I have the same ESR case (clear version). Yes, it is a pity they don't release the hybrid (TPU edge with polycarbonate back) version for iPad Pro 10.5" yet as I was looking for it.

It's a stylish case with good details. Perfect fit and alignment, ease of removal and insertion, low price and a reputable brand name (in China) are the reasons I keep this case.

I also appreciate the product is still in a box packaging (as they value their brand) rather than what its competitors do by just throwing the product in a plastic bag with foam.

One gripe -- the rear camera cutout is too shallow to protect the camera lens from dirts. It is flushed with the camera lens to achieve the 10mm slimness.

Meanwhile, there is nothing else in the market except the Tech21 Clear Impact case which is a hybrid case. Regardless of the price, the Tech21 Clear Impact case has one weakness I couldn't accept-- the edges are very hard on the iPad. I bought one and I didn't bother completing the process of putting the entire iPad inside. I tried 3 corners and had a bad feeling down the road the edges (despite it is TPU but it is a very hard one) will mar the edges of my iPad. Also it will probably be incompatible with some tempered glass (the one that go very aggressively to the very edges of the glass of the iPad. So I returned it.

The Tech21 case deserves a higher price tag because of the way they design the edges of the case. Upon closer look, you will see their patented ridges inside the edges which I am sure it has very good bump protection. There seems to be some clear protection film applied inside the edges of the case.

For anyone who may consider both cases --- ESR back case weighs 74g. Tech21 Clear Impact for iPad pro 10.5" weighs 83g without pencil holder and 96g with pencil holder.

Here is an update -- about the rear camera cutout not deep enough for the ESR case. I just noticed the camera lens would not touch any hard and level surface beneath it because of the slightly raised ridge on the other longer side of the iPad (where the slightly soft black material resides). ESR does think about it but the design is on the dangerous side for the sake of achieving the slim profile by mm. Still this hard case is suitable for only very minor bump protection. The fact that this case has covers for all the buttons and the speaker grills makes up the weakness.

If ESR does make one hybrid case for iPad Pro 10.5" in near future, I would still go for it, though.

Hey guys, I saw many posts around this topic and like many I'm still looking for the closest feel of the Apple Silicone back cover (compatible with smart cover, which I have), which wasn't released by Apple for our 10.5 inch iPad Pro.
From what I saw you guys mentioning these were the best options I found:

A) https://khomoaccessories.com/produc...se-for-apple-ipad-pro-10-5-inch-midnight-blue
But again, people are saying that it's plastic and not silicone like what I'm looking for
A2) https://khomoaccessories.com/produc...inch-charcoal-gray-color-case-with-pen-holder

B) http://www.luvvitt.com/accessories/...-case-for-apple-ipad-pro-10-5-in-clear-1.html

C) https://www.apple.com/shop/product/HL7C2ZM/A/tech21-impact-clear-case-for-105-inch-ipad-pro?fnode=9a&fs=f=ipadpro_10_5&fh=4583%2B48d0

So the question is, which of these have the closest feel to the original Apple silicone back cover. I hate the plastic feel, love the silicone though.

Thanks in advance!

PS: There're people talking also well about the Poetic Lumos case 12.9, but I don't know if it's either silicone or plastic and they haven't released the 10.5inch version on their website yet.

I can share my hands on experience with the Tech21 Clear Impact case for iPad Pro 10.5".

When holding the iPad, the feel is not the same as the Apple silicone case for iPad Pro 9.7". It is a matte plastic fee that can be get used to after using it some time, particularly when you fold the Smart Cover to the back of the case and you are touching the microsuede surface which is quite soft.

I have returned the Tech21 case and went from a ESR back case and it has similar matte plastic feel when holding it. Already got used to it after a few days. The advantage is it doesn't attract lint easily. The downside is I won't put it on a hard surface. For silicone case, I wouldn't have the same kind of concern.

I wish I could tell you about my Pad & Quill Oxford leather case, but I ordered (and paid for) it three weeks ago (7/18) and they stated it would ship by the week of the 24th. Then the week of the 24th came and went, and P&Q promised to ship the week of the 31st. I called Thursday last week and they swore that it would ship no later the end of the day on Friday. I heard nothing and called P&Q today, and they tell me they have no idea when it'll ship.

I'm afraid this company has grown too big for its britches, and is in real trouble in terms of delivering their product anywhere near on time. Add that to taking payment weeks prior to shipment, and I am a very unhappy customer that will not likely return.

ETA: It finally shipped today, 8/8. I wouldn't expect to receive a new order in any less than 3 weeks, regardless of what their website says.

Well, just when I thought my issues with P&Q were over, on my last call with them they promised to upgrade shipping to 2-day to make up son some of their issues. That didn't happen either. I definitely will not order from them again.

I've looked through 20+ pages of products on Amazon, and I can't believe that I can't find anything that resembles the old Apple Smart Leather Cases that existed during the Air 2 era.

I had this one for my iPad Pro 9.7: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E15GIXC/

And it was amazing! Not real leather, not advertised as leather. But it had that leatherette feel, and it somehow felt ever so lightly better quality than the Apple Smart Leather Case I had on my Air 2 before it.

I'm looking for something very similar, or at least, a full case resembling a smart case, but with a microfiber/suede lining to protect the BACK of the iPad as well as on the back of the screen cover part.

Every Pro 10.5 case on Amazon I have seen is either a hard shell case that has no microfiber lining, or a soft TPU rubber case. Both get dirt trapped inside and both will leave the back scratched up. No good.

Does anyone have any recommendations for me?

Hmm... Look again. Several of us have purchased an Apple branded fake smart case on eBay. Mine is fantastic.

Swapped my Tech 21 Impact Clear case and it is way better. The cutouts are no longer offset as much. There is only a tiny scratch that is really only visible in a certain light, without the iPad in it. Altogether, quite happy.

I'd been waiting for the Khomo to show up on Amazon.ca from a Canadian seller, but ended up going with a Navy Blue StilGut Couverture, $70 CDN w free shipping:

https://www.amazon.ca/StilGut-Couve...2330288&sr=8-5&keywords=stilgut+ipad+pro+10.5

That's a link to the black one, can't find the blue one anymore, weird.

positives:
- quality leather (genuine, hand-stitched according to their web site) - smells good, exterior looks good
- soft interior with plastic edges. Won’t scratch the back of the iPad.
- easy to install and remove
- all buttons are accessible - I don’t like cases that cover the volume buttons, speakers or lighting port.
- cover folds into a small stand, but I have several iPad stands at work and home already.
- magnets work for sleep/wake feature, but could be stronger.
- accurate cutouts for camera and microphones
- fits in my Arkon stand for my treadmill

negatives:
- magnets are not very strong, but the sleep/wake works. Tends to flop open if you pick it up by the spine side/rear side up.
- adds some weight, I don't mind, but some might.
- hideous branding pattern on the inside of the cover
- higher price than I originally was looking for, but small price to pay to protect the iPad and meets all my requirements…much better deal than that Apple sleeve thing…woof.

My friend has the 2017 12.9" iPad Pro, he got the corresponding Stilgut case and likes it. It adds a lot of weight, but looks great. He also got a red Stilgut Pencil holder, looks nice with his black case. FWIW, he has a Khomo case on his older iPad Mini and loves it. I had the Apple Smart Cover on my previous iPad Air 1st Gen and liked it, but no rear protection.

Hope that helps, and thanks for this thread, it was very helpful to me.

This case thing is so complicated! Life would be much easier if they made Smart Case like they did for the 9.7" version. I have really watch my iPad when I have it out with the Smart Cover. It also slide off of my seat and onto concrete while at a race track a few days ago. Luckily there was a towel there to catch it.

Any drawbacks to the case you bought on eBay? Good fit? Good magnets? Any chance of dirt getting under the iPad?

Thanks!

I got the Tech21 a few weeks ago, and it ended up being the one I stuck with. I really don't think it's going to bang up the edges of the iPad. I uninstalled/reinstalled it a couple of times the day I got it just to see how difficult it would be and didn't find any damage--it's a very well engineered case, and I feel like they probably took the edges into consideration when creating it. I only say that because they seemed to take every other little detail into account on that case, and they claim on the box that the material will not damage the iPad when taking it off and putting it on. That being said, I don't plan on taking it off any more unless I sell the iPad. It's a struggle.

Some of you may remember from some of my other comments that the Luvvitt TPU case was my second favorite of the bunch I've tried, but that I had trouble with the corners fitting incorrectly and that their customer support promised to send me a redesigned unit in "a week or two". Well, sadly, that was well over 2 weeks ago, and I've heard nothing. I was hoping they'd send me a replacement so I could have it as a backup if anything ever happens to my Tech21 case. I think that's probably wishful thinking at this point.

This is going to sound pathetic, but I've tried almost every single case in your list (and returned most of them).

Khomo (the one with the Pencil holder): Came with lots of damage on the edges, the cloth back looked glued-on and not very durable, and there was a bow in the back that allowed lots of movement, and therefore space for grime to get inside the case. The one without the Pencil holder doesn't have a soft lining on the inside, so I didn't even bother with it.

Luvvitt: I got the TPU case with the keyboard compatibility. It's a really really awesome cover, but the corners on the top and bottom left by the keyboard cutout do not fit correctly and it's REALLY annoying and janky looking. As I said above, the Luvvitt support people promised me a "redesigned replacement in a week or two". That was quite awhile ago, and as I suspected, I've received nothing.

Poetic: Amazon has the 10.5" clear and gray versions with built in Pencil holder. Also had the promise to be a really nice case, but the back of it sticks to the Apple logo and looks really cheesy, and the side where the Pencil is stored is not sturdy and pops on and off of the side of the iPad a lot. I don't really mind that per se, but cases that move around a lot on the iPad tend to eventually scratch it as they rub on the same spot over and over again and trap dirt in the areas that have give.

Tech21: Unfortunately, this is the one I ended up deciding was the perfect one for me. I say unfortunately because it was so expensive and I blew a gift card on it that I had originally intended on using for a HomePod :). But either way, it's a super high quality case, fits perfectly, doesn't attract fingerprints, doesn't make the iPad bulky, and gives you the option to remove the Pencil holder, which I did immediately. (I do have the Apple Pencil and use it a lot, but I don't usually want it stuck on the side of my iPad.)

Thanks for your sharing your knowledge. Since you tried almost all, I have 2 questions:
1) which one has the best feel? I've been looking a similar feel of apple silicone cases but haven't found one yet.. (Is that so hard to replicate by the Chinese?!)
2) if Luvvitt made the redesign that fixed the corner issues you're mention would you prefer it over the tech21? Because if they have similar feels I would probably do that considering the price difference..

Thank you!

The Tech21 has the best feel to me by far. It's a very nice matte finish but manages not to collect fingerprints. If Luvvitt had gotten their case right in the first place I probably wouldn't have even tried the Tech21 but now I can't go back. It's just too nice!

This is the one that I've been looking at since I got my IPP. It offers protection while still showing what the back of the iPad looks like. I think it's time for me to stop into the Apple Store to pick one up.

Ultimately that's what I did too. Got sick of playing the Amazon lottery.

I have the apple leather cover and the khomo back with the pencil holder. The khomo back fits well, has a nice non-slippery texture, and came to me in good condition. I would trade it in for a decent leather back if one comes out, but for right now, it was the best of a bunch of mediocre choices for me.
I have the pad and quill oxford case on an ipad pro 9.7 - but it is bulkier and I wanted something slim and lighter. The leather and feel of the oxford case is nice and I might go to that eventually.

For those with the Tech 21 case, can you use a screen protector with it or does it wrap around the edge of the screen too much?

So are all new cases for the iPad 10.5 out or are we still waiting for some to be released ?

Moments after posting that message I realized what I said about Amazon is probably true only in regards to the European branches; as an example, the German Amazon has the "Cinema" cover for (the older, fits the new one too) iPad Pro 12,9" for 59€ at the moment and their phone covers regularly go as low as 15€.

The quality of their stuff is really high, up there with Vaja, loads better than Noreve and solar systems apart from the likes of Tetded, PDAir or Stilgut. There are some product reviews (and "reviews") available on Youtube. Never heard of counterfeit Piel Frama.
what was your negative experience with Tetded?

So are all new cases for the iPad 10.5 out or are we still waiting for some to be released ?
Just did a quick search on Amazon and it's basically all the same stuff that I've been seeing for the last few weeks. Not a whole lot of good third party options, in my opinion. I've never minded using a cheap TPU third party case, but the options seem to be exceptionally crappy this time around. As I said in some other posts, I have been really unimpressed with the quality control and fit on all the ones I've gotten from Amazon.

Are my expectations a little too high for $10 cases? Yeah, probably. But I thought the Luvvitt and the Poetic cases at least would be pretty close to a perfect fit and neither of them were. And I'm not sure why so many rave about the Khomo cases--the one I got seemed slapped together and rushed out the door. In the end I decided the only option I had left was to throw money at the problem and get the Tech21 at the Apple Store. I definitely don't regret it, but I would have been very happy with just using the TPU Luvvitt if they would have just made it so that it fit correctly.

Hi all!... my 10.5 pro is on its way and it should be here in few days. I also purchased the poetic lumos tpu case from amazon.

Im currently looking for smart cover that can be paired with the poetic lumos. I know apple is selling smart cover.

Any other smart cover brand for 10.5 pro and can be use with Poetic lumos?
THANKS!!

Is it looking like the Tech 21 is the best case around currently then?
You looking for drop protection or grip? Or something else? I don't need drop protection, and I find the Tech21 not comfortable to hold in tablet mode, especially in one hand.

Personally looking for something thats thinner to hold and provides grip. Currently considering the Vaja leather grip for 10.5, Tetded rear cover in leather, and also thinking about a simple dbrand skin which would practically provide the grip I'm looking for.
