I am a big fan of the Zulu iPad Prodigy cases. Had one with my iPad Air 2, my 1st Gen 12.9 and now for the 10.5. This portfolio case has storage on the back for the Apple Pencil and a magnetic kick stand that lets you prop up the iPad at a number of different angles. It provides good protection and keeps the slim design of the iPP. It is not cheap but the fact that I’m on my third one should tell you how much I like them.

Cool case! Does it bulk up the iPad? And how does one hang it on the fridge door?

I received the KHOMO back case and the Smart Cover from Apple, both for the IPP 10.5.

The Khomo case is good, but it has some downsides:

- If the iPAD is Wifi and Cellular (mine is), it will have a SIM tray for us to load in a SIM card. The KHOMO case covers this area completely. I didn't notice at first and had to remove the Khomo case, which is not easy to do at all.

- If we want to do this with the Smart Cover:

Wake on open. Sleep on close.

Open the Smart Cover, and iPad magically wakes up. Close it, and iPad automatically goes to sleep.

We now can't use our fingers to raise from its edges (when used with this KHOMO case). The only way to do this is if it's done from here (using the tip of one finger I can open the Smart Cover):

Not really an issue, still it demonstrates this case is not ideal as the ones Apple sold in the past.

I think this falls into the category of you get what you pay for. I bought an $8 case because I couldn't decide on a case I really like. I just wanted protection until I found a better case. My cheap case doesn't stand up in the viewing position very well.

I also have the cellular iPP. I'm okay with the sim tray being covered as I put the sim card in when I brought it home and I've never opened it again. This doesn't seem like a design flaw to me.

Hi guys,

First time poster here.

I've purchased a Spigen iPad 10.5 Smart Fold case on Amazon for just $12.99 because I like these types of cases.

I've used more expensive cases in the same style but they seemed to become loose or fall apart after about 3 months of regular use.

Because of the low price, I was a little hesitant to purchase the Spigen case because I thought it would be sub par in quality. Boy was I wrong. The material used is very nice, maybe even better than some of the $30-$40 cases.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this one.

I was looking for a folio case because I like to read and write in portrait mode. For me it takes less room and just fits me.
I also wanted a hand strap, Wake/Sleep cover and storage for small papers all with providing all around bump/drop protections. This one fit the bill.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073PZ5V15/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I enjoy it a lot, I love the extra pocket for paper storage and the entire setup looks professional. The fit and finish is Very Good. And all the cut outs and binding are top notch. The edges extend just enough to give you protection when the eventual drop happens. There are very few options out there that meets my needs. I would prefer customer leather outer cover. And a better Ipen storage so I could keep an ink pen along with my Ipen but this for $16 no complaints at all.

bottom line is a clean, sleek, professional, inexpensive, feature packed with a reasonable amount of protections. check, check, check.

It
hmm the reviews say its not compatible with the smart cover which is a disaster!
It IS compatible. It is on my iPad Pro right now with dark blue Smart Cover. “SMART COVER COMPATIBLE iPAD PRO 10.5 CASE: Designed to be used with Apple Smart Cover (not included). This is a back cover only. May not be compatible with screen protectors.” Just make sure you order the Updated version.

Probably should have posted this here rather than the other non-sticky thread.

After trial and error with so many cases, I have settled on this combination for my iPad Pro 10.5. Sleek, Lightweight, Thin, and Silicon/Rubber Edges to protect the Bezel.

(1) Apple Leather Smart Cover - Black (Got if off eBay for $48 shipped)

(2) i-Blason Clear Hybrid Cover Case - Clear/Black

I’m becoming more and more intrigued at the lack of ultra thin shell-type cases available. Incipio no longer makes their Feather line (supplies still on the market, no 10.5 option), Moshi isn’t making an iGlaze for the 10.5 (available for both 12.9 versions), Peel stopped making iPad cases, etc.

I’m considering picking up a 10.5 (again) however not finding a case I like might be a dealbreaker. I’m not a fan of the Amazon budget options; too many stories of warping, cracks, mis-alignment, etc. And the ones I have looked at are thicker than I’d like (barely beyond the camera bump ideally).

The Incipio Feather I have for my 12.9 v1 is great.

Edit: it looks like the MoKo is the closest I can find to the Incipio Feather

I think the cheap Amazon/eBay cases are cutting into the sales of the traditional companies. I've had a hard time finding a good quality case for the iPP 10.5. I've bought several and returned them all.

I have the moko hard shell. It's thicker than other thin shell cases, but it's solid. I'd say it extends beyond the camera bump by about one millimeter. It fits snugly on the iPad which the thinner ones generally do not.

I actually just modded this case and attached it to a Samsung book cover case because I couldn't find a case I liked.

You know they get what they deserve! When is all boils down the "Higher End" use basically the same parts, plastics, rubbers and pho-leather. They stick a Brand name on them and charge $40.00 plus. Its not justified unless they have a built in keyboard. Everything else is gimmicks.
Sadly I says this with an $$ case on my IPP & iPhone not to mention the $$ glass screen protector. All to protect my overpriced thousand dollar devices. But that stops Here and Now! I will go no further! I am out and done!.....

Well maybe after I take a look at that i-Blason Clear Hybrid Cover Case + Apple Leather Smart Cover thats a nice setup. Hummm?

A lot of these cases, the $5 Amazon case or the $50 premium case is likely made in the same factories from the same assembly lines. The parts and labor are the same cost for both cases. The only difference is quality control that determine the price points.

I think the entrepreneurial folks in China or wherever are benefitting by selling direct on eBay and Amazon and are beating the established companies to market. When folks buy a device at launch and there's is only the cheapo cases they buy them figuring they are cheap enough to buy and discard later when the better cases come out. However, many people realize for money, the expensive cases aren't worth the extra money.

Even at $5 they make money. They probably sell more cares than the $50 company and probably push them out of the market. Hence the challenge in finding good quality cases.

I bought the clear back case on eBay for $1 including shipping! How is that even possible? Threre might be a profit of ten cents in that. But it is thanks to globalization.

Agree fully. But being an apple owner I want what I want. The cheep cases have equal fit and protection to the established name brands. Thus I found a inexpensive case that I am very happy with. I wonder what goes on in the Big Case manufacturer Zag, Otterbox, Vaja, Lifeproff, board room. They are loosing on cases and screen protectors. Capitalism does control cost. I expect to see the major celebs to soon be sporting the high end cases., just like they do head sets. Everyone sport big wig sports guy has beats, I even see them at the World Series. Only pure sport left is Hockey! Go Stars and Astros!

Sorry back to ... Case Lust...

Two questions...

1) In general, do you feel like case support for the new 10.5" iPad has been lacking? There just really haven't been that many cases to come out!

2) My mom replaced her iPad Air 2 with the new iPad Pro 10.5, and she had to get rid of her Logitech AnyAngle. Is there something similar, in terms of quality, that she could get for the 10.5? We really liked that case.

In answer to your first question, absolutely. I have been pretty disappointed. Perhaps manufacturers are waiting to see if Apple sticks with the 10.5 format?

I bought this case and haven't used it yet... tried it on but thought the back would scratch too easily, so reverted back to my ESR. Would be interested to hear a review down-the-line of how well it resists scratches

Not really a fail... almost every back case I've seen, and I've seen loads, cover the SIM slot.

My issue with the KHOMO is the huge gaps around the corners between the bezel and the case. A bird could nest in there.
