

Quick thoughts:

  • The edges of the back cover are raised above the chamfered edges and the screen. Not to the level of Apple's silicone 9.7 case, but pretty good.
  • The back cover thickness protects the camera lens
  • The cutouts are perfect, except around the camera where it's not perfectly centered -- we're talking mm off, no functional issues at all
  • The rubberized back is much more "slippery" than Apple silicone back cover for 9.7. With the Apple, I'd have difficulty sliding the iPad across the top of my TV tray (flat wood). The KHOMO is in between but closer to a leather/plastic back than it is to Apple's silicone material as far as tackiness
  • Sleep/wake works
  • Front cover has a bit more thickness/sturdiness than prior years Amazon sourced inexpensive iPad cases(Roark,JETech)
  • Front cover does not hang over the volume button side of the iPad, making it somewhat difficult to open it without moving to the top or bottom to lift it. Magnets are good.
  • Has open slots for the speakers vs drilled holes, a positive if you think volume might be a bit low on the 10.5
  • No covered buttons/switches, so you're not pressing through a case to activate anything
  • Inside cover material is suitably soft
  • No logos on the outside of the case

Thanks! Is it worth getting the KHOMO rear shell and using a Apple Smart Cover or is the case you got good enough where that’s not necessary.

If you could post a couple photos that would be awesome!

Yes, mine took two weeks. I did also order another colour from a different seller, supposed to be first class delivery and 8 days later I get a folio case, completely not what I ordered...

I'm freaking out at that big ol' handle thing that's on the inside of the cover and will come in contact with the screen.

The middle part of that strap is the nice soft interior material. The other is just some elastic. You'd have to press pretty hard on the closed cover to possibly touch the screen with the elastic - even then, it would be pretty tough to scratch the screen with that!

Anyone heard of Moko?

Genuine Slim Stand Magnet Leather Cover Smart Case For Apple iPad Pro 10.5 inch

Looks like it - I imagine they are all from the same p,ace, just different sellers :) really pleased with the fit, no movement, just sits proud of the screen and looks really good!

I ordered one of those today based on your experience. Thanks for posting that!

By the way, what's the material on the inside of the body portion (up against iPad body)? it is a fabric/leather or a plastic?
