14.1" iPad
Under Display True-depth
OLED Technology...

These are the upgrades I'm waiting for and would love to see.

I’ve recently said I wouldn’t upgrade to another Pro, but that Pro you’ve described would be an instant upgrade. To have a 14.1” OLED display for movies and light computing would be stellar.

Also FYI to any M1 iPad owners looking to trade in w Apple to get the new M2 iPad - Apple only offers UP TO $500 for old iPads, INCLUDING the M1 iPad which is worth WAY more than $500.

Unless you poop out money, it's not a good deal w Apple & you might need to consider someone else to sell to.
Pathetic. Imagine spending $2000 for a 2TB iPad Pro just to be told a year later, “yeah it’s only worth $500.”

Apple is getting stale on the iPad and iPhone development.

I have a 12.9” 2018 iPad Pro and while I wouldn’t call it “a rocket,” it’s fast and functional enough for now. Plus, last year’s Magic Keyboard introduction was a really nice addition to its usability, giving it a bit more life yet.

Hover functionality is interesting, particularly if apps can respond to a mouse/trackpad’s cursor hovering over an element rather than just a third generation Apple Pencil. Still, like all other UX introductions (eg, Force Touch, Touch Bar) it’s going to take time for app developers to identify where it makes sense to implement and to update their apps. And considering developers have to plan for every other user out there without a third gen pencil, it means it can only ever be a nice usability embellishment and little more.

A new form factor with higher quality display would be nice and reasonable to expect, but I’m curious what Apple’s going to do with the cameras. They’re introducing ProRes recording on a device with a so-so camera and even promoting professionally recording video in their latest reel.

If they’re serious about that workflow, why not introduce an iPad Ultra (ie a 14” or bigger tablet with video and camera capabilities at least as good as the top of the line iPhone)? It would have more RAM, better performance, more storage, longer battery life and could be a one-stop-shop for a complete video workflow.

The 2021 11" M1 iPad Pro is still good.
The limiting factor is iPad OS, as many commenters already mentioned.
The OS is meant for entertainment Not work and can never replace a laptop.

Wifi 6E is definitely appealing

That said ,1500 euros for a 128gb ipad is painful

And since u also need to buy a new keyboard -which also got a price hike - …

I mean a decently configured 12.9 256gb with Magic Keyboard and pencil is already 2300€…
Is that the 11-inch model that is €1500?

That’s more than the cost of the 512 GB WiFi/Cellular model I ordered yesterday after taxes 💀

Well Apple announced that Davinci Resolve is coming to iPad Pro, so that leans me toward a M2 model.
But I’ll wait to see if it would work with an M1 iPad.

Advice on formatting. When you do these guides the features are not maintained in a list so as I read across on one iPad the feature might be screen but the other is on ram. Just put in some spacing so as I look over the list on the same level it always is comparing the same features.

My 2018 iPad Pro is still a rocket I don't feel a reason personally to upgrade.

The simple answer is: NO!

Seeing not a re-design is not appealing to me :(

Do. Not. Upgrade. It's the same tablet.
This is not meant to be upgraded every year. This is proof people will complain about anything. You don’t want to upgrade? Cool. I’m getting this. I have a crap load of Best Buy gift cards and going from a 2016 iPad.

I wish the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID would work on iPads, especially with legit External Display support "coming soon".

The article is literally comparing the M1 to M2 iPad Pros…hence the responses you quoted. The answer is absolutely NO if you already have an M1 iPad Pro, unless you are 1 of the 10 people world wide who use ProRes encoders and prefer a iPad Pro over a laptop for that work.

IMO, two things will never happen: iPad getting MacOS and Macbook getting a touchscreen. Either of these is stepping into another's territory and decreasing sales.

I'm ok with getting the M1 iPad, but I don't want to pay more than around 500 dollars. If I'm paying close to 600, I might as well get the M2 Version.

The M1 pros are so good that 99% of people won’t notice any difference. The screen is the thing that for me people will be the signal to upgrade.

I doubt it. They may just start using Apple Pencil 2.
Apple Pencil 1 charges by connecting directly into the Lightning port of the iPad, so switching it to USB-C will not be a good thing for this iPad release.
This iPad is usb c though. Are you saying they’re more likely to just give the iPad 11 2nd gen pencil support?

I haven't owned an iPad in over 5+ years. I preordered an 11 inch M2 w/ cellular (256gb). Debating if I should cancel and just get a 512gb M1 12.9 wifi only off amazon instead

Very minor sidegrade. Only real upgrade from M1 iPP is 3nm, OLED display, hardware AV1/VP9 decode, etc. M1 iPP is still better overall with permanent unrestricted app sideloading with TrollStore.
