I preordered the pad and quill oxford. Super expensive when shipped to Australia, but hey my iPad costs more than au $1300' so whatever. Will be interesting to see the 3m tape sturdiness.

I got my "Smart case" from eBay today - Really love the look. Feels nice and is very thin. The magnet is not very stock, barely stays closed when held upside down. The sleep/wake only works about 5% of the time though.

For reference this was the eBay (US) listing I used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Sli...ase-For-Apple-iPad-Pro-10-5-inch/302350251655
I'm really hoping you got a defective one. I was planning to upgrade from Khomo to this Apple Smart Case, but only 5% smarts is a deal breaker.

I got my i-Blason case from amazon today...and like so many other cases, it does not have enough of a cut out for a smart Cover to work. So frustrating. Have we found any back covers that are decent and do have the proper cut out for a smart cover? Please point me in the right direction.

What did you end up doing about this? I had the exact same problem. It specifically said that it would be compatible with the Apple Smart Keyboard. Did you return it, did they give you a new one? It seems that there are new postings popping up from the same company with the same case, as if they’ve resolved the problem but don’t want people to see the bad reviews.

Here is a link for anyone who may be in the same boat. If so, what did you do? Seems like a great case, just wish it worked with the keyboard.

Currently unavailable. They probably pulled it to work out the issue.

Got word from Torro cases their iPad Pro 10.5 cases will be out in a week or so.

She wouldn't give anymore info but I would presume they look something like the normal iPad ones in the below link

https://www.torrocases.co.uk/collections/ipad-2017

Their phone cases are top quality also if you like the full wallet style cases. I've bought a few as gifts and had no complaints, good amazon reviews also.

Got mine. 2 problems.

First is a defect. Deep V in the part of the cover above lightning port (thin strip).

Other is the cover for the power button must be off with tolerances. When you shift your iPad in your hands anywhere near the corner but not over button, it keeps turning the iPad screen off and on. Very annoying.

Description says leather which it definitely isn't. I'm ok with that. Found the Apple poly cases hold up better than the leather.

Seller has not been responsive so may have to escalate with eBay for resolution.

In the meantime I'm happy w my Khomo Dual Carbon case. Though I really want to like this one.

They fixed something that wasn't broken. Should have never have gotten rid of the Air 2 leather case.

  • Couldn't agree more! I just picked up my iPad today 10.5 inch today, and am pretty disappointed by the lack of options out there. I am looking at picking up the case by Pad and Quill with the pencil holder, but after dropping roughly 1,300 dollars on a new iPad, Smart Keyboard, and Apple Pencil not sure how much more money I want to spend.

It's all a price hike (+ middle finger from Apple) by stealth.

The air 2 leather case was generally quite successful and popular, there's no doubt about that.

Then the iPad pros rolled around.

Apple decided, we know the public loved our iPad Air 2 case that much. I'm sure we'll do great if we cut the case in two, and then charge the same high prices for each half. Customers love them, they'll pay for it! Mwuahaha

Except now if you actually go and read reviews on apples own website about the 9.7 pro Smart Cover and Smart case, you'll see reviewers actually gave them so much hate for being almost 2x expensive as the leather case. And that's actually fair. There was NO reason to get rid of the leather Smart case.

Now it's 2017. Apple reflects back on these reviews and responds by being like, ok, people didn't like the smart case and Smart Cover combo? No? Ok we will respond by getting rid of one of them for good. And an overpriced leather sleeve that no one asked for. The leather sleeve looks good no doubt but I can't help but feel it was designed in the way Apple actually wants you to drop your iPad (ie it doesn't protect when you're using the device itself) so you shell out more $$$$$

Bad move Apple. As for the Smart Cover being offered by itself, that's a joke. It is literally useless without an accompanying Smart Case. Learn from your mistake, Apple. It's not too late to release a proper first party case.

The reason they got rid of the smart case is because of the (useless) smart connector.

That people may or may not use? I don't. I have the pencil though and that's good enough for my needs, Apple still should have included it anyway....and if that's so, why is there no Smart case for the 2017 iPad?

Too bad Apple, I love my 9.7 Silicone Case, you've actually given me an incentive to stick with it!

I've had one with a V which was annoying, but the seller replaced it (not for that but because one set of speaker holes were completely in the wrong place due to a manufacturing error), also had the issue with the on/off button, but found if you remove the ipad and kind of push the button from the inside it loosens and then works perfectly (like it hasn't been pushed out properly in the first place).

I ordered the keyboard case to come with my iPad Pro 10.5 and couldn’t stand to have the back bare. I also decided against ordering the Khomo, i think it was, from the US as the shipping fees were hefty. So I ordered a generic transparent case from eBay. I mixed and matched for a few days...

But today I took a Stanley knife to the TPU case and cut out a side notch where the Smart Connector goes. Now both work together.

Of course, this is a hack, and my line isn’t completely straight. But I feel better having the back protected.

One point about compatibility that I haven’t seen mentioned...
For true compatibility, that Smart Keyboard, when folded back behind the iPad for keyboard-less use, needs to magnetically fix against the iPad rear. This can happen when no back case is used, but the additional material of my TPU case makes the magnet force too weak, and the keyboard falls away again.

I got a quick refund from the seller. I ordered another from a different seller just in case... even though I'm sure they're all from the same manufacturer. I'll update here when I get it about how it performs.

Got the fake Smart Case in today and its going right back. Magnet is so weak its pretty much non existent. Can't even keep the iPad propped up if you need to touch the screen. It falls right over.

I've bought 2 different cases for my wife. Both absolute junk. The CTSing and the MoKo. Can't believe it's so hard to find a quality case that doesn't cost $50+.

I have had the Kavaj Berlin case (not the London case) on several iPads. Sadly, Kavaj said in an email that they will not be producing the Berlin case for the 10.5.

That is a shame, I don't like the full on 'sales executive' look of the London.

I've had Kavaj iPhone cases before though and they were very nice.

I linked it earlier but I think the torro case offerings will be my best bet. They look good and the I know their iPhone cases are good too.

Let's hope they don't rip the arse out of it price wise or do something stupid and not put magnets in the lid... like some companies.

I ended up returning it and got a Khomo back cover which fits and works perfectly. But then I saw the MoKo clear back that has really good reviews so I got that as well since I really like the idea of a clear back to see my iPad. I still have both and like them both a lot. I can’t decide which one I want to keep but since they were so cheap I may keep both.
