can you get a front-only cover for the new ipads? I mostly use my ipad 12.9 around the house so only want front screen protection and something that'll prop it up when watching video on the arm of the sofa for example. Front/back folio case seems overkill to me (extra cost, weight, bulk)

those of you mostly home users - do some of you go naked? But then how do you manage when you want to stand it up

I go naked at home but if I want to prop it up I put on the following knock-off case similar to the Smart Folio. This one allows for multi-angle views and while it covers both the front and back it’s easy on and off from the case.

i’ve been using the same one for quite a while. it does the job, but the quality isn’t that great to be honesty. the fit is fine and does the job protecting, but the magnets are absolutely too weak to support anything but the ‘traditional’ ways of normally folding the iPad cover.

that being said, for the price, i cant complain too much.

Its my understanding theirs no 3rd party equivalent to Apple's original iPad Pro 12.9 Silicone Case for the 12.9 2018 version?

Is there any kind of bumper case for the new iPad Pro ? So a frame that protects just the sides of the iPad Pro, but with an open back, so a smart Keyboard Folio could still be attached?

I've about given up on finding the "perfect" lightweight and pencil holding case for my iPad Pro. I wanted a case that was lightweight and was able to secure the pencil while charging with a flap that also provided extra security while having multiple viewing angles.

I started with the imitation slim folios that came out and loved the slimness and light weight, but didn't like the pencil was not secured. I often keep my iPad in my messenger bag and like to keep them together.

I love Sena cases, but they are far too heavy and don't support securing the pencil while charging. One thing I hated about my Apple Pencil 1 was that if the pencil sat idly for a certain amount of time, I'd have to recharge it again. The same case applies to the new pencil, so I wanted something that would always been attached and secure to avoid having to recharge.

I bought the Moshi origami for my 12.9, and while the case design is good, the back shell is made out of a cheap plastic that doesn't hold the iPad firmly in. I loved the strong magnets and view angles, but my iPad would fall out when I tried changing angles with the slightest pressure.

Also tried the EasyAcc case which was awesome and met my pencil criteria, but the viewing angles were limited due to the case design two angle stand. It's too bad because this case was really high quality and lightweight. If it only had the folding front folio design instead of a flat front, it would have been the winner.

Now I ordered the Otterbox Symetry 360. I'm not too thrilled about the weight and bulk, but it meets all other criteria. We'll see how this one turns out...

Ive got this case and it has been the best option on the market even if not perfect, definitely better priced that the official folio as well. In regards to the viewing angle i’ve been considering modding it by adding extra magnetic strips and using a softer material to cover them that would allow it to get a bit more grip while still being suitable for covering the screen. Just been looking around for the best materials.

I use a wrap/skin to protect the edges. it too hard to apply since they're rectangular edges this time around.

definitely thinking of picking this up when available. I would imaging a screen protector is a good idea with a keyboard?

My slimbook fits well and the keyboard is very nice. Really good protection and the back flip holds the screen stable evening my lap. Flip it over an it's solid on a table for drawing at a good angle. Really good case Al in all. HOWEVER the keyboard does not stay secure to your iPad! This results in your iPad taking a flop to the ground while your catching the keyboard falling the other way. This ended it for me, can't have to "Drops" while lap typing. Not recommended.

Got tired of looking for a high quality leather folio like apples.

I have version 2 planned for this weekend, stitching and straighter edges.

So I returned my Otterbox Symmetry 360 and bought the Burkley Leather folio case. The Burkley is actually a lot lighter and slimmer than the Symmetry, not mention it looks way classier. My biggest need from a case was a pencil flap to secure my apple pencil in my bag, as well as something slim that was also protective. This is as close as I was able to get. They were running a Mother's Day special when I bought it.

Does anybody know if there is an incase sleeve that fits the new iPad Pro?
I really like their Icon sleeves with tensaerlite, as they don't have zippers and make removing devices from the sleeve incredibly easy. They have this case for the 12.9 inch iPad Pro:
https://www.incase.com/devices/ipad/ipad-pro/icon-sleeve-tensaerlite-ipad-pro.
However I think this only fits the 2017 model so might be too big. Also I was thinking of maybe trying the icon sleeve for the 12 inch MacBook or 13 inch MacBook Pro. Is there anyone here who have one of those sleeves and tried them with the new 12.9 iPad Pro?

Old post, I know. But I also really like the Incase Icon sleeve with tensaerlite, and have them for the 12" MacBook. No, that won't fit the 12.9" 3rd gen, because it's not wide enough. Length and thickness are perfect though!

Also, there is no Incase Icon sleeve w/Tensaerlite for the 2018 MBP. They have one listed on their site, but it's been unavailable for 6+ months. I'm not sure if they actually ever sold it! They sell one with "diamond ripstop", but that's a different design/material than the one with Tensaerlite.

Upcoming Native Union STOW Slim for iPad. Just got a mailing about a preview for this new cover case. Looks interesting.

‘Thoughtfully designed to fit your Apple Pencil & Smart Keyboard. Subtle magnetic closure for even more seamless access to your essentials.”

Thank you so much for posting this! I've been debating the Burkley for a while; it helps to see a nice review like this. I hope you are still happy with it!

I’ve been using the official Apple Folio since launch but have experienced two issues with it. First, somehow I’ve scratched the bottom of the frame. It looks like the iPad might have been resting on something like an exposed screw head somewhere. Second, the material of the cover has become really puckered and distressed. This isn’t a problem unique to my cover, other people have experienced it too.

So, I went looking for a new cover to address both limitations.

After a little research I found this case by Ztotop:

Initial thoughts are that it’s definitely more rugged than the Apple offering, and a lot more protective. It’s probably comparable in terms of weight as it mostly attaches by slightly overlapping the sides, rather than having all the magnets in the back. The pencil is integrated well, and losing it in transit has become basically impossible. The case is a bit bigger than the Apple one in each dimension, but that is the price for 720-degree protection.

I also like that it is properly black, rather than dark grey. All my Apple devices are jet black or as close as I can get them, so this fits the aesthetic now, too.
