Wifi 6E is definitely appealing

That said ,1500 euros for a 128gb ipad is painful

And since u also need to buy a new keyboard -which also got a price hike - …

I mean a decently configured 12.9 256gb with Magic Keyboard and pencil is already 2300€…
It's worth noting that in a residential setting, 6E can actually perform "worse". If you're in the same room as the router, you should get a great signal but 6Ghz signals struggle to get through walls more than 5Ghz.

I have 2 Aliens (5Ghz Wifi 6) and get over 900Mb of bandwidth from my 1000Mb internet connection (I only get ~ 950 wired). There is very little, if anything to gain for me personally from 6E as there's nowhere in my home that doesnt get excellent Wifi 6 coverage.

This is fun filler but can someone please get Apple to say something about the new iPad and its 1st gen pencil support. Anyone?

Apple responded to the backlash about Stage Manager. They should respond to this too.

The simple answer is: NO!

Seeing not a re-design is not appealing to me :(
Were you expecting a Pear-shaped iPad?

The real question is whether or not you will want to upgrade next year, when the redesign comes. Because this year was literally a spec bump release. We’ve had the same design since 2018. The cheap iPad now has a potentially better keyboard design.

100% the next iPad Pro will get a new smart keyboard accessory, maybe a next gen apple pencil, likely a casing change, and maybe they will even throw in a second thunderbolt port to give it more differentiation in the line.

People complain if Apple doesn't change the form factor, but also complain if they have to get new cases or accessories.

Please complain if the new iPad isn't faster, but then complain if it's only Pro features that are added.

People complain if there aren't major technical improvements each generation, but fail to realize the fairly stable state of technology right now.

People complain if this year's version is too similar to last year's version, but fail to realize most people don't buy a new iPad but every 3-5 years.

Considering Apple's success, I think most of those complaints are your issues, not theirs.

Upgrading from an M1 iPad Pro seems almost completely pointless. It's not as obvious with older iPad Pros, though. I've been doing some thinking on this.

We have a 2018 11" iPP. (Use it for movies with a cupholder stand in the van on long trips, kids play Khan Academy Kids, I curate my Photos album on it, do some light office work, surf the web, and watch some sports when I'm not in front of a TV.) I bought it day 1. It's the most fun Apple device I own. (Not my favorite, but the most fun to use.) I don't use it everyday, but when I do I love to use it. We've owned several iPads before it. The Pro Motion screen is the number one benefit I see, and I will never own another device without it when I have a choice. I would gladly pay the $150 premium over the new Air for Pro Motion alone.

With homeschool discount, I can get the new M2 11" iPP for $849 vs paying $949 back in 2018. It's a stupid good deal to get something that is objectively better for less money 4 years later. I can still keep the old iPP and use it for all of it's intended purposes, but get a brand new device. Given the other threads about price increases in other countries, it feels like a literal blessing to be in the USA spending USD on something these days. Only reason not to get it is I literally don't need it. :)

Unless you will utilize those ProRes encoders, the answer is unequivocally NO, especially if you have an M1 12.9 since you already have the better display.

The Apple Pencil Hover, would be a major reason I would upgrade. Still, I replaced my iPad Pro 12.9” 2nd Gen with the iPad Air 5th Gen and I am happy with it.

I just think the iPad just like the iPhone has hit a wall and Apple honestly does not know what more to do. I feel like they are now regretting making all their platform operating systems free. They are probably kicking themselves because those could subscription services they charge for annually or monthly. They just know it would be a back lash and huge security risk.

My iPad Pro 12.9 M1 is my primary device, but even so I would never upgrade year over year. The next upgrade cycle in 18 months or so may be worth looking at. Of course it goes without saying that the introduction of a 14“/15” form factor would be an instant buy.

This is when an upgrade isn't an upgrade.

The M2 is great I am sure, as are some other features but what can this do that the others cannot (beyond artificial limits)?

If you have the 2021 M1, you will literally gain nothing by upgrading. It will do everything this one does that is meaningful in any way.

These types of spec-bump updates to the iPad Pro feel a lot like what PC manufacturers used to rely on for their yearly or twice-yearly releases. And that may be the point that Apple has gotten to, not just with the iPad Pro, but the iPhone, AirPod and MacBook lines too. Bigger shifts in form factor, or jumps in performance or battery life are far more likely to be pushed out to every 3-5 years at this point, if not even further. We’ve gotten to the point in tech that many of the iterative improvements often go unnoticed or are unused by the majority of people. Heck, even many apps aren’t using the power and performance that the latest round of chipsets offer. All this being said, the one thing I think the iPad Pro 12.9” could use (I’m writing this on my M1 iPP) is longer battery life. It’s the one significant thing effecting my everyday use. That being said, it still provides a better screen, faster performance, longer battery life and use-anywhere capability that makes my work provided Surface seem like a decades-old PC.

Also FYI to any M1 iPad owners looking to trade in w Apple to get the new M2 iPad - Apple only offers UP TO $500 for old iPads, INCLUDING the M1 iPad which is worth WAY more than $500.

Unless you poop out money, it's not a good deal w Apple & you might need to consider someone else to sell to.

I am not even sure if I want to upgrade from 2017 10.5-inch iPad Pro. With the exception of Apple Pencil Hover, I see the new pro as being way more than I need while all the other models available have some flaw or missing feature that makes me think twice about upgrading. The Air is probably what I should upgrade to since the only flaw is the missing Face ID and I am pretty sure that Touch ID will continue to be just fine. The price tag is kinda high though. If the 10th generation supported Apple Pencil 2 then it would be the sweet spot for me.

Whenever I look at the Air, I think that for a little more money I can get the Pro. But the 10th gen price is much easier to stomach than the Air if I want to stay stuck wth Apple Pencil 1.
