Decided to order the KuGi ipad pro 10.5 ultra-thin Semi-transparent case. I saw it on one of my co workers ipad and it looks very nice.

I agree. People holding out for a 10.5-inch Silicone Case are whistling past the Apple graveyard. May it rest in peace with the Retina MacBook Air, G5 PowerBook, and probably the Mac mini.
I feel like with the Tech21 I at least got something comparable in quality and possibly even a little more protective than the Apple brand one. Also, I did always find that the Silcone Case from Apple would get kind of gross with fingerprints after a while and attracted dust and pet hair pretty easily. This Tech21 still hasn't gotten a smudge on it and I've been using it for a couple of weeks now. I thought the claim on the packaging that the matte finish was smudge resistant was BS, but it's absolutely not.

After waiting what seemed like forever, ESR released their back shell for the 10.5. Having owned this for my 9.7 I was well chuffed and ordered. Unfortunately, this version is just a hard shell... it's doesn't have the TPU rim which was so great abut the 9.7 version. This is made even more annoying due the the fact that the ESR case DOES have the hard back/TPU rim combo of the 9.7.

However, this ESR is much better than the moko hard clear back shell that I was using. The fit is perfect, so I think I will keep it anyway.

Just an update. I got my fake leather smart case (for 10.5") from eBay yesterday. Have to say this thing is great! I'm genuinely impressed with it. The sleep/wake is perfect. The cut is a little rough but no big deal at all. Has the Apple logo on the back. Even the packaging was just like Apple's iPad Air 2 smart case. For the price it's great. Hopefully it doesn't fall apart.

Only 2 issues are they sent me black instead of navy blue, and the headphone jack is too tight to fit headphones (I'm wireless now so not a huge deal). All the other cutouts are perfect.

Here's the one I ordered:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/For-iPad-5th-9-7-2017-iPad-Pro-10-5-Ultra-thin-Leather-Smart-Cover-Case-Pen/182627665060?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&var=485188379105&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I got my fake leather smart case last week and there was no sleep/wake button at the top, just flat leather. It made my iPad give me the turn off slider constantly.

Is it a big hassle to carry around a separate keyboard such as the Key's to go or would the smart keyboard be more convenient? The pairing and charging isn't an issue for me. I'm looking for the best functionality and convenience. I'm still deciding what to get.

This is the combo I'm considering:

Cheers, just read it :)
I'll probably replace it as soon as something better comes out. After using it a while longer the thing I dislike the most is the shiny clear back look and the fact that it's slippery. The edges are gripy, but I had set it on the back of the couch the other day like I always did with my old Apple leather smart case (best case ever) and it slipped off easily but fell onto carpet and the bumper edges protected it fine, bouncing it several times across the floor. I also didn't mention it in the original review but it seems a little thick/heavy but that might be because it's to be used with the smart keyboard. But I feel like even with the smart cover on it instead (I have both) it still feels a bit heavy/bulky. It's not overtly so and it's easy to remove the cover when just kicking back on the couch to reduce weight, but it's still slightly annoying. What I would love is a knockoff of the Apple leather smart case in charcoal or black that has a notch on the side for the smart keyboard.

I'm trying to establish if it's any better than this, which I just received...

I would say yes because it seems like it has hard plastic edges, which makes it less impact resistant. I also tend to think the solid black ring on the iBlason looks better, but that's personal preference. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably order this case, since this is just temporary anyway until the better brands come out with some more stylish and well thought out options: https://www.amazon.com/iPad-10-5-Inch-Charcoal-Color/dp/B07215MYS4/. The reason I didn't order that one was because I thought the cutouts and button openings were too big. I like tight cut outs and button covers. If they change the design of that one I would probably order it as it seems less slippery and I like the look of the solid color better. That same company makes one that has an Apple Pencil holder that I think would be the perfect case without the holder: https://www.amazon.com/iPad-10-5-Charcoal-Color-Holder/dp/B071WXGD7F/. I installed a metal clip from a pen on my Apple Pencil that fits quite snug and I clip that onto the side of my iPad or in my pocket when I need to. I also have a rubber grip on the Pencil so it wouldn't fit in that case anyway. I hope they will make a version without the pencil holder!

Khomo stuff is quality ... owned a few of their cases for other iPads. I would probably go for this if the shipping didn't equate to another 50% of the item price!

Oh, I have Prime so I never think about shipping, lol. About half the stuff we buy in our house anymore goes through Amazon. I have a 5% cash back card that gets me tons of free stuff.

I wish I could tell you about my Pad & Quill Oxford leather case, but I ordered (and paid for) it three weeks ago (7/18) and they stated it would ship by the week of the 24th. Then the week of the 24th came and went, and P&Q promised to ship the week of the 31st. I called Thursday last week and they swore that it would ship no later the end of the day on Friday. I heard nothing and called P&Q today, and they tell me they have no idea when it'll ship.

I'm afraid this company has grown too big for its britches, and is in real trouble in terms of delivering their product anywhere near on time. Add that to taking payment weeks prior to shipment, and I am a very unhappy customer that will not likely return.

ETA: It finally shipped today, 8/8. I wouldn't expect to receive a new order in any less than 3 weeks, regardless of what their website says.

That’s disappointing to hear.

@macduke , I’m still quite happy with my Khomo Twill Case. No complaints.

After waiting what seemed like forever, ESR released their back shell for the 10.5. Having owned this for my 9.7 I was well chuffed and ordered. I have the same ESR case (clear version). Yes, it is a pity they don't release the hybrid (TPU edge with polycarbonate back) version for iPad Pro 10.5" yet as I was looking for it.

It's a stylish case with good details. Perfect fit and alignment, ease of removal and insertion, low price and a reputable brand name (in China) are the reasons I keep this case.

I also appreciate the product is still in a box packaging (as they value their brand) rather than what its competitors do by just throwing the product in a plastic bag with foam.

One gripe -- the rear camera cutout is too shallow to protect the camera lens from dirts. It is flushed with the camera lens to achieve the 10mm slimness.

Meanwhile, there is nothing else in the market except the Tech21 Clear Impact case which is a hybrid case. Regardless of the price, the Tech21 Clear Impact case has one weakness I couldn't accept-- the edges are very hard on the iPad. I bought one and I didn't bother completing the process of putting the entire iPad inside. I tried 3 corners and had a bad feeling down the road the edges (despite it is TPU but it is a very hard one) will mar the edges of my iPad. Also it will probably be incompatible with some tempered glass (the one that go very aggressively to the very edges of the glass of the iPad. So I returned it.

The Tech21 case deserves a higher price tag because of the way they design the edges of the case. Upon closer look, you will see their patented ridges inside the edges which I am sure it has very good bump protection. There seems to be some clear protection film applied inside the edges of the case.

For anyone who may consider both cases --- ESR back case weighs 74g. Tech21 Clear Impact for iPad pro 10.5" weighs 83g without pencil holder and 96g with pencil holder.

Hey guys, I saw many posts around this topic and like many I'm still looking for the closest feel of the Apple Silicone back cover (compatible with smart cover, which I have), which wasn't released by Apple for our 10.5 inch iPad Pro.
From what I saw you guys mentioning these were the best options I found:

A) https://khomoaccessories.com/produc...se-for-apple-ipad-pro-10-5-inch-midnight-blue
But again, people are saying that it's plastic and not silicone like what I'm looking for
A2) https://khomoaccessories.com/produc...inch-charcoal-gray-color-case-with-pen-holder

B) http://www.luvvitt.com/accessories/...-case-for-apple-ipad-pro-10-5-in-clear-1.html

C) https://www.apple.com/shop/product/HL7C2ZM/A/tech21-impact-clear-case-for-105-inch-ipad-pro?fnode=9a&fs=f=ipadpro_10_5&fh=4583%2B48d0

So the question is, which of these have the closest feel to the original Apple silicone back cover. I hate the plastic feel, love the silicone though.

Thanks in advance!

PS: There're people talking also well about the Poetic Lumos case 12.9, but I don't know if it's either silicone or plastic and they haven't released the 10.5inch version on their website yet.

I am made up with mine. I much prefer it to the genuine Apple silicon back I had on my 9.7.
That's surprising, but I never used the old silicon back. I was irritated Apple didn't offer it for sale as I was coming from the Apple leather smart case which is the best iPad case I've ever used.

I agree on the Apple leather Smart case being the best iPad case ever used. The old silicon back was a perfect fit and looked good, however it cost way too much and picked up lint, pet hair and greasy finger print marks. After a few months is looked really tatty. I could forgive it that if it wasn't so expensive.

Yeah they need a leather back case and leather smart keyboard. Or even better, just sell a leather smart case with built-in smart keyboard (non-detachable) for $199. I would buy the hell out of that!
